Shannon, we had a recent case where a builder wasn't providing port-a-potties for the workers so they'd, um, deposit waste in the crawl spaces of the houses they were working on. He got fined big time for that. Don't know if he had to clean out the crawl spaces, though.

So is the bronze statue of Martha in the same position as the taxidermied, posed as dead Martha? Or is it a flying-pose statue? Inquiring minds want to know.

 Oh, eww. Could you imagine if you were renovating your own house and found human poo in the crawl spaces? I have found human pooh in inappropriate places and it's really never pleasant... somehow raccoon or coyote pooh is at least part of nature, it makes it better.

I was totally doing a quick fly-by lurk before hitting the gym and had to respond to that! Been at work since 6:45 AM, just leaving now, 5:40 PM. Things broke, things got lost, things took longer than they should have... is it only Monday? I actually had quite a nice, relaxing weekend off. BF and I spent the day together on the boat and scalloping Saturday. We ate some yummy scallops with pasta last night for dinner. I've got a(nother) super busy week at work ahead.

Jessica, glad the trial run w/ the dogsitter went well!

Wendy, I agree w/ what others have said. If you're newer to running, train for your 5K and then take it from there. Good luck!

Have a good week everyone!

Bronze Martha looks a little better. :) Thanks, Bill. I had no idea she was there.

Are you originally from the Boston area? Do you remember Woodsie the owl? (I'm Braintree born/raised)

OK, I'm over it. 3rd time that the dotch team were in the world cup final, and 3rd time we were 2nd place. AAAARRRGGHH! But it was a heroic battle. Both teams were very good. And as the coach said "loosing is also part of the game". They will have a 'boat parade anyway in Amsteram today, and I still think they did a marvellous job.

So back to normal here. The weather is till hot, I'm hopefully on the last day of working form home befor I take off for my holiday.

Have a great day all,
Rabbit

<Waving toward Braintree - "Not just the end of the Red Line anymore">

Not a native by local standards - only been around here for 45 years, LOL. Maybe my kids will be considered natives since one has a birth certificate from Mass General Hospital.

I remember Woodsy the Owl, vaguely. Was he associated with Massachusetts?

Mudpie 07-13-2010 06:01 AM

I digress - and it's kinda gross

I'll bet that builder's employee turnover was very high. If your workers are that hostile then you can't be treating them with respect.

As you all can imagine my "animal poo yarns" are quite ah, impressive :barf:. The ickiest one concerning the depositing of animal waste in the house involves my cousin's cat.

They had some sort of space underneath the front of their house that could be accessed by crawling through a small hole under the basement stairs. They weren't aware of the hole.

They couldn't figure out, even though they cleaned the cat box and scooped daily, why their basement always smelled like cat poop.

Then they decided to reno the basement and the contractor took a look under the stairs and at the front. Apparently Toby (one of their two cats) had been making his umm, deposits there for a long time.

My lucky cousin got to clean up what he estimated were over 200 :yikes: poops. He had quite a few showers at the end of that Herculean task.

Good day all!

Dagmar :p

Well I am in the right place today....

I just finished "collecting" my stool sample for my physical next week...

At least the collecting is a lot easier than it used to be AND no diet restrictions!

lucky me...lol....

carry on....

Can I bring a thread to your attention?
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...ling-good.html

I can remember thinking that just a few more pounds would be great ... and a couple more ... but I've never solved it. I just regained ;) I'd really appreciate if you folks would have a look and perhaps offer a little insight. Thanks

Sheila53 07-13-2010 10:22 AM

Yikes! I shouldn't have told that story, but it made an impression on me for sure.

No shelter for me today--my back feels terrible after hauling all that stuff around yesterday. I cringe at what a big, young Lab could do to me. I'm not sure if I should go to my training session tomorrow. The idea of it already makes me hurt, but she was gone last week, and I hate to miss a session. But then again, I want to walk upright again, too. And sit comfortably. I'd say I hobble like a grandma, but my grandmother never hobbled and she lived to be 103. Plus Meg would be offended. :)

Have a good Wednesday, everyone! I'm going to hobble over to the freezer and get another ice pack. . .

Shannon in ATL 07-13-2010 10:27 AM

Well, this thread looks like it is turning into SSDD... Hehe. Jay, your post made me laugh this morning.

Bill - interesting link on Martha

Dagmar - another eww

Megan - I'm glad you had a nice weekend before your busy week!

Rabbit - your boys put up a good fight

Gary - glad our discussion flows so nicely with your 'collection' today :) Oddly, I do know that the process is much easier now, and don't want to think too much about that. Hehe.

Susan - going to check out your thread

Sheila - your grandmother lived to 103? How cool is that. Hope you feel better soon - be careful with the big dogs.

I had a good day yesterday, am hoping for another good day today. Got up to do two yoga podcasts this morning, sun is shining for the moment. Have to track down my lost in the mail car tag, that should be fun.

Good day all!

alinnell 07-13-2010 10:34 AM

You can't get a building permit here without proof that you've already arranged for a porta-potty. And that includes small remodel jobs where you could let the workers use the indoor facilities.

I had a whopper of a headache yesterday. it was probably from all the errands I had to do. This is why my car's computer thinks it's older than it really is (the computer tallies the number of times it is stopped and started up again): home to work, then bank, home again, contractors office, back to work. Another contractor, back to work. Bank again. Pet food store, lawyer, grocery store and finally home. I could have made a third visit to the bank but it was past the time when the deposit would have been made so it'll be done today. Oh, yeah, also a visit the post office. Poor car. I probably drove less than 30 miles, but that's what? 12 times I parked the car?

Have a great day everyone!
