January 8: 90 minutes Bikram yoga Totals: 7 days 640 minutes |
Wednesday, Jan. 9th:
45 minute spin class with weight intervals, a tough one, though I did discover I felt really fresh after not spinning since Sunday. That's what I need, confirmation that mixing up my routine doesn't result in losses but rather in gains. ETA: I mean, not weight gains, but gains in having more strength, a better life, etc. ;-) |

Sunday, Jan. 13th:
15 minutes Stairmaster stepmill, resistance at nine, random intervals 60 minutes shoulders, biceps and triceps routine 45 minutes spin class, straight-up spin. Could feel the woman on my left always looking at me in class, even turning her head slightly. Hadn't seen her in any spin classes before so she may have been learning the "choreography" of the various positions we go through, though she didn't tell the instructor she was new before class began. Now in January many instructors are starting the classes by asking the room in general if anyone is new to whatever we're doing. Particularly for spin so that they can fit the new people correctly to their bikes. |

January 12: 90 minutes bikram yoga January 13: first time I've ever tried back to back bikram yoga classes-- I won't do it often but it was amazing! I had a snack between classes and I had quite an indulgent lunch afterwards so I'll be curious about what the scale reports tomorrow. 185 minutes Bikram Yoga Totals: 13 workouts (I'm counting workouts rather than days this year) 1155 minutes |
January 11:
-DB bench press, DB shoulder press w/bicep curls, KB swings and lunges, DB and KB tricep extensions, seated cable row, about 15 min cardio January 13: -20 min HIIT on arc trainer |
Monday, Jan 14th:
60 minutes total on elliptical, resistance at nine, alternating backward & forward. This was split as a 10-minute warmup and then 50 minutes after training session. My training session today was again in deadlifts, doing the clean jerk, and today we used the squat cage. I am a beginner at this, but wanted to record where I am with each move. These are for 10 reps apiece: 75 lbs squat 70 lbs deadlift 40 lbs military press I'm not going to record every pound of my progress here, but I will revisit this thread in a few months to see how far I've gotten on, hopefully beyond these starting weights & reps. |
January 14: Cathe Friedrich CrossFire (56 minutes)
45 minutes weight lifting (biceps triceps and chest) 10 minutes foam rolling |
Tuesday, Jan. 15th:
60 minutes Stairmaster stepmill, resistance at nine, random intervals, split up in two 30-minute sessions. The initial session was a killer, the second one not as bad. 60 minutes chest, shoulders and triceps workout. It is getting easier to bench-press the 60-lb barbell for 17 consecutive reps, which I do about five times in this particular workout. I will miss yoga tonight, only the second session after trying to fulfill my resolution -- but it's for an excellent cause, as I'll be at the local zoning board advocating for our floodwall. |

Oh, no, Ward, you're gonna need mold remediation, which means guys in space suits spraying chemicals on you. The dog will shake & shake himself out like he's been swimming.
Friday, January 18th: 30 minutes Stairmaster stepmill, aerobic intervals, resistance at nine 60 minutes back & biceps routine 30 minutes back on the Stairmaster Was feeling like pushing myself today & bumped weights up to 25 lbs for rows -- which, for my gym, is bad@ss for a woman. |
lol, saef! No need for chemical sprays because the sun came out!!! Finally! And by the way, I have no doubt that you are bad@ss with all your workouts.
Jan. 18: mat pilates class (Afterwards a very sweet woman who only ever sees me lifting weights told me she was impressed by how graceful I am, which is really a surprise to me because the whole time I was feeling like a football player in a room full of ballerinas. Made my day!) Also, 65 min elliptical and 40 min DOG WALK! woot! |
