There are independent MAC stores in most large malls. If not, you can also find them in Macy's and other large department stores.

If all else fails, you can go to the MAC website and do a store search:

I buy my MAC products from Nordstoms, but only because it's the only major make-up place in Anchorage (that I've been able to find, at least) but I'd bet the website has a link to find one near you :)

I'm not THAT keen on the foundation I have, because it's pretty thick and feels heavy - but it does the job and matches my skin tone perfectly which is hard to find - but I can't say enough good things about the eye liner!

Another Mac girl here! I love most of their makeup. I have to admit Nars has way better blush than Mac. I love studio fix fluid foundation (it makes my skin look flawless) but unfortunately it breaks me out. I'm saving to buy Make Up Forever foundation (after hearing rave reviews about it) to replace the fluid. I prefer powder over liquid foundation since the latter feels "heavy" on my face.

Hi All!

I agree Ambrosia, Nars has great blush. I also use MAC (love it all!) and Make-Up Forever foundations. For a great concealer, Neiman Marcus has a Cle De Peau one. VERY PRICEY, but so worth it-I was skeptical when walking pass the counter and the sales associate jumped out with it, but it was well worth it. I also looooovee make-up brushes. I better stop here, I could go on FOREVER about makeup! :)

I am in love with M.A.C.'s pigments. Vanilla to be specific, I probably can go through a full jar of that in less then 6 months, lol! It's great for highlighting the browbone, tear duct area of the eye, and I especially love using it for bridal work as a cheekbone highlighter.

I also really like their eyeshadows, and paints/pots (as a base). The only downfall to M.A.C. products is their price, which for $22.50 (CND) a pigment, can get quite pricy. :(

I actually buy all my M.A.C. I own off of eBay.

:( i don't use make-up alot. I'll wear whole face only in special events. Otherwise, everyday is:
- body moisturizer (clinique), day milk whitening (pond's), light powder (CG).
- eyebrow brow powder (OH!)
- white eyeshadows (testimo)
- MASCARA
yes i have to make it bold because it's the most important thing in my make up :D I care for mascara alot >.<". Anyways, i have few kinds.
1. Clinique (high impact mascara-mascara impact optimal one)
2. Maybelline (Volum Express turbo boost one)
3. L'Oreal (Lash Architect)
4. リーズン (for sparkling :p)
and lastly,
- lipgloss (Clubbin’ Lovin’ Fever Gloss, or GEO lip liquid)

I've been dying to buy a Mineral, but haven't made time to go yet. >.<"

In Canada, there are a lot of MAC locations in The Bay as well.

My favorite shades from MAC are the Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow, the green-brown pigment and the Ruby Woo lipstick.

Probably not together, though. lol.

I absolutely love Cover Girl Eye Slicks... it's an eyeshadow pencil thing that glides on easily and lasts all day and night!! Doesn't crease or anything... I use mostly department store stuff... CG, Loreal, Maybelline... i acutally have maybelline mineral powder... i hate it... i'm not sure if it doesnt match my skin tone or not but it's horrid! I use avon powder concealer (porcelain), cover girl lash exact mascara(black), almay intense i-color eyeliner (brown topaz color) and cover girl eye slicks (shimmering pebble), and lip gloss...
I'm pretty simple and wear makeup when we're going out... not every day... but i am going to try the everyday minerals... for 4 bucks it's worth a try!

Something I've never understood: what is eyeshadow creasing? I mean, what does it look like and how do you know you have it?

Spoz 08-11-2008 10:11 AM

I've awful natural nails (I have a tendency to pick and peel at them, but not bite) and I've tried all sorts of strengtheners because I like my nails long. Just wandering what anybody else uses if they have to? I've just bought OPI nail envy and it seems the best so far.

^ Sally Hansen Age correct growth treatment, I absolutely love it, it seems to improve my nails, you can wear under a colour, but I do like it on its own, seems a natural manicure, also moisturize often!

OnceUponADrive 08-11-2008 12:08 PM

Moisturizer question here. Anyone use Dermadoctor Tease Zone? I have VERY oily skin so I really need an oil-controlling lotion as well as something with an SPF in it (I found this combination almost impossible to find). I read reviews of a product called Cosmedicine that were terrible. This Dermadoctor seems to have better reviews. Just wondering if anyone's used it. Or if you've used anything else that might help.

I currently use Bare Escentuals as well, but I don't like spending so much on it. I'm thinking about trying Loreal's version since people here seem to like it.

Sharkysmachine 08-12-2008 05:08 AM

I love MAC, Nars, Chanel, Christian Dior (Oh those juicy pigments) and Loreal. I'm addict to products, especially lipglass. MAC makes the absolute best foundation/powder and Nars has the best blushes. I wasn't a blush person until I tried Nars and I'm addicted to their orgasm lipgloss.

Nail polish (which is a huge addiction for me0 I love Chanel's edgier colors like Blue Satin, Black Satin, Vamp. OPI's Mrs. O'leary's BBQ, Lincoln Park After Dark, Russian Navy and Siberian Nights. I could go on and on about nail polish!

When shadow creases, you can see wrinkles or cracks in it. It's a fairly easy fix. Just sweep a Q-tip over it to smooth it, then touch up with a little more shadow. Creasing happens most often is you have oily or over moisturised lids. Try blotting or applying a little foundation and powder or a primer to your lids. :D

I am nuts for OPI polishes, but Nail Envy doesn't do much for my nails. I have delicate nails that chip and peel like crazy and I found the best treatment is to take Biotin. It is inexpensive and really does help my nails. It takes a while to see the full effects, since it has to start working, then you have to grow away the old nail, but it is wonderful, long term. My nails are at their best, when I am taking it.

I have read good things about it, too. I am just concerned as to whether or not it is pure mineral makeup. A lot of companies are making standard powder or liquid formulas and tossing in a little mineral, so they can claim to offer "mineral makeup". So, read the label carefully. :)

If you want a pure mineral foundation and want a better price than BE, I can suggest SunCat Natural. (You can find it with Google.) It is a small, in home mineral makeup brand. She makes some of the best mineral foundation I have ever used. She offers several formulas, and a very wide shade range for the palest to the deepest. All of her makeup is hand made, pure and natural. And her prices are terrific.
