Hey there Chris! I saw you last week but haven't said hello yet. I was reading your post from last week about free trade dark chocolate as I ate breakfast and was wishing I had that instead of plain yogurt. :)
Allison -your dad still climbs up on his roof? Wow. Dagmar - I've never heard of the year worth of rent checks either. Wow. I just had to vacate my office for a few minutes for some maintenance work, so I ran to Home Depot to get a calcium supplement for my garden. My tomatoes are fantastic but have a few brown spots. |
Hi folks!
Dagmar, that is a crappy situation. I also think it's weird that you have to give the landlord a year's worth of checks in advance. What's to stop him from trying to cash them all at once? :?: Bill, we got some snap peas from our garden recently too although they are done now. We got garlic scapes last week, and DH started harvesting the garlic as well. We got our first CSA share Thursday! Pea shoots, sunflower shoots, arugula, kale, lettuce, cilantro, spinach, and strawberries. This Thursday we are getting salad turnips (anyone know what to do with those?), kohlrabi, more pea shoots, and I don't remember what else. Greens of some variety. There are a lot of movies coming out this summer. I think DH and I are going to be going pretty much weekly even though usually we only go twice a year. This past weekend we went to see Prometheus, which was good (although a little heavy on the blood and guts). I think this coming weekend we will go see Snow White and the Huntsman. |

Speaking of my brother. He has harvested 60 pounds of cherries from his tree--and he's only half done! Geez! Jessica~I enjoyed Snow White and the Huntsman. We went to Prometheus yesterday and it was enjoyable except for the jerk behind us who kept kicking our seats. Both DH and I had to ask him to stop. Mind you this was not some small kid. He was easily in his 50's and never acknowledged that he'd done anything. And by kicking I mean big kicks followed by a push (the chairs rock, so this is quite evident). Even my pushing back into his foot didn't deter him. Then there was the kid in front of me--he rocked incessantly but it didn't bother me and no, I didn't kick his seat. At the end of the movie he declared "I hope they do a second one" to which we all laughed--this being the prequel to what? 6 Alien movies?!?!? |
Our rent cheques, except the July one, are all postdated. I think this only applies if you sign a lease.
I took Mishka to the vet today. Thank goodness for credit cards! $750 for a couple of tests, sedation, and flea stuff for the both of them :yikes: And he doesn't recognize Mudpie and is yowling and hissing at her. Gonna be a long evening. Plus he's gained another lb. (he's 17.4 lbs. now :sumo:) so I'm going to have to cut back even further on his food. I probably won't see DH until tomorrow morning. He had calmed down quite a bit this morning. Now the final call from my dad (insults, threats, orders) and then I'm done for this week I hope. Tomorrow will be much, much better. Good evening all! Dagmar :tired: |
Dagmar, what would make Mishka not recognize Mudpie?

Mud :drill: weighs a tad under 10 lbs. Mishi :mouse: is now a bit over 17. Being the boss in life is all about attitude (at least in the feline world). We let Mud be the "bully" because Mishi could very well physically kill her otherwise. All is quiet this morning. Mud is currently eating Mishi's food and he's snoring on the couch. Dagmar  |
Good morning Dagmar - may all facets of your life become this tranquil, "All is quiet this morning. Mud is currently eating Mishi's food and he's snoring on the couch."

Good morning everyone! I've been following this thread for quite awhile, and thought I'd introduce myself.
I've been within my WW maintenance range since the middle of October, the longest I've ever maintained!:carrot: Still attend meetings every week. Checked last week, I've attended 41 meetings in a row. Shooting for a year of perfect attendance. For exercise, I've been doing the NROL4W. Starting Stage 7 tomorrow. A few personal facts, 52, girl, married, grown twin boys, each have 1 little girl and great wives. Live on a farm in western Nebraska, work for a veterinarian, have 3 dogs and 1 cat. @ Mudpie, My hubby is a cranky old fart a lot of the time too. I'll chime in more later, but right now, I have to get my behind to work. WW meeting tonight. |
janelle, welcome and congratulations on a great loss.

Welcome Janelle!!!!
In regard to the cat not recognizing the other after the vet: yesterday, Chico went to work with me and I had to leave him at the office with DH while I ran a few errands. Boy did he give me the once over when I returned! I don't think he's ever sniffed me so much! All I did was go to the bank! |
Welcome Janelle!
I also am a lifetime WW'er. I no longer attend weekly meetings but I think it is a great habit to do so. I worked part-time as a receptionist for them for about 4 years just quitting last month. I went to a meeting on Saturday for the first time in a long time. It felt good. I also used to work for vets-- for 15 years. Now I'm an elementary school librarian, but I always have lots of pets-- 2 dogs and 2 cats currently which is the norm for us. |
Janelle :welcome2:
Did the final confrontation with my dad. Kinda ludicrous - while threatening me he had to lean on the wall for support. He leaves for the airport at 7 p.m. I have my phone ringer turned off - he didn't quite get finished shouting at me as I exited "his" house. What an *ss! At his age you'd think he'd know better. He's gone. :yay: DH signed the 12 rent cheques last night and I put them in the mail this morning. I won't even go into his new scheme for employment or our life together. SIGH. He's working at his 2nd job tonite so I won't see him 'til tomorrow a.m. Again I'm leaving the ringer off on the phone and having a peaceful night with the cats and the last epi of "The Killing". :sunny: Such a cheerful show. Talked to the vet this morning and Mishi's kidneys are just fine. So is his thyroid. Blood glucose is a bit elevated but that may be due to stress. I'm going to try to get him off his current GI food and on to something for pre-diabetic cats. Hope it works. I'm going to make my ribs and salad now and enjoy a peaceful evening. Same to you all - the peaceful evening part. :D Dagmar :beach: |
Hey all! What started out as good day, quickly turned to stress and worry.
My oldest son is a trooper and SWAT Sniper. The whole crew is still on a SWAT call. Alleged perp, shot his father, some one else and then robbed a pharmacy, shot a local pd officer, took a hostage, then shot a SWAT officer. Nerve wracking. So, now, my son was not one of the shot. Hostage is free, PD officer and SWAT officer, superficial wounds will survive. But, the standoff is ongoing. My son will be there until it's over. My DIL is absolutely frantic, as I am. I wish I could do more to comfort her and myself. It's rare this kind of thing happens out here in the panhandle of Nebraska. Sorry to introduce myself and then dump, but wow, what a stressful day, it was several hours before I knew it was NOT my son who had been shot.:dizzy: On the positive side, I sucked it up and went to WW tonight, can't change the situation. Weighed in 1 pound under goal!:carrot Officially 42 weeks in a row perfect attendance. Finally got a 16 week charm. Umm, thinking I should get 2.:?: It's all good, the group I attend is great! :D |

Janelle, praying that this situation will be resolved quickly and that there be no more shooting and everyone will stay safe,
