Default Lost weight while traveling, but trying to maintain

Hi, anyone else notice that they lose weight when traveling? I'm trying to maintain, and I find that when I'm traveling I'm very conscious of what I'm putting into my mouth because I don't know a lot of information on the ingredients/how the food was prepared. I usually come back a couple of pounds lighter after just a few days on the road. I guess this isn't a strict weight problem b/c I can always put the weight back on slowly when I return, but sometimes I think I might be being a little hypervigilant and maybe I should be a little less obsessed during those times.

I guess I'm just afraid that I might go overboard and actually start gaining. I don't starve myself intentionally while I'm gone, but when I come back and add things up, my calorie count is usually a good bit lower than at home. I eat breakfast/lunch/dinner every day, so I'm not skipping meals. I'm ordering things like grilled fish w/ veggies, grilled fish/chicken/turkey sandwiches, or pasta with a tomato-based sauce at restaurants. I like the food that I order. I don't feel hungry or anything during these trips, so I don't feel like I'm depriving myself.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience, or if anyone has advice.

One thing you might consider is that you are dehydrated. Airplanes are so dry, and when traveling there is so much to do that sometimes it is hard to get enough fluid.

I count calories on travel. Or at least guess. I usually don't have a problem with eating too little!

I notice it as well, but I think it's mainly that I do more when I'm traveling; sightseeing, walking tours, and general activity. I stay busy so I don't snack, and there's just more physical activity than I tend to get at home.

Of course, that means I come home and CRASH, but oh well.

Thanks for the advice! I'm just concerned I'm getting obsessed, and it's manifesting itself on vacation by eating too little because I'm worried about eating too much. Has anyone figured this balance out?

I have never lost weight while traveling. Everything gets out of whack--lack of restorative sleep, digestion not normal, too much soda, too much salt, too much sitting during business meetings. Travel always results in at least water retention and more weight for me.
