I didn't know my uterus helped me lift things! Are the ovaries in on the action too?

Turn off all the lights and close all the drapes and then you'll be a little more comfortable. Thankfully it doesn't last long.

Supervising.
I'm about to have dinner, and as long as I don't snack after dinner, I'll have a POP day under my belt....

I did an hour of strength training when I got home yesterday, then stayed up a little later than normal and ended up with an extra, poorly chosen, midnight snack. That on top of the high sodium dinner choice moved me 2 pounds from yesterday. Blah. But, my pants look great today so I'm not complaining!
Exercise:
Was planning a run after work followed by some at home yoga, but the weather forecast has changed to raining all day instead of rain in the morning and just clouds in the afternoon, so might have to change plans... contingency plan kickboxing and elliptical or bike followed by yoga at home. Have to get the treadmill together...
B: smoothie,
L: pb&j (early lunch, interviews all day)
S: kashi go lean
D: turkey sausage over rice, some kind of frozen veggie
S: skinny cow of some kind or another
S: cocoa or tea

I called my grandmother last night just because I was curious to see what she would say on this topic - she said "Shanny, girls have to be careful picking up heavy things until after they have all their babies. Lifting pulls things all different directions in there, and can mess up the girl stuff going on. Once you've had babies pick up anything you want." Then she laughed and said "not that I believe that, but your great grandmother used to tell me that all the time."

I used to live in Bulgaria, and was often told that if a woman sat on something made of concrete, it would freeze her ovaries. Walking around without slippers on the cold floors in the apartment would have the same effect. I lived alone, so was able to walk on my floors barefoot without repercussions. However, I'll never forget one day when I was sitting on a concrete ledge waiting for a friend. An old man accosted me & started lecturing me about frozen ovaries. I tried to play the 'stupid foreigner, I don't understand' routine. In frustration, he went to a newsstand & bought a paper, came back, placed his hands over my shoulders & lifted me to a standing position, carefully spread the newspaper over the concrete ledge, then took hold of my shoulders & lowered me back down.

I think these rumors get started from something with an actual medical basis that then gets twtwisted around by people who don't understand the reason for it. For example, in this case, I'd guess it started with really, really low body fat, muscular girls. Those girls wouldn't menstruate because of the low body fat, thus weren't able to get pregnant. Because there was no deeper medical understanding of very low bodyfat = not menstruating, the alternate explanation became "girls who lift heavy things can't get pregnant because it shifts things around".
I get fascinated trying to think how these things developed.

B - TJ's fat free Greek yogurt with honey, 1/2 packaged of strawberries
L - BBQ salad - greens, chopped red cabbage, carrot shreddies, a little roasted corn, grape tomatoes, red onions, grilled chicken with BBQ sauce, a tiny bit of fat free ranch dressing, crispy Sante Fe tortilla strips for crunch
S - tangelo
S - string cheese
D - home made beef stew with a whole wheat tortilla on the side
Well, I was good last night and did not have green tea with honey. Instead I had 90 calories of dark chocolate (!)

dark chocolate... MmmmMmmmmmmm! I just finished my daily allotment. so tastey!
Last night I did better with snacking after dinner, though I did still have a WW Ice cream bar after the girls went to bed. I tell myself no, then eat it anyway. But I only had one salt-water taffy and two or three altoids covered in dark chocolate (Mmmmm...) lol!
Today:
e: Some on-demand exercise TV thing, I can't remember the name, but it HURT! 30 min of intense cardio and toning. It hurt good though.
b: half a whole wheat raisin english muffin w/a turkey sausage patty (surprised, aren't ya?!) - oh, and coffee. I forget to put that down, but I have one cup before I work out and another while driving to work - both home brewed starbucks half-caff w/ a splash of 1% milk and 1.5 packs of Stevia.
s: did I have a morning snack? I forget... I think I forgot. Wow. weird. I don't forget food often.
l: Spinach salad w/chicken, slivered almonds, a little parm cheese, mandarin oranges, and Annies Rasberry Vinaigrette dressing
s: 1 peice of dark chocolate and 3-4 altoids (regular, if I brought the dark chocolate covered altoids to work I'd eat the entire package)
s: I'm sure I'll have another snack later this afternoon, pbly a 100 cal pack of something
d: Tuna caserole probably. I buy 4 - 5 "dinners" a week, then make whatever we're in the mood for each night. And when I say "we" I mean "me" b/c DH always just says "whatever you feel like making" and the girlies would have Mac&Cheese everyday if I asked what they wanted.
s: I'll try to resist, but...

well I must be sterile because I'm sure I've done a good job of "straining my feminine organs" working in a nursing home and veterinary hospital!
Reality so far today:
B = apple and coffee, followed by two chocolate chip cookies mid-morning instead of my luna bar
L = grilled cheese (bread and slice of cheese on the foreman), pickle spear, olive chips
S = FF yogurt cup
Planned for this evening:
D = pilaf w/ spinach and veg chicken pattie
S = probably another cookie... but i'll try to avoid whatever snack is brought to my meeting since I already ate cookies today!
E = heading out in a minute for my loop in the park (3.2 mi)
