Hi Linda,

This cake batter thing even sounds like not even nice to eat !. As an answer to your question it could be that you have large swings in your blood sugar because you eat food that burns too fast.
If you eat your body reacts by making insuline to process the sugar. Often, if the food you ate releases the sugar very fast into your blood, the body overreacts and makes too much insulin. Then this excess of insulin causes your blood sugar to a lower level than before, and you crave new sugar to pick up your blood sugar content again. Typical foods that release sugar fast are made with white sugar and white flour. Fat and especially proteine release the sugar slower.

So maybe you can try what Ilene advocates as well: eat like about every 2 or 3 hours, and be sure you take adequate proteine with it. I stir a scoop of soy proteine powder into a glass of orange juice and yoghurt, and this seems to work for me. of course there are much more appetizing alternatives, like mels proteine muffins etc.

good luck,
rabbit (nicely goes with your theme of a zoo)

Megster I can't believe how losing weight has opened so many doors for you...

So far this week has been good for me, not perfect but good in the food and exercise dept...

Meg, you will be a fantastic motivational speaker - we can all attest to that. Good luck - you'll be great. :)

I'm like many of you. The more sugar (and highly processed carbs) I eat, the more I want. It also makes me think about food more often and makes my cravings go through that roof.

I've had a lot of luck with sugar free items. I really feel deprived if I can't have anything sweet, so that's how I handle that. One of my favorite desserts is Murray SF Shortbread cookies - 4 of them are just one point (for any Weight Watchers out there). I feel like I get my treat, but without the sugar. I'm also going to try a dessert that my friend just served her company this weekend. She took fat free/sugar free instant cheesecake pudding and topped it with sugar free cherry pie filling and graham cracker crumbs. I'll just skip the graham crackers because it will be too tempting to over do it. :^:

It's been a good week. I went to step class on Mon and Wed, got in my weights on Tue and tried a new class today. It was called Strength and it was basically weight lifting to music. I enjoyed it so much that I plan to attend once a week now for part of my weights routine. :)

Food's good, too, so I'm pretty positive about this week. It's always amazing to me how easy it is to be "good" during the week and how easy it is to be "bad" on the weekends. My #1 short term goal is to be an angel this weekend. ;)

Sorry I don't post as much as some of you. I do still read every day (which means I'm inspired by you every day). Thanks for that. :)

Meg, I too think you would make an unbelievable motivational speaker!! And like Ilene said, losing weight really has opened so many doors for you. I mean, can you even imagine where you would be now if you had never truly committed to changing your life?? I really believe you are destined for greatness, of course, I kind of think you're already there in my book! Good luck tomorrow and remember to always keep the balance by keeping yourself at the top of your priority list.

Meg,

I am sure you will make a great speaker. The good thing about teens in high school - they are not your childeren so they *might* listen to you! I actually found it rewarding to have teen audience as they tend not to follow parents advices. And since your two are out of school - I guarantee 100% success!!! Please share with us how did it go - I actually wish you come visit my work and do a presentation here :)

Sandy.

Hi Group:
Happy Saturday. Hope everyone takes time for themselves this weekend. I am enjoying the spring weather still a bit cold but its spring.
Taking my own advise for me time this weekend. A walk down by the beach and some relaxing. Food and exercise are better. Not exactly in the weight loss mode but as we all say one baby step at a time. The upside is it is in control and I am content with that.
Everyone seems to have a busy week.
Take care,

sugar-mood swings

Rabbit,

Yeah, you're right about the sugar-insulin swings in my blood stream. :listen: That's probably why I can consume so much of one thing. :moo: (Bet I can't eat as much apple sauce or brocolli!) Thanks for the thought on that.

Tomorrow is a fresh day.

Rabbit, do you have a bunny? I have a black mini lop named josephine. She's my buddy. :D
