JayZeeJay, my son takes Hapkido lessons from Grand Master Dave Weatherly. He ran the seminar, which was open to anyone over 12 and was only $35. Highly recommend it if you ever get the chance!

No more exercise for a while. Briefly: I got hit pretty hard by a car on Tuesday morning while I was walking to the gym. The driver made a sudden left turn into me in the crosswalk. I am just home to my apartment after four days in the hospital. I have a bad tibular plateau fracture in my left leg, which is strapped down to a brace. I hop on a walker. My mother has moved in with me while I recover. I also have abrasions in my scalp, a badly strained neck and a really blown up right ankle, which I probably rolled. I am on Perocet with aspirin as a blood thinner. My mother is telling everyone who calls asking after me that I haven't moved my bowels in four days, so I may as well share that fascinating fact here, too. More at some point in the future ... my neck is so sore, I don't care for sitting at the laptop for more than a few minutes at a time.

Hey, I wasn't killed, and the doctor said this is something you can recover from. I've got plates and screws in my knee & he says they will stay there. I don't think I will run a lot in the future.

For gods sake, saef!!!! How terrible for you! I'm so, so sorry!

The bowel problem is from the Percocet. See if your doc will prescribe lactulose or allow you to take Miralax. In any case, check with your doc. My partner developed this while undergoing radiation treatment and taking something similar for pain, and she ended up in the ER having an emergency enema, which was not pleasant for anyone...

Oh, I am hoping everything mends well!

Life is a crap shoot. Control is an illusion.

OMG, I'm sorry. That totally s*cks. It's a bad joke in my family that "exercise is bad for you" because nearly everyone I'm related to by blood or marriage has had serious injuries from exercise, but this is the first time I've heard of someone getting injured on their way to exercise. Here's to a speedy and complete recovery.

saef, just dropping in over here to wish you well. Good to hear that you've recovered enough to celebrate that it wasn't worse.

Checking in to report that lots of vegetables and Milk of Magnesia ended the long streak that my mother was worrying aloud over to every well-wisher who called my apartment.

I really appreciate your good wishes and suggestions. I'm figuring out how to get through a day, how much sitting upright I can take and how much napping I need. Also bolstering myself for a lot of phone calls tomorrow regarding the accident report and insurance companies. There is something called "no fault" that I need to get through.

Go bowels! Well done, saef.

Sleep a lot is my recommendation. Well, that's my standard recommendation, and what I tell myself all the time. It's early days for you yet.

Thanks for checking in. Hope today goes well.

Oh geez Saef, that is absolutely rotten. I'm so sorry. I wish you the very best recovery possible. And I hope that "no fault" does not refer to the driver who hit you in a CROSSWALK.

I'm glad your bowels are working, saef. Don't sign anything until you talk to a lawyer. Seriously.
