Sunday, April 22:

15 minutes on Stairmaster step mill, resistance at seven, aerobic intervals
60 minutes shoulders, biceps & triceps routine
45 minutes arc trainer, hill intervals, resistance at nine

A lot of lifting women in the gym this morning, which was good to see, including a trainer working with a new trainee. I am rooting for the new trainee. He started her off with 15 lbs, which is what I myself am finally working up to, with my high-rep (16-17 reps) routine.

I too finally did a lifting routine this morning after 4 weeks off with two nagging back injuries. I feel like I am in control of my body again. :yay:
I'm hoping to retone all the muscles that have been rapidly flabbing up.

Skinny jeans here I come! :strong:

Dagmar

Monday, April 23:

45 minute spin class, mostly at race pace, in which I learned, once again, that I am better at endurance than at sprinting
15 minute Pilates routine afterward. Feeling like a freak doing the Hundred, since Pilates is not all that common around here and I'm not sure many passersby understood why I was patting the air beside my hips like a spastic seal.

And soon, off to Lancaster on this sleety day, expecting to meet with snow in the southern tier, as a lot of schools delayed opening down there this morning.

I hope the cat is okay on his own for the next two days with someone coming in to feed & water him periodically. He will hate confinement and sleeping alone on the pillows of the made-up beds.

Friday, April 20: Running up and down stairs to get ready for our party.
Saturday, April 21: Walked maybe 4 miles through Montreal.
Sunday, April 22: Same
Monday, April 23: Hope I can squeeze in the gym after work. Going to do planks in my office shortly.

April 23:
-10 minutes on treadmill at 7 mph and 1.5 incline for warmup.
-3 x 10: bent dumbbell rows (25#), barbell curl (not sure how much - more than last time though), lat pull (50#), bench press (50#), planks
-8 minutes on cross trainer at incline 5, resistance 40.
Workout was cut short because I got so hungry I thought I was going to get sick. Danced and did not drink beer at Passion Pit concert.

Wow! I didn't realize I'd gotten behind. Too busy? Or not enough focus? Hmmm...

Tuesday, April 24:

60 minutes going backward with pretty high resistance on a nice but barely functional elliptical in the exercise room at a Days Inn & Suites exercise room. This room looked great through the window but up close, the only thing operational was a treadmill.

Someone needs to do a survey of motels and rate the exercise rooms. I would be part of the target market, especially in an area like this, which caters to tourists and is swarming with budget motels.

Wednesday, April 25:

Just over 55 minutes walking a treadmill at 3.8 mph on a 2-degree incline, which is enough to bother my arthritic big toe joints. This should have been an hour, but -- TMI alert -- TMI on its way -- I had to jump off & run for the bathroom, likely due to my eating far more food for dinner than I'm accustomed to having at the smorgasbord the night before.

Thursday, April 26:

After an extraordinarily slow start for me, during which I still felt tired from the short but intense Lancaster trip, I finally made it to the gym.

15 minutes on Stairmaster step mill, aerobic intervals, resistance at seven, completely hands-free, just kind of pumping my arms beside me like a runner. It's much harder to do this than resting my hands lightly on the rails for balance while climbing.
60 minutes back and biceps routine, with all the lat pulldowns
45 minutes arc trainer, resistance at nine, hill intervals

I need to silence the voice in my head that critiques my body and appearance -- rather than my form, as it ought to do -- while I'm handling weights in front of the mirror. It would help if I wore my favorite gym outfit, rather than my least favorite.

Friday, April 27:

45 minute spin class, which felt a little easier than usual, till about the last quarter
15 minutes Pilates routine, done from memory, as my little piece of paper with the routine on it was in my purse at home. I think I did okay.

Thursday, April 26: 4 1/2 miles running outside on the bike path. Total time: about 47 minutes.
