I want denim!!

Ack. I want to buy some jeans, but haven't worn them in ages. Now I am down to a size 20 and think I'm ready to don the denim. Trouble is I live in the boondocks and am forced to shop by mail. Anyone have advice? I am an apple shape and want a really dark blue wash. But what leg -- straight, bootcut, wide? and what brands suit an apple? I don't need any bump on the side for the saddle bags -- that's not where I carry my weight. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

You cant go anywhere shopping? I cant buy jeans online, they all fit so different. I love Lucky brand jeans, there expensive but so comfy! :carrot:

I think considering it has been awhile since you wore denim that you really should go shopping and try on different styles. Even knowing what I like to wear to order online is really iffy.

I agree treat yourself to a shopping day in the closest city! You deserve it!
I like Tommy Hillfigers plus size jeans BUT they took them out of the stores a while back but are suppose to bring them back in March. They carry them at Macys.

I live in the boondocks also basically ~if you have a local walmart nearby try levis strauss Stretchy bootcut~They are comfy on an apple shape and You may be surprised and even wear an 18 in them.
Plus they do not cost a fortune.OR IF YOU MUST ORDER ONLINE GO TO LEVIS WEBSITE OR wanna be a little pricer then order tommy hilfiger jeans regular legs or bootcut. I found them flattering to an apple shape also. Or Order old navy brand they fit an apple shape nicely if you "do not" buy SUPER LOW RISE!!!

I wish it was cheap to ship~I just got into 18's and have a whole bag of jeans in 20's ~Levis/tommy & old navy! & I am a stay home mom so there in Excellent condition...And cost a small fortune... I figured I could have a yard sale this spring. If you are loosing weight quickly you may wanna buy used somewhere (Maybe even try ebay)or somewhere near you if you are able actually so you do not waste alot of money. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

If you're really limited to mail order, try MyShape (I can't post links, but add a dot com to MyShape and that's the website). You enter all your measurements (and there are a lot of them!), fit preferences, style preferences, etc. They'll provide you with options in appropriate brands, sizes and styles that should fit and flatter you. Shipping is free, as is return shipping if things don't work out. I've always had a hard time finding jeans that work on me - I've spent hours in stores trying on dozens of pairs without luck. I ordered a few pairs from MyShape figuring that I wouldn't be any worse off, and they've all fit perfectly. Just a thought!

Yeah, I agree with the people that said you should really go to a store & try some on. I know sometimes that's not an option though. =(

I recently found the perfect pair of jeans! They are Levi's Perfectly Shaping Bootcut Denim Jean, & I bought them at Torrid. They are the only jeans I have ever been able to really move in. I wear them to dance class all the time now. I have a problem with jeans gapping at the waist & these don't (well a little but not bad).

Lane Bryant has some nice ones")

fitter mimi, I like a straight cut up and down. It has a way of looking nice on everyone and creating a silouette effect. dark wash is the way to go for certain--and be sure to pair them with at least a little bit of a pump shoe or boot. It makes trousers of any sort hang nicer on you.

I have also started wearing semi-lowrise flare legged but they are choice number 2 in my book. It is cute, casual and whatever but still the pants I describe above is my favorite look for anyone over about a size 12 or over the age of 30.

Lane Bryant isn't bad.
Lucky is a brand where the jeans look absolutely amazing the first 20 times you wear them, and then after that start to sag in the butt area.
Apple Bottom jeans are really cute, and made for girls who have butts, but I have a non-existent butt, so I can't tell you much about them.

Yes, Lane Bryant online. I bought some trouser jeans a couple weeks ago from there and I never want to take them off. I think I'm an apple shape, about an 18, so I bought the Yellow Size 4. These were a little tight around my middle but the saleslady insisted I get them anyway because they would loosen up considerably, and they did. I think if you're a 20 you might want to get a yellow 5.

i *love* the sizing at Lane Byrant. They have this system of sizing called the perfect fit, even work pants too. It's based on your body shape and use normal numbers like 1,2,3. The sales people, at least at the one I went to were AWESOME.

Nori71 03-11-2009 01:12 AM

Lane Bryant jeans with that new sizing method don't work on me at all. I was actually there just today to check and see now that I've lost more weight and thought maybe they'd fit me now. I need jeans that are flat, low rise in front - no extra material there - and most plus sized jeans have so much material there. The jeans that work the best for me are from Avenue. The darkest wash available!!!

Amy8888 03-11-2009 10:14 AM

Well, if you are interested in trying out Lane Bryant they are having a huge sale right now. I just ordered a couple more pairs of pants on Monday because of the sale. It's a good chance to give them a try!
