We too have done that many times. I keep most of the "spare" tools in my toolbox upstairs so we have 2 sets of tools. We pretend this is intentional, to save wear and tear on DH's knees.

At least I'm not the only one who does this! I don't regret buying extra, though. If I have three, I may be able to at least find one :dizzy:

My scale does not need a battery but I'm still not getting on it until I can regulate my food for at least 7 days in a row!!

Just gave my 30 days notice to my dog walking clients. I really am not taking it in yet, this huge life change. I think I will feel it's "real" when we buy the new house. Don't know when or how it will all hit emotionally.

I suspect there may be a lot of potato chips in my life for a couple of days. That seems to have become my go-to for eating when I am stressed or distressed. A bit better than the boxes of cookies I was inhaling during the pandemic.

Giving 30 days notice, Dagmar, makes your move sound imminently real. I've lost track - do you already have a new house in mind?

We have been looking seriously for about a year in a small northern city. DH has quite a bit of family there. He is going to go up to North Bay in March and hopefully buy a house before we list the Toronto property. There is a suitable house there right now but we can't get there yet. I'm pretty sure something else will pop up in March. I've been following real estate there for over 2 years and there are always houses. I really want to have a place to go before we close the Toronto house. Much less stress for everyone that way.

Dagmar

All of that moving sounds scary to me, Dagmar. But I'm sure it will get more exciting once you have the new house. To me, it's the unknown that is so unsettling. The older I get, the more I like my routine and the sense of security it gives me. Good luck with everything!

P.S. I'm not sure that potato chips are any better than cookies, but if you eat less of them, that's good. :)

Alice, I also like the security of knowing where I'll sleep at night. When we were young, DW and I traveled in Europe only looking for a place to stay after we got to a city. Plan B would have been to sleep at the train station. That doesn't appeal any more. Also like the statement you made a month ago, "I want simplicity."

Dagmar, I totally understand this, "I really want to have a place to go before we close the Toronto house." I've had friends in both unpleasant situations: two houses at once; or no house at all for a spell.

We got past a small fruit cake gifted to us by eating one small slice a day. Lots of calories in a small cake. Glad that the holiday season is over.

Good way to handle the cake Bill. Admirable restraint. :cp:

I will be "retired" next Friday. I will start seriously dieting the following Monday.

I'm probably getting close to the weight I was when all this started back in 2007. None of my spring/summer clothes will fit at that weight.

Looking forward to being slimmer again. I hate this caffeine/sugar rollercoaster I've been on for the past 4 years. Time to step off.

Freedom in Retirement

Sending a virtual gold watch to Dagmar upon her retirement.

And a captain's chair with "Dog Wise University" lettered in gold on the back.

And a certificate of appreciation acknowledging years of faithful service. Subtitled, "All her clients loved her."

And a forgettable box store flat cake with too much icing that everyone feels forced to eat a little square from.

BTDT (without the gold watch). There's nothing to miss, LOL.

Congrats on your retirement, Dagmar! And Happy March everyone!

We are having nice spring weather, with rain but not too much rain. The weeds are growing like weeds, and I'm out pulling them every day. I'm trying to turn a large part of our property into a "meadow" with wildflowers that will come back every year. Last year I got a start on it, in a small area, and this year I am delighted with all the wildflower seedlings I see popping up. But I still need to be diligent about pulling the aggressive foxtail grass and mallow aka cheeseweed.

I'm on day 4 of 7 to keep my calories below threshold. When (and if) I complete seven days, I'm going to buy something expensive that I've always wanted, namely music composition and recording software and equipment. In my youth I played concert flute, and in the past 8 months I've taken up the Native American flute. If I get through seven days, I hope the new eating pattern will also have become a habit and I can continue. Yesterday I was able to resist the pizza that DH cooked for dinner. Determination, baby!!

Did my first weights workout in a while. I always enjoy doing the workout once I talk myself into it. I'm going to start doing them 3x per week instead of 2x. I've noticeably lost strength in the 3 weeks I haven't been doing them. :lifter:
