The LAST 10...how long did it take?

I just found an old "12 week progress log" back from 2008. It took me 5 months to drop from 163lbs to 148lbs! My bf% was 19.7% at 163 and dropped to 16.7% at 148lbs. I remember eating "low carb" and working out 4-5 days/week on the eliptical. Very little to no weight training.

Currently, I weigh 163lbs. and am probably about 19-20% bf. I'm completely and TOTALLY impatient. I'm hoping NOT to have to wait 5 months to drop the last vanity pounds.

I'm of the belief, "if you do what you've been doing...you will get what you've been getting". That said, I'm currently eating a diet rich in protein, veggies and low in fat and am calorie counting. I eat approx. 1500-1600 cals./day. I allow myself one CHEAT meal per week (2000-2200 cals day). I also run approx. 18-19 miles/week. I do full bodyweight pullups, pushups, etc., but no weights as of yet and I could truly be more regular with this.

So far...my fat loss has been pretty linear...and I've averaged 1.5-2.0lb loss weekly. I feel that my body is getting prepared to FIGHT me...I donno how to explain this...but I'm soooo in tuned with my body....I just know it!:(

So as to not be too "anxious", I thought I'd find out you all's experience with dropping the "last 10"...how long did it take? Any suggestions? Tricks?

Thanks:hug:

Hi Joyful! I had to restrict my caloric intake to below 1500 (about 1250-1400 calories daily, with no cheat meals) in order to drop from the 140s into the 130s. I, too, run 20 miles per week.
You're taller than I, so perhaps you won't have to be as restrictive, but it's absolutely true that you have to be spot-on with the concept of calories in, calories out as you get lighter and lighter.
It took me a long time to drop the 10 pounds: about 6 months. I always have to shake my head when I read about folks losing 2 pounds per week...but I realize everything in life is relative.
Congratulations on your amazing loss to date!

It did not take me long at all. I started out just cutting back portions. When I got to the last 10, I bought a food scale and started counting calories more carefully. It actually took me around 7 weeks............

I'll let you know in 10 more pounds. ;)

I've been fighting the last 30! I hit 75 pounds lost back in November and have only lost 15 since then, and these last 8 have come off really fast. :dizzy: So who knows!

I've always told myself I wasn't going to care how long it took to get the last 10 off. Now that it's here, I really just want some new clothes. LOL! So hurry up already!

As you can see from my sig, it took me about 3 1/2 months to lose the last 10. :)

7 months and 1 week to lose the last 10 pounds.

I was eating at maintenance level and my body slooooowly drifted to its final chosen weight. After there was no further loss for a month, I called myself having been done the month before when the last pound left. So it took me 8 months and 1 week to know that it was all over.

Well, I took a very different approach for the last 5 lbs and it only took a few weeks. Instead of further restriction, I tried to estimate the lower end of maitnenance cals for my goal weight and ate that. So for example, I wanted to weigh around 140, so I did some reseach with the online calculatorss I had been using to lose weight to determine that for me to maintain 140 I would need to eat 1600-1800 cals with much higher cals on the weekends. So I increased my cals and the weight dropped off. Before I was eating around 1500-1700 with only one cheat meal on the weekend. Now I'm actually maintaining the lower 140s at 1800-2000 with binging issues on the weekend and if I could get those binging issues under control, I'd probably be maintaining in the high 130s, but that's an entirely different thread :). Anyways, just a different approach to consider.

WOW...thanks for sharing your stories. I'm hoping it doesn't take me another 5 months...but I'm prepared to FIGHT for these last few pounds with everything I've got. I'm taking NO PRISONERS...and am placing myself in a NO EXCUSE zone!

I'm hoping I can be like Nunceo and just EAT my way to goal...lol! Seriously though...I LOVE FOOD...and eating more to lose...that's right up my alleyway..haha!

Thanks again all!
