Maintainers Chat: Week Of March 22 - 28

Tonight is my last night in New Mexico and DH and I fly home very early in the morning. So I thought I'd better start the thread tonight. :)

It's been a wonderful vacation with DD and her family! We spent the middle part of the trip traveling around northern NM, with no cell phone or Internet. It was stunningly beautiful and had the benefit of keeping DH out of contact with his office. :D

Yesterday was DD's baby shower, so much fun. All the little baby clothes and toys are totally adorable and I can see me getting into trouble as the doting grandma! I even got to practice baby holding with a friend's little two month old girl. It's kind of like riding a bike because I immediately started the Baby Rock without even thinking about it.

I'm dreading facing the scales but will do that as soon as we get home.Funny how much I've missed the gym and my usual healthy food!! I promised Megan that I'll be joining her in her Hard Core Month and I'll be at the gym and grocery store stocking up on healthy stuff first thing on Tuesday morning. I'm chasing you, Megan!

See ya when we're back in Pittsburgh!

Glad you posted early Meg!
I totally missed last week's chat with my insane schedule. I single-handedly operated the book fair and worked every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks. I am wiped.

Sounds like you had a great trip Meg!! I can't wait to be a grandma. Well, I can as I want my dd's to be happily married and much older!! My best friend is due in May and I can't wait to hold her little one when I go visit in late June.

Running around like a chicken with my head cut off still. Zero relaxing this weekend and tons more to do but I wanted to check in briefly. Good Monday to everyone else!!

What would we do without you Meg? Sit staring at our screens, waiting . Thanks for starting the threads while you were on vacation! Above and beyond the call etc. etc.

The only thing new here is that DH went to bed at 10 p.m. last night. For him that is a minor miracle. He usually stays up until well past midnight, eating all the while. I think he is really serious :carrot: this time about change.

I'm gonna have to get with the program too! My boot camp :drill: starts in two weeks and I want to go in there under 135 lbs. It can be 2 ounces under :p but I want to see that number!

Great Monday everyone!

Morning all,

My weekend was alright, basically trying to run around and get a lot of errands done Saturday and more relaxing Sunday. Friday it was beautiful outside so I worked on my garden and put the little tomato seedlings I've been nurturing into the ground. Maybe a mistake - it's been blowing like crazy for 24 hours and is supposed to keep blowing today, and I'm afraid my seedlings are toast. :( I also went to a baby shower this weekend for a coworker and there were tons of cute baby things. It make me even more excited for my sis. I went slightly overboard on the food, the first time I've really gone over my 1500 calorie limit. I must have eaten about 1000 calories worth of raw fruit, veggies, deviled eggs, and cashews, which put me in the "munchy" mood. I sat on my hands and tried to keep it light for dinner when I got home. Sort of glad we ended up not eating w/ BF's family in town, b/c we couldn't get ahold of them and it was getting late for dinner. Back OP Sunday, and I prepped lots of delicious, grain-free food for the week!

On my benchpress training session Saturday the trainer told me that since this year the tournament is of the "official" kind (I forget what word he used - confederated or something) we're required to wear SINGLETS. Whaaaat? I think he waited two months to tell me b/c he knew I'd flip out! I already feel extremely conspicuous and self-conscious competing on a stage, and really only do it b/c I like the training and I like my training partner, not the competition itself. I'm really hesitant now, but I've been training for so long I feel like I should keep at it.

Ok, Meg, come catch me! :running: Glad you had such a wonderful trip and baby shower! My mom also steals every baby she sees and immediately starts rocking them. It's a seamless transition from maternal to grandmother instinct.

Dagmar, ooh, a boot camp!

Michele, I hope you get to take a break soon.

Great job on the half marathon Sharon!!! I'm so impressed! :cp:

I hope everyone has a great week!

paperclippy 03-22-2010 09:48 AM

Shannon, belated congrats on the half marathon! :cheer: You did great!

Meg, I'm sure you will be back on the wagon in no time.

Hi Ward and Michele!

Dagmar, glad to hear DH is on track again.

Megan, what is a singlet? Is it like a leotard?

This weekend was gardening weekend. DH worked out in the yard from 7am until 9pm Saturday, with only a couple breaks for food. Our veggie patch is now twice as big as it was before, and the parts of our flower beds that were eroding are now re-filled. Sunday we did gardening too -- I bought two flats of pansies and one of violas to plant in our front yard. DH got his cauliflower, broccoli, leeks, and brussels sprouts seedlings planted out, and we planted seeds for peas, lettuce, beets, radishes, and carrots. Today it's pouring rain so hopefully the seeds won't all get washed away.

