Keeping Gary in our prayers as he tackles his first round of chemo today.
Hoping the weather starts improving. I'm getting really tired of the humidity.
Last night we had a weird experience. Just before 5:30 PM we started hearing strange noises--loud, infrequent, kind of a soft boom kind of noise. DH and I both wondered what it was, but when DS came in to ask, we decided to investigate. Outside the air was smoky, but not with a fire smell. DH thought it smelled like gunpowder, perhaps from fireworks, but I thought it smelled a bit more electrical. A little bit later the fire department arrived and was on scene for over an hour. The smell dissipated, and eventually the fire department left. All this occurred in a undeveloped area just one house away from ours where there is a pump station to pump water up the hill (we have series of pump stations like this going up the hill). I inquired on Facebook and a local reporter indicated that Edison was on it's way that they thought it was a transformer malfunction. (Wouldn't that have caused an electrical outage?) I still don't know just what it was.
Aside from the Happy Birthday song for Jessica ...I hear music...Ah! It is The Triumphal March from Aida as I march out of my house wearing jeans that I have not been able to button for months.
Thanks everyone! I am now officially old (30). I spent yesterday at an all-day outdoor career fair doing recruiting for my company and it was super exhausting. Good thing someone brought sunblock!
Dagmar, I hope you can get your dad into a facility quickly.
Happy birthday to you, Jessica. I don't know what your 30s will bring, but I can tell you that, for me, they were a vast improvement over my 20s and were a time when I started to feel my own power. So I am hoping that is true for you, as well.
