Allison, the ones I'm getting the hybrid irons look like regular irons. We found the exact set I want brand new on the internet for $300.00 less than they cost at the pro-shop. So, we are ordering mine. Of course it probably won't save us any money cause now DH found a new driver and new flop wedge that he wants, LOL. His regular set of clubs are Ping's and he loves them, but I can't hit them very well.

Hi everyone -
I'm going to try to remember to respond to the things I missed in last week's thread... Sorry if I miss anything! :) Midwife - I'm going back to work on Wednesday. I could probably go back tomorrow, don't feel too bad, but I already planned the day so I'm going to take it. Bargoo - I'm glad your PET scan came back improved! That is good news. Michele - Must be odd finding out as adult that you only have one kidney. it is good that it hasn't caused you any trouble, though! Do you think your daughter has the same thing? Sheila - I snickered when I read your post about going to the bathroom - I finally went today after 6 days and felt a lot better myself... Lori - glad your kitty is feeling better! And, for this week - Dagmar - sorry you are still feeling bad. Your cold remedy sounds good! :) Meg - the parking lot at the gym by my office started to thin out last week, haven't seen it this week yet, but I figure inside is starting to thin back out, too! :) WardHog - 'lean and buff' rocks! Woohoo! Robin - I hear you on using the upcoming social events as motivation to maintain - DHs 20 year reunion is this summer and he graduated with my ex-husband... I'm using the red dress I have picked out for that as the picture to go along with the mantra to maintain through the summer and to get back in shape post surgery. Your perfect outfit to show off the new you at your parents party sounds like it will be great! :) Michele & Bargoo- I need to shop for pants myself - I bought several pairs back in October, but they are now too loose. Haven't lost weight since then but have definitely reshaped. Kerry - Hi there! How did your bike do in the fall? Allison - my brother just had some golf clubs custom made for him for Christmas - they measured him out and I think he got the pieces sent to him and assembled them himself to cut down on the price, maybe? Megan - glad you will have some down time now that the play is done! You always seemed to be on the go, it made me tired reading your schedule! :) Lily - I am a terrible golfer... My SIL is picking it up some now, she is looking for new cubs right now, too. Jay - Woo hoo! :carrot: Jessica -If Friday is the official day, then Friday is the official day! I say stick with it! :) I had my follow-up at the doctor today. He said I look exactly like he wants me to look for four days out. I'm still riding pretty high and a little swollen - he could push his thumb into the side of my breast and leave a thumbprint, but that has been getting better as the day goes on. I guess the implant won't settle down for several weeks, so it looks a little odd, but I'm getting used to it. I'm not very sore today, more pressure from doing more moving today than in the last four days. I did buy a new bra at Target today - the one the doctor's office gave me had a seam in it that was cutting into me and getting uncomfortable... I'm going to go get some water and go to bed know I think. I finally pooped so I feel better - (TMI - sorry! :) ) After two days of prunes, coffee and stool softener things finally move while I'm shopping at Target! :o Well, at least they finally moved, shouldn't complain about the where or whens... The doctor said it was the effect of all the Lortab. So, unless I'm miserable I'm going to be avoiding that from now on.... I was more uncomfortable from the bloating today than from the surgery itself I think! :( |
Shannon,
Glad you are recuperating so quickly! My friend that had it done was much slower to recuperate but she has zero pain tolerance and it was the first surgery she ever had. She literally thought she was going to die. It is weird that I have one kidney. My mom didn't find out she had one kidney until she was at least 50 and she had a kidney infection. She got seriously ill and they figured it out. My older dd only has one because we had it checked when we had other tests done on her. I don't know about my younger dd yet-- it's not really something they want to run a test to find out. She does have a physical tomorrow though-- I'm make sure she or dh ask the doctor about it-- he might be able to feel it or the lack thereof. |
Fired by email
This is gonna be a really weird week. My oldest clients just fired/laid me off via email, citing the recession as the reason. Long story but it's not the real reason, just a convenient excuse.
My past emotional reaction would have been panic about replacing the income and sadness at losing the dogs. Right now I just feel angry but I'm not going to say anything to my clients. I will feel sad at losing one of the dogs and what my client has planned for her sounds like a life of misery. I'm kind of relieved that I won't have to see this sweet dog suffering from her owner's craziness. My other past reaction to stuff like this was to run for the food/alcohol in the evening. I'm past that now. Just realized it this morning. Funny how some of the greatest moments of self-discovery come in the quietest ways. This being an adult stuff sucks at times. But there is a reward. Kinda like how fitting into the skinny jeans beats eating the cheesecake, yes? Dagmar :?: |
Dagmar~sorry you lost a client and doggy.
