Yesterday I was in a real funk about accepting the "do this for the rest of my life" aspect. I was exhausted, probably getting sick, and really forced myself through a workout when all I wanted to do was go to sleep. For the first time in a long time, I started feeling sorry for myself and thought about how nice it would be to buy a BAG of xxx and eat it all :nono: I'm learning, tho. I did NOT wander down any aisles in the store where I'd be tempted to grab something dumb, and I got out as quick as possible knowing that I was feeling fragile. When I got home, I tried to figure out why. It's cold, and supposed to snow some more this week-end. I'm worried about finances. I'm worried about both my kids: one is an overachiever and one is an underachiever :?: I think I really am sick, and haven't had a workout break in months. So that is easily solved.

The biggest funk-buster moment came when I put away some clothes; I caught sight of my really old pair of denim shorts that I couldn't zip on the day I finally said "I don't want to die fat". You know, I can stuff a pillow in there with me now! :D I put them on, and watched them fall off a few times just for the sheer entertainment  Cheap thrills...I may need to keep them in my car for the rest of the winter ;)

Inspite of the fact that I cut my foot on Monday, I've had a good week. Real good.
I've averaged 1568 calories per day. My percentages are about 35-45-20. I walked once, did the elliptical twice and did upper body once and lower body once. And I worked four days.

And something that doesn't happen very often ... I'm not worrying about anything. Although I may try on a pair of too big shorts any way, it sounds like fun!

Hey guys!

This is my first post in the maintainers sections. I posted my story in the Success section. I've been maintianing a 60 pound+ weight loss for almost 4 and a half years.

Eeek....that makes me feel kinda old. :)

As you can see from my sig, I've set my self a goal for the next couple months. I've fallen out of my normal exercise routine and I'm trying to get back into it and tone myself up.

I'm in awe of those who can work out so early. My gym doesn't open until 7am and they also don't offer classes in the morning. I could do the machines, but at that hour, I really need someone there to kick my butt. :)

I love step and kickboxing classes. Step has lost some popularity in my area but I can still find a couple good classes a week. Last night I took a great body bar sculpting class and then a good kickboxing class. Today on my lunch hour I took a boot camp style class. We did about 25 minutes of straight cardio and then circuits for 15 minutes.

My goal is to hit the treadmill this weekend. I'm soooo not a runner but I'm trying to at least jog for 45 minutes a week. We'll see how it turns out.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Rubia  Welcome to Maintainers! I'm off to read your story :)

Hey, I just wrote an introduction so please feel free to check it out :)

Just short: I was mainting at 118 (down from 155) for quiet some time but due to medical reasons gained back the weight. Right now I'm trying to get back to my old weight and feel a bit healthier again.

I do log all my food and exercise and have noticed I have been really bad at getting all the water I need. I'm still sore after my work out 2 days ago with water exersice and cardio.

Today I will go to gym.. not sure what I'll do but my bf will come with me and that is always nice. We will also have guests tonight which I'm sooo looking forward to.

I just wanted to write my first "real" post here :D

Meg 01-22-2005 07:33 AM

Hi Beiby and welcome! We have Silvernight here with us too, from Gothenburg, Sweden - is that anywhere near to you? Have fun at the gym today!

And welcome to Rubia! We love having new posters!

No gym for me here - I'm looking at the snow starting to fall. Here's our local forecast:
Quote:

SNOW WILL BEGIN THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS. SOUTH AND EAST OF PITTSBURGH, EXPECT TODAY'S ACCUMULATION TO BE 6 TO 10 INCHES, WITH ANOTHER 1 TO 3 TONIGHT. WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON, GUSTING TO 35 MPH LATE THIS AFTERNOON. BUT ON RIDGE TOPS, THE GUSTS CAN BE 45 MPH. THIS WILL CREATE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING SNOW. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO KEEP ROADS OPEN....
Good day to stay home, eh? :D I've got a pot of chicken chili bubbling on the stove and a kitten in my lap - cozy as can be!

About the insulin and carb hangovers - I've learned that I can't eat a meal of just carbs without feeling like crap and still being hungry afterwards. :p I've got to add in some protein or it just doesn't work for me. I proably spent most of twenty years in a permanent carb coma before I lost weight, but now that I know how good I can feel, I hate to go back to feeling like I'm sleepwalking through the day. :tired:

Sashenka - fabulous new avatar photo! You look wonderful!

Love your story about the shorts, Mel! :D I've only got one pair of big pants left (the ones in my avatar photo) but I'll never get rid of them. They're the actual pair I wore when I walked in my gym for the first time. :faint: Never thought about driving around with them in my car though - how about carrying them around with me while I'm facing down all the temptations in the grocery store??

