I feel you, though oddly enough, some of my wal*mart stuff has held up better than some of my Old Navy stuff! :) And the bottoms of my pants are all frayed too! Now though I just bite the bullet and have them hemmed.

As far as casual wear, I do like Old Navy and seriously they got me through when I couldn't bear the spend the cash at LB. It was just harder for me to find more business stuff. Their plus section didn't have a lot of business skirts (not too short and not too long) and that frustrated me.

Also for Kmart/Wal*Mart I found if I hand washed things like cardigans they held up a lot better. Though this is a lot harder to do when you have more than one person's clothes to wash!

Sorry if I sounded a little pissy.

I'm really busty and found I had to go up a size in shirts in order for them to fit my breasts and since hte clothing was so cheap it was hardly worth the money to have things tailored. Also, the one time I did take a shirt in for tailoring the woman told me the material was too cheap for her to do much with. LOL.

Still, there were always a few things I like and when I first started getting heavier ( a lot of the weight came on when I had to take predisone) Old Navy was the only place I could find things cheaply. I wasn't about to invest money in LB clothes since I was afraid it would give me "permission" to stay heavy and also I don't like their clothes much either. I seem to have an edgier aesthetic than what most fat lady stores cater to.

Have you tried torrid.com? just a thought...they might have clothes that you would like...

Yeah, I tried Torrid, but their clothes seemed really expensive for how poorly they were constructed. I was bummed! Fortunately I don't wear plus sizes anymore and have more options, but for a long time it was quite stressful.

I am a Department store girl... I tend to find better quality clothes cheaper when they are on sale at department stores. I always thought Old Navy was a bit overpriced for me, other than the time I went and they had a rack of 99 cent items and I picked up a few shirts and such.

I recently bought a bunch of stuff at Dillards that was 30% off their 75% off stuff. It was amazing. They had 20-30 racks of clothes that fit that category. I bought about 20 items for about $200. Lots of stuff for work and casual stuff. I wore one of the work pants yesterday and I was amazed at how well they fit, they are one of the best pants I ever had and they cost me $8. I stick to department stores :)

On another message board I'm on, a woman who works for ON said that the reason they took all plus sized to the web only is because they had better sales from the web. Apparently, there just aren't enough plus sizers buying in store.

Someone else mentioned there being less pregnant women and more plus sized women. While that may be true, pregnant women spend a ton of money. And, a lot of them spend it at ON. The prices are good and for things that you'll just wear for maybe nine months (sometimes you can rewear things for a second pregnancy, but not if you live in an area where you have extreme seasons and you get pregnant in a different season!) ON ends up being a decent choice to shop at for pregnant women.

I have done *really* well on sales at Macy's and the clothes fit well and are well made. I have gotten even better deals by using my Macy's card for an extra 15% most of the time on top of the already discounted clearance items. I bought two beautiful Charter Club button up blouses for $11 a piece. I had seen them a month ago for $50. I love a bahgain!
