Weight and Jean Sizes

  • Ok so I recently found my old jeans from years ago and I'm trying to figure out how much I weighed when I fit into them b/c I'd like to get back to that weight (I can't believe I complained about my weight then! ) anyway I'm 5'4, and around 290 - 295lbs currently and I wear a size 26 (I can fit into 24, but they are TIGHT) Anyway my old jeans are a size 34 in "normal" sizes, not sure what that translates into, I'm thinking maybe 10 - 12?

If anyone can tell me what a size 34 in "normal" sizes would be I'd appreciate it, also if anyone could estimate what they think I might have weighed when I fit into my old jeans? I'm guessing anywhere between 160 - 200lbs...

    Thanks
  • I bought a pair of 36 jeans last week (they are firm but they fit, and I'm still getting smaller).

I'm just under 200lb, so I'd say you were closer to 160 than 200 to easily fit into 34s. Don't know what size they translate into, sorry. Your sizing is different to ours. I'm a 16ish here, but from my understanding that's about a 12-14 in North America (I so wish I lived there! I'd almost be a size 12!)
  • I have a pair of 30's that fit me and I wear a 10, so I'm fairly certain a 34 would be a size 14.

I wore a size 14 when I was 175 lbs. Since you are bit shorter I'd say you were probably closer to 160 when you wore them, but it can vary depending on body shape and muscle structure. So the only way to know is to see where you are at when they fit again.
  • i am actually wearing a pair of 34's today and I am a size 14 - 5'2 and 194lbs so it is going to be different for everyone
  • thanks everyone
  • yeah... a 34 is about a 14, depending on the brand though...

I have a pair of 32s that fit like a 10... which is aggravating.. (But at least I can zip those suckers up now)

Best thing to do is measure your waist -- and then see how many inches you'd have to lose to get to 34 inches

oooh so it just means I had a 34 inch waist? I didn't know that... thanks!
  • I'm 5'4" and started at the weight you are now. I was in a tight 22 going into a 24 at 290lbs. I'm currently a US 14 (UK16) and my waist is 33' so I'd guess those jeans would near enough fit me. I'm currently 193lbs but people tell me I look much less than that.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm going to assume I was around 180 - 190 when my jeans fit a few years ago, so that means I have 100lbs to lose before I even think about trying to fit back into them, but I'll get there eventually!
  • I tried on 34's when I weighed in the 190s and they fit GREAT. Heh I miss those. I'm 5'6''