It sounds like a lot of us (except Karen!) are going to get snow this weekend. Hope everyone stays snug and warm :) (and doesn't lose power). And after the snow comes ... snow shovel cardio!!

Rubia 01-22-2005 08:02 AM

I'm in New York. We expect lots of snow but it's not going to start for a couple more hours. I'd love to get to the gym this morning but it's 7 degrees out. There's a 10am class so I have another hour to decide if I want to brave it.

If not, I'll try to do a tae-bo tape this afternoon. My dog hates cold weather, but loves the snow. I'm hoping for good amounts of snow so I can take him out and get some pics of him.

Snow or no snow, have a good and safe day! :sman:

Snow? Is that what they call frozen rain? Its been gorgeous here in S. California now that the flooding has stopped.

Hi all, I've been doing very well, and in my search for the right place for me to find company in my non-dieting wl effort, I have started a mailing list for others doing what I am doing at yahoogroups. Fortunately there are a number of us out there. While I really like 3FC, there just really wasnt a place where I fit in very well. I am very pleased with how the new list is shaping up, and someday I hope to be where most of you are - my weight lost, and working on maintaining it. This is not a goodbye, this site is too valuable to not frequent.

Jan -- What do you mean? I love your posts! I sure hope you come back because I certainly will miss you...

Welcome to the new kids on the block... I'll go back in a few minutes and read your intros...

Today I did chest and ran 40 minutes... It was a very long 40 minutes, KWIM? But once it was done I was happy, and I was .10/mile slower than my last run this week... which isn't off by too much but I had to push to make it to that point...

Mel -- "do this for the rest of my life" syndrome, Oh man, I've had a couple of days like that this week too... The winter is getting to us already! Oye!!

Sno-cardio in the forecast here too, it's not pretty out there at all...

I'm off to do some reading...TTFN...

Hi Ilene, Thanks for your comments. I wasnt saying goodbye, I will still be around, perhaps just abit less. Since I am still in the active wl phase, and because my method is different than most people's-- other than the basic eat less, exercise more-- I really have found it difficult to find a place to freely talk about what I am doing, successes, troubles encountered, etc. Afterall, this is a diet site, and I am a non-dieter. It is no one's fault that the method that has brought me food/eating peace, and is working for me to lose weight, is one that most think would send them into eating h*ll.

SNOW CARDIO DONE.
Just chilling out and being lazy is the rule for today. Just need to keep the food monster that comes with this kinda day buried in the snow.

Jan good luck with your new mailing list. You are a success already having found food peace the weight lose is just a bonus.

Good day to all,

Only Me 01-23-2005 05:41 PM

Not much snowfall here. Just an inch or so last night. So I waited until the roads and paths had been cleared and went for a 9.4km run in the (cold) bright sun this afternoon. My mil, on the other hand, has been stuck in Newark airport since yesterday evening and will hopefully be arriving here late tonight.

It's been a quiet weekend. I went shopping today to buy birthday gifts for my kids, whose birthdays are this week (all three of them). Yeah, I know, not really the best timing, but at least I got some good deals--Sears had an extra 30% off the toys that were already on clearance.

Hi All! DSL has been down until today - I am so crummy at figuring out how to add "signatures," avatars and so on! I just spent about an hour trying to add a weight tracker, but I can't even open up the little box with the red "x"! Then I came here and typed a rather longish post and pushed the above button "post reply" above and I lost it all. But the food and exercise has been great today! And all week, so I'm happy. I weigh tomorrow, and hope for a loss. Since starting this Labrada thing, I've lost 6.2# which is a good start. Tomorrow is the end of week 2. Ilene - yes, I AM a trainer; I have already written to Mel, from whom I got a great response. I simply can't believe how wonderful this site is! I hope to find more time to check in faaaarrrr more often and learn about everyone here. There are so many of you/us out there, still working at "this"! I hate to say it's comforting, but I must. Meg's articulate summary of the lecture she went to is a prime example of learning about something that I, too, had always suspected. I just knew that gal next to me was burning more fat than me, even tho I was sweating more! Kidding.........Still, so interesting! The hard part......and Mel, maybe you can help here........how much info (such as the data Meg shared with us about genes and metabolism) should one share with one's clients if most are obese? I suppose, in the case of my ladies (+2 guys!), they will learn lots, for I have told them all to check out this site!

At any rate, I hope you all had a good weekend, not too cold for those of you in brrrrr cold places, and just right in the other parts of the world! Nite! N2L