I got in some shopping Saturday too. While looking through the sale rack at White House/Black Market, I saw a cute black dress for $60. The first one I saw was a size 4, so I looked to see what other sizes they had, and found a 0 and two 00's. I was disappointed there was no 6, but I said, well, this dress is kind of stretchy fabric, let me just try on the 4 for kicks. It fit!!! :fr: I am now the proud owner of a size 4 dress. So unless sizes have inflated dramatically in the past two years, I can say with certainty that doing all that weight lifting has changed my body composition so that now I'm the same SIZE I was at 130, even though I weigh 138.

Similar but it's got shorts on the bottom - here is a picture. Very form fitting. I can wear a shirt under the top, but ugh. Somehow this is way different than wearing my form-fitting yoga-type pants to go to the gym. Maybe b/c it's a lot skimpier and overall form-fitting?

Congrats on the size 4 dress! I love WHBM clothes! Hot mama!

Good afternoon everyone. I am sitting at my desk eating a sandwich, enjoying my sore quads. Hurts a lot more going down the stairs than coming back up. One of my employees saw me holding the stair rails on the way down and was worried - I'm sure he was afraid I was going to fall. He stopped and stood at the bottom until I was all the way down. :dizzy:

DSS & his mom both have strep throat. She got her positive test yesterday, he got his today. We are isolating them at her house and have been running her groceries - ice cream, yogurt, lots of soft and cold foods. It will be hard for him - he has never had a serious sore throat in his memory. He was too young when he had hand foot and mouth to remember the blisters in his throat then...

Hey Meg! I'm glad you have had a good visit with DD and enjoyed the shower! DH & I babysat the eight month old daughter of one of his coworkers on Friday and I found myself doing the baby rock when we were putting her back down after a midnight snack, and I've never had kids. It must be genetically programmed. :) Have a safe journey home!

Michele - you have had a crazy busy week! I used to love the book fair as a child, but I know it must have been hard for the people who had to keep track. Hope this week settles down a little!

Dagmar - glad DH is staying on program! :)

Ward - A do-over week works. :) Good day for a fresh start. I wish the weather were better here today!

Megan - I hope your seedlings make it! And, I hate singlets. A lot of people were running in them at the half-marathon yesterday. I guess they are comfortable, but I don't know if I could get out in one. Though, everyone will be wearing one, so you probably won't get a lot of specific attention paid to yours. Good luck with that. :)

Jessica - love WHBM! :high: on the size 4 dress!

Allison - hope your workday is going well!

 to everyone else!

Signed up yesterday for the Peachtree Road Race... A 10k run through hilly downtown Atlanta on hot and humid July 4th... Woo hoo. :)

paperclippy 03-22-2010 04:32 PM

Megan, I don't know if I'd go out in that either, even though I have been out in public in bike shorts and a tight tank top which is basically the same thing!

Shannon, have fun on the July 4 run! DH and I signed up for the Race for the Cure 5k next month. We're also considering another 5k that's closer to home early next month.

In case anyone's curious here is the link to the dress I bought. It's hard to see from the website but it has ruffly sleeves and a bow and draping near the midsection, which is extremely concealing! I also got a cute pair of slingbacks at DSW. Much needed since I had no closed-toe black shoes.

Hi ladies! Happy Monday!

Crazy question: if you could replace your body with anyone elses - who would it be?

For me, it would be Torrie Wilson but without the fake boobs...

Marie 03-22-2010 04:39 PM

Shannon, congratulations on your incredible accomplishment. Your time was fabulous! And the numbers made me laugh. As you listed the actual numbers, I was calc-ing the percentages then I see you did in the next paragraph. I’m guessing you like numbers like I do.

Meg, how fun to be tech-less for a while. I’m glad your trip was great.

Megan, I had to google singlets and the images it pulled up were pretty cool. You’ll look fantastic as you mesmerize with the bench press. You can do it.

Jessica, I have pansy envy. I LOVE pansies. They tend to fry in my desert sun so I just admire them in the stores and when I go to the other side of the mountain where the flourish everywhere. Enjoy that new svelte size 4 dress!

I finally finished the quilt top yesterday. I draped it on my bed and it’s so pretty. I wish I could wave a wand over it and have the putting it together done!
Marie

Volleyball player Gabrielle Reese. Or that 41-year old woman who competed in swimming (?) in the Olympics.
