We're pretty much agreed that planning food is a Good Thing.
What about planning exercise?
I usually have a rolling programme of exercise. If I have to miss one day, I do the exercise the next day I can. This month, though, I'm doing things differently - just to see, and also in an attempt to cut out unnecessary decision-making and streamline my life. (It's hectic here. Phew.)
This is the idea. A 6 week programme of cardio and 3-way split weights.
M - chest & tris
T - 15 mins each intervals on rower, X-trainer, stepper
W - back & bis
Th - cardio as Tues
F - legs
S&S - active rest (swimming, gardening, work on winter wood supply, etc)
Warm up and 20 mins stretching as well M-F.
The DB went back to school today so it's back to routine rather than the period of imaginative juggling I have been in. Today and tomorrow are Warm Ups (15 mins each TM & rower, 20 mins stretching).
Sounds like a good plan Silverbirch.
I think I'm going to keep trying to get in a good amount of exercise 6-7 days a week but I may try some new things-- change things up, etc.
Silverbirch, I think it's a great idea to plan exercise. I've been following a training program for a half-marathon on September 12. When that's over, I will make a schedule like yours. I'm hoping to incorporate a couple classes at the gym and some weight training.
Sounds like a good plan Silverbirch.

I need to join this thread! After more than 6 weeks of hit or miss (mostly miss) exercising, I need to get back to a routine or winter will be upon us and I'll "hermit up" in my house!
I'll be back later with a plan, but yesterday I went canoeing with DH for 2 hours, and then square dancing for about 2 hours of actual dancing in the evening (there was also a 1/2 hour or so of festivity for someone's b'day that included an ice cream cake, but I passed. )
Weds Sept. 1: 45 minute spin class at 6 AM, then got in my car & drove to the Cape
Then began my three mornings of running. I haven't run in a while & wondered how I'd do & whether my feet would hold up. By the third day, my left foot gave me some warnings. But I had the breath for it & had no problem with going continuously. I am not a good judge of pace. Running is so mental; it requires strategizing & it also requires asking -- no, DEMANDING -- effort from oneself. I could have run harder but held back to go steadily because I didn't know how much I'd have. I see why a heart monitor would be really helpful if I did this regularly.
Thurs Sept. 2: 3 mile run in the village of Wellfleet, 8 miles of walking for the rest of the day (wore my pedometer) at the Wellfleet Audubon & up & down Commercial Street in Provincetown
Fri Sept. 3: 3 mile run in Wellfleet, wondering about the hurricane, and the rest of the day not walking much as we drove in rain
Sept. 4: Last run in Wellfleet, about a mile & a half, but trying to go faster, and then a mile & a half of walking, avoiding puddles left by the night's rainstorms as Hurricane Earl passed by.
birch - sounds like a Good Plan!
welcome Pat!

my exercise:
sept 1: yoga 35 mins
sept 2: -
sept 3: -
sept 4: 20mins running, then 5 min yoga, followed by mad dash to the car because I had forgotten a garage appointment. Followed by errands, attending my moms birthday (cake & chinese) and going over to a friend who is going through a difficult marital time (wine).
Not pretty, but some things have priority.
Today: planning a run & yoga, plus the usual laundry & cleaning marathon. the weather is gorgeous, but I don't think my energy will run to gardening. maybe a swim. we'll see.
DD is going back to school tomorrow, so time for a new routine for me.
Sun. Sept 5: 45 minute spin class
45 minutes weights, which felt good in my hands. (I missed my Friday session while out of town.)
I wore tank tops and a halter while on the Cape & felt okay about showing my arms in public, even though loose skin has left some slack in them in certain positions. This is all due to handling weights for the past year.
