So...how does one get rid of all of the hair in the bikini area??? Let's have a poll here...Shave? Wax or not bother? I shave but hate having to do it all the time...waxing sounds painful and not sure that I want someone else in that area...any suggestions???
I use an epilator. Hurts like heck, but I've gotten used to it. I can do bikini area and most of my pubic area, can't too close down there though or the hurt moves up to a completely different level!
bah... leave it. It's getting into the colder months and you need in insulation!!
I wax....although this pregnancy I've gotten a lot more sensitive...down there...the last time I went to the waxer, I cried so hard that she just did the sides and left the rest.
A lot of waxers can apply a topical anesthetic that makes it more manageable.
Electric razors do work well, especially the ones that spew out lotion...although DH does not appreciate me using his.
I apply finipil every day to help keep things bump free...a bumpy giner is SO not attractive.
A friend of mine uses a depilatory cream (like nair) on just her bikini area NOT on the..ahem..inner areas. She says it works fine and she doesn't get much irritation if any.

I didn't know they had that! I may try that before my wedding in April. Though, the thought still scares me!
I think this is a great question. I shave and I hate it (especially when it starts to grow back) It doesn't make me feel sexy. I think I just do it out of convienence. I love all the suggestions!
If they don't have a topical anesthetic available, you can apply a topical OTC anesthetic before you arrive to your appointment. Orajel works fabulous - not just for teeth anymore, sister Also, Solarcaine works but since it is a spray you have to be VERY careful not to get it "inside".
Also, a shot of bourbon works as well....just make sure to shoot it and not rub it on.
The scariest part for me the first time was having some chick I didn't know seeing me at my absolute least flattering angle. It wasn't too bad though, she did a really great job at making me feel relaxed and comfortable. We're friends now and hang out regularly....which is a little odd.
I've been waxed a handful of times. Hollywood style....VERY painful!!! If you go regulariy and get waxed, the pain gets less and less each visit. I think because more fine hair tends to grow back and less course hair. Also...choose a really good esthetician!!!
If you have a high pain threshold...definately try waxing.
I've found professional waxing expensive so I only do it in the summer time. Winter...I shave.
I don't bother, ever. I can't swim and so never wear a bathing suit. Dh doesn't care one way or another.
Growing up my Mom didn't shave or wax anything, so I didn't have a "role model" in this area. I figure taking care of my legs (knee to ankle), underarms, and eyebrows is enough. Of course, I'm very blond, so my hair isn't very visible anyway. I guess that makes a difference.
My best friend is doing laser treatments practically everywhere, but it's very expensive and I don't think it's working well for her.
I just read that old thread....I would like to try this waxing thing but I am such a chicken...I should just suck it up and be adventurous....so how much should I plan on spending if I am going for a complete wax...and where does one go for something like this...???? I know...I am such a pathetic newbie at this...
