I haven't even begun to think about fall clothing shopping... but what a fun idea! =) I never pay much attention to what the fashion trends are, but I really like those "earthy" colors so it sounds like I'll be trendy this fall!

Talbots store and online is giving 40% off their sale prices. There are some amazing bargains! The best part is that a lot of the colors and styles aren't just for summer, so I'll be able to wear the things I got this fall and winter. :carrot:

DH and I are in New Mexico and I went to a Jones New York factory outlet in Santa Fe today. Everything was marked down, then everything on sale was another 40% off, then I had a 20% off coupon. Insanely cheap, it would have been a crime not to shop!

I got a gorgeous aqua linen summer jacket for $19.99, marked down from $219. I also got a bunch of fall things: sweaters, a skirt, and a silk blouse. Now the trick is to figure out how to get it all home. :dizzy:

There were lots of rich browns, purple, and teal for fall. It looks like skirts with tall boots are going to be a big look.

Has anyone been shopping? What do you think of the styles and colors? :)

Fashion changes, style is forever.

I just went and bought several pair of pants since none of mine fit anymore, at Goodwill! Got a pair of velveteen jeans and matching jacket, a pair of black with white pinstripe jeans, a pair of leather pants and a rose jacquard skirt... all in black of course. My hair is like 4 different colours, so I can only wear stuff that goes with it and I still love black best.

I haven't really checked out the mall or seen what is popular beyond Target which is having a worst of the '80's fest.

I'm thankful that I am finding SOME things in deep colors - last year I vowed to ditch my predominantly black wardrobe and had a tough time finding anything except black, gray, navy and brown. I'm liking the new colors.

I'm not thrilled with the abundance of plaid I'm seeing. And, I'm not buying capri leggings either. But, I love the skirt and boot trend - I'm DEFINITELY in the market for a great pair of boots!
I LOVE the sweaters out there - just not the prices. I dug out my knitting needles yesterday. I'm 1/4 of the way through a beautiful earthy green chunky cardigan :)

WOW! I'm so impressed by people who can knit and sew. I am left-handed and that presented huge problems for those trying to teach me home ec long ago. My grandmother tried to teach me knitting but she couldn't wrap her brain around the left-handed part and declared me as incompetent as my mom. Little did gramma know that mom just hated knitting, crocheting, etc. and pretended to be a fumble fingers.

I'm reverting back to the look I had in my 20's but with a great deal more sophistication.

My style model would be Anita Pallenberg (used to be girlfriend of various Rolling Stones members) when she was in the film "Performance" with Mick Jagger.

Just bought several curvy fit shirts in paisley (one purple, one grey) and one in a cream coloured lace. I normally don't wear anything so girly but this will fit with jeans and my skull belt nicely. And a black/paisley pullover with beading and burnout sleeves. Again worn with jeans.

Also two pairs of cords in deep green and indigo to go with exisiting sweaters. And I have a pair of chunky heeled brown bootie things that are super comy so far. I do refuse to wear the booties with the cut out toes - I don't do "dumb" impractical fashion.

Now all I need are some studded leather accents and I'm set! Also maybe some accessories from Betsey Johnson - she's got a kooky aesthetic that I really like.

Funny how losing 15 lbs. put me in a completely different mindset for how to present myself. I used to hide. Now I flaunt. I'm going to be insufferable :p (and very, very broke) when I get to my original goal weight!

Because of my coloring, I am a Fall girl--I really like rusts and browns on me. I also have noticed that I really like deep jewel tones on my skin.

Now I LOVE ME some exciting colors--crisp apple green and bubblegum pink, etc. But they don't look good with my coloring! :( Boo hoo.

One thing I am really into right now is anything Eastern looking. I also very much like my low-rise jeans that have a slight flare to them. I also like super thin and fitted pieces for my top--great layering a couple together.

Meg - my current favorite pair of pants is from Jones New York... they have an outlet near me, I have to go check it out!

Shannon, I love Jones pants because they're cut the right way for my shape. Lots of pants are too big in the waist for me, so I get that stupid gap in the back of the waistband. I love the Jones pants that have the 4" wide band around the slightly lowered waist and no pockets at all. They just fit me perfectly.

Just goes to show how little all the numbers really mean. I'm the same height and weight as you Meg, and I do wear "curvy fit" pants, but the one pair of Jones New York khakis I tried on did not fit me well at all. I do love their clothes though.

Pants are just crazy, Dagmar! They have to be THE hardest piece of clothing to get to fit well. And don't even get me started on jeans!

I love your description of your new style! I was one who used to hide and want to be invisible too. Now I love dressing up and looking my best every day. These days, clothes are a big motivation to stay on track -- and if I gain weight, I won't have anything that fits!

Dagmar - OOOH - sounds like an awesome look for fall for you! I need to add some cords to my wardrobe.

Which leads me to Meg's comment - I agree! Clothing is one of my great motivators as well. I have gotten rid of EVERYTHING that is too big. And these days, even a few lbs. makes a big difference in how my wardrobe fits.

Pants are the WORST to find for me. Regulars are too long, petites tend to be a bit short.
And fit? Even the same manufacturer/brand - I can wear one pair, but not another in the same size.

Jeans - DKNY seem to fit me like a glove. I LOVE them. I scour ebay for my size regularly for them!

Dress pants - Liz Claiborne and Van Heusen petites are fitting pretty well right now. Some Jones NY, but I have to be careful - only certain styles.

But, I still haven't found many colors - everything I have picked up in dress pants has been classic and boring. I'm going to have to rely on shirts, jackets, and vests for some pizazz this fall.

Has anyone seen any cute fitted vests? I found one at Dress Barn, but I haven't seen much that doesn't look like its for a tween or an old lady. I'm just looking for alternatives to a blazer/jacket for work.

I'm not seeing much that I like in the stores now. Which is probably a good thing, since I can't fit another ANYTHING into my closet or dresser! I have a Talbots birthday discount and style rewards card from Ann Taylor, and couldn't find anything I wanted :( There is too much green and orange out there for my taste!

Unfortunately, this hasn't stopped me :o
I just divide my clothes into even smaller "seasons" and store the rest in the closets upstairs. One of the few perks of being an "empty nester".

I rotate the current closet/drawer content every 6 weeks. I really AM a shameless clothes horse. So MANY good sales. So MANY cute clothes. So MANY FITTED items that look great. It is like I'm making up for lost time.

Somebody tell me that this wears off after a couple years - PLEASE!
