lost thread

One of my friends was saying the other day that she is cold all the time since losing weight. I KNOW there was a thread somewhere here about that, plus all the other changes that take place when a person slims down. For the life of me, I can't find it.

Can any of y'all direct me to it?

Thanks in advance!!

Cheryl

Could you be looking for this thread?

I've posted several times about the feeling cold thing. To me, it's sort of like this - for years, I wore the equivalent of a very warm Gore-Tex coat ALL THE TIME - day and night. Kind of like how a whale has its layer of blubber to keep it warm in the cold ocean. That was me alright. :) So when I started losing weight for the last time - in May 1990 - after losing, oh, maybe the first 15-20 pounds, I started feeling CHILLY and having to wear sweaters or sweatshirts (in summer). My support group counselor advised us ahead of time this would happen - like I said, I was used to having that Gore-Tex coat (i.e. my FAT) on 24/7, and now I was losing the insulation. But ya know...the cold was a temporary situation. I just feel normal now - and I remember when I was obese I would be constantly perspiring and out of breath from having to drag my blubbery body around. Not anymore!

Or quoting myself from the above thread:

Now as far as the being hungry all the time, the being cold all the time, the need to exercise constantly - well, yup, there WAS a time when I WAS constantly hungry - but in doing journaling, I've found that a lot of that 'hunger' wasn't 'stomach hunger' but rather 'head hunger'. And especially during the study, I was cold a LOT - naturally since I was used to carrying around a lot more blubber as padding (Since the first part of the study took place during the summer, I did look quite odd wearing sweaters in August!). I can't REMEMBER the last time that's happened - my body has, I think, adjusted to its current weight for the most part.

Hmmm, I'm not cold all the time at all! Maybe my raging hormones have balanced out my loss of blubber? :D

MrsJim--

That's the one! No wonder I couldn't find it! You are truly amazing :)

Thank you!

Hmmm could be. I haven't yet had the pleasure of The Change as yet, although I'm sure it's just around the corner! Hot flashes and mood swings, here I come...(*Jim ducks to avoid flying iron*)
