Sunday morning at 160.8.

I had a busy morning, went to a 10:50 AM movie, "Wonderstruck," which was engrossing but left me moody and introspective for the rest of the day, and I didn't get anything done that I'd hoped -- no pedicure, no laundry, no cooking. But I did do more itinerary planning for our trip, which is coming up so soon, on Wednesday.

Monday morning at 161.5.

This is disappointing because I was on the move constantly yesterday: Grocery store, gym, nail salon, two big loads of laundry, paying online bills, batch cooking and more Internet searches related to itinerary planning. One of those weekend days that really feels like a working day, only working in the business that is running one's life.

Yes, and so it wasn't until afternoon that I heard about the latest mass shooting. Is this going to happen every month?

My last full day at work before my trip to Arizona. My mother arrives today to accompany me.

Am throwing away the rest of the Halloween tiny chocolate bars. Thought I could limit myself to 2 per day but that's just not working out.

I'm doing really poorly at eating healthy. With the holidays coming up, I really need to get some good habits set up. They're doing a "maintain, not gain" team challenge at work, so I'm signing up with a friend, which means if I gain weight over the holidays I'm not just hurting myself, I'm hurting her chances at this too, so hopefully that will be a good motivator. Now I need to convince myself that this does NOT mean I should eat as much junk as possible before the weigh-in so that I have a better chance.

One more workout to go for NRLW which I'm planning to do today after getting thrown off last week by pulling a muscle in my leg. Tomorrow I'm getting the ganglion cyst in my wrist looked at to see if they can do something to drain it or remove it, which will throw a wrench into weight lifting for a while but in the long run should make it easier for me to do exercise. (Right now, for example, yoga is really hard because I can't put any weight on my flat hand, it has to be a fist with my wrist straight to put any weight on it.)

Still looking for good workout options after this. I want something that will be fun, strengthening, and not too repetitive.

Overall a good weekend for me, but I've definitely been fighting something that is lingering. I just feel achy-- sore knees which is unusual for me. I spent too much time on getting my hair and nails done which both needed doing but took big chunks of my days. So, I feel I didn't get enough accomplished.

My weight is ever so slowly decreasing. I'm only a couple pounds over my redline now. I'm hoping the holidays don't derail me. I have a dinner planned Thursday night with work friends (Italian) and then my yearly physical is Friday where I'll get weighed in. I'm sure Friday (afternoon-- after lunch!) won't be the best time for a weigh in!

Happy Monday all!

Dagmar, I threw away half a bag of Dove peanut butter-filled chocolates. Like Reese's only better. Same problem with trying to limit my consumption.

My DH just returned from visiting his daughter & family in Jourdanton, Texas. They live less than 30 miles from the town that suffered the horrible shooting.

Michele, I hate getting weighed at the doctor's. If I have an afternoon appt I will virtually fast all day. Funny how I don't do that when I'm trying to lose.

I've been slightly restricting calories to get back below 125 and finally saw 124.5 this morning. Now if I can just keep doing it until T-day, to give myself a little cushion.

Happy Monday and Happy November to everyone!!

My weight finally moved down a little, first change since 10/7. I'm now down just at 20# since 7/11. DH is down 32# in that same time period.

Tuesday morning at 163.3, which shocked me, even after dining on salty pre-made chicken sausage patties last night.

This is the first morning of my just-short-of-two-week-long vacation, the longest vacation I've ever taken from work. We fly out to Phoenix tomorrow morning. Today is a day for getting more stuff done, like picking up a toner cartridge to print out boarding passes and a visit to the P.O. to stop the mail and to the bank for cash.

I'm still looking over my tentative itinerary. Will we have time to visit the Botanical Garden in Papago Park before we head out to Sedona? I want to stop at Montezuma's Castle along the way. The daylight hours are so short in November. We have three days in Sedona, then two nights at the Grand Canyon, a night again at Sedona, and then two more nights at a casino resort in the Scottsdale area before flying back.

About three years ago, when I visited the Valley of Fire in Nevada, I put a piece of small red sandstone in my pocket and brought it home with me to NY. I put it on my bedside table, where it's been for a couple years, and I said, "This is a promise: I'm going back there, to that red rock country." Well, now I'm going to be there.

saef Enjoy the "red rock" country!

I'm giggling at the weigh-ins at the doctor. My doctor just asks what my last weight was on my home scale and enters that into my profile. I generally do weigh myself the morning of my yearly physical and it's always in my "winter weight" range - 135-138 lbs.

Going to be a rough rest of the week. Starting a sleep-over tomorrow. Have to come home every evening around 8 to walk Trixie, bringing the 2 goldens I'm sitting along. At least I begged off any dinner walks with other dogs so I'm doing 6 dog walks every day rather than 7.

I hope DH's hours normalize soon. My feet and legs are starting to give out.

Your trip sounds lovely, Saef. I hope you see some amazing sights!

My morning was a comedy of errors this morning. I guess I managed to kill a second blender making my morning shakes. I started the blender up and went to make my coffee. I turned around and almost all of the shake was EVERYWHERE-- from the counter to the wall to the floor to everything in its path. I mopped it all up and thought the bottom was just loose so I tightened it and started over. This time I watched it when I started it and it started leaking almost right away. So, I ended up with a partially blended shake for breakfast and all of the blender bits thrown in the sink to deal with later. Ugh.

Good luck with the pet sit Dagmar!!

And excellent job on the weight loss, Shannon! I didn't know dh was working at losing with you. That's awesome!

Wednesday morning, a few hours from the car picking us up for the airport.

I'm at 162.5, which seems about right, as the salt starts to wash away from my ill-chosen dinner. Off to the gym to burn off some of my agitation over this trip. And then off into the slog at the airport and the crammed full plane.

I am at the office and have just had the lunch I packed. There is no other food here, as far as I know. All is calm, tranquil and serene (although my shoulder hurts a bit).

We don't have annual physical examinations here. I'm presuming it's linked more to insurance premiums than to actual health.

Have a lovely time, saef! Tell us about it when you get back.

Dagmar, I always like it when you mention your winter and summer weights. Good luck with the pet sit and all that goes with it.

Took a first step today of getting out my kitchen scale and measuring my breakfast, and then dutifully recording it into myfitnesspal. I've been weighing regularly for a long time, and today I pulled up the weight over time chart and was confronted with the frankly troubling truth that I've gained more than 5lbs since this time last year. It's true that most of the gain came starting when my dad was dying, but I've had plenty of time to shape up since then and I haven't been doing it. The good news is my weight has remained very stable the past month.

My winter clothes don't fit very well. I know they'll fit better if I lose 5lbs. 5lbs isn't a lot, not when I'm at 155, so it's time to get cracking.

Birchie - insurance plans will pay for one preventative care physical per year, with approved testing. Anything they check for not on the list you pay for. Ex. - tests my cholesterol, an EKC, BP, basic metabolic panel. Extra testing of my thryoid or Vitamin D or whatever I pay for separately. Prior to the ACA, one pyhsical was still covered per year under a doctor's office copay and most of the testing went to preventative so was exempt from deductible or coinsurance billing.

Jessica - my winter clothes aren't fitting very well, either. Bah.

Thanks, Shannon. I know you deal with this, day in day out. It sounds so complicated to me, brought up with free healthcare for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your winter clothes situation, and yours too, Jessica. You're right that 5lbs will make a big difference. I think I've lost about 5lbs and my bras are fitting better somehow. I still have a long way to go though.