Lily~I guess this is the time to buy clubs! Two different golf stores here are having huge tent sales this weekend so DH and I will go look. I'm thinking of going to a regular golf course this weekend instead of our little par 3 course (which is free because we own a lot in the RV park). Of course a regular course costs $$$. Try $175 per person for a municipal course! Yikes. We may stick with free. My in-laws arrived safely in Idaho and now we're waiting for an update on how the grandparents are faring. Well wishes to everyone who is sick or in the process of healing! |
HI,
haven't been here in a long time. Hope someone still remembers me, if not i'll get reaquainted again. sorry to say, I stopped posting because my eating got out of controle and the 1-2 extra pounds quickly became more. I felt I needed to take controle first. I know that is not good, it helps to come and post. I guess i felt guilty. I was doing so well, at goal, and i screwed up!!! Well, i'm still not down to goal but at least i'm in controle now. And feeling guilty is just defeating. Dagmar, Sorry you lost the job and the dog. We get attached and that's a good thing. Shannon, I'm glad to hear that you are doing well. Pain meds are VERY constipating. They should tell people that right away. Mitchell, having one kidney is rare but you've shown, not unhead of. For three generations to have it? Lily, I'm sure you'll enjoy those new clubs. You sound like a little kid at Christmas! so excited! HI everyone else. Look forward to talking to you again. Freda |
Shannon, I'm glad you are recuperating nicely. I badly want to have this surgery done too. Still have plans for it in June.
Allison, I'm lucky on the cost of playing golf. Our membership is only $50.00 per month and that includes both me and DH and it's a full 18 hole course. DH plays on Sundays though at many various courses with his friends and it costs usually costs him $100.00 (that with the cost of beer included). Oh, DH likes to play at one Par 3 course. I don't. I like to be able to use my Driver (it's my favorite club, LOL). Freda, glad you came back to post. I'm on track with eating and exercise now too, but I'm still 6 lbs. over my goal. Staying here helps me keep from adding even more unwanted lbs. Mudpie, sorry about the being fired (especially via e-mail) and I know you'll miss that dog. We had an ice storm come through last night and lost our electricity all night. It's back on now and I'm very grateful for our fireplace. I slept curled up on the loveseat with Molly (my huge lab) and the girls slept on the couch and in the recliner. Middle of the night and our cat caught a mouse. This set Lucy (the younger lab) off into a roaring, barking, running fit! I'm tired today cause I feel like I was up almost all night. I'm trying not to get depressed today. Tomorrow is my son's 23rd birthday and he is still in Iraq. I did send him a birthday box, but it's just not the same. |
Ah Freda, welcome back. Times when you're struggling is when you should be here - most people in our "real" lives don't understand. :)
Shannon - good to hear you're on the mend. Not much going on here except work. Sigh - always too much of that! My DH is about 2/3 finished with carpeting my sewing/crafts room and I should be able to start moving stuff back this weekend. Since most of it is in boxes in my office, I'll regain that as well. Right now there's just room for me to walk to the computer. Can't even open the drawers of the file cabinet. We also sat down last night and picked some tentative dates for a trip to New England to see our families. I think we're going to overlap. He'll go and then I'll come about a week later and we'll spend a week or so there together (at his brother's - our closest relatives or rather the ones we're closest to :) ) and then he'll come home and I'll spend another week with some friends and my sister. That way we'll only need a house/cat sitter for a week. I'm working with airline miles to see how much we can get for free, so that makes the dates a little vague til I commit to the tickets. Nice to plan a trip though. DH is going to Death Valley the first part of Feb, but I'm here until this New England trip. |
Hi everyone,
Lily, laughing about the mouse in the middle of the night during the power outage. Thank goodness you have that fireplace! Sorry you're so down about Shane's bday. Maybe you can celebrate and make him a cake etc. when he gets home, a "do over" of the holidays he missed. Freda, ditto what everyone's already said - we're here for you whether you're at goal or have regained a bit. That's when I think it's most important to have support to nip a regain in the bud! (Obviously if you look at my ticker I'm a prime example...) Glad you're back. Dagmar, sorry you have to say goodbye to one of your dogs. What wise words - yes, skinny jeans are better than cheesecake. I need to chant this to myself at certain moments. Shannon, glad you're recuperating on schedule. How is having Mom around? Keep us posted on your recovery. Pat, I hope you get your room finished soon. I had a great cardio workout at the gym yesterday, ran 4.5 miles + walked 4.5 miles. Today I'm going for full body weights and then elliptical. I'm trying to shock myself enough to get food back on track as I'm still eating too much. Garrr carb cravings! I will defeat them! Have a great day everyone. |

Pat, those are reasonable prices. I forgot to mention that cart rental is an extra $20 for 18 holes. That sounds like a really nice trip you are planning. DH wants to go on a cruise, but I said I want my new boobs first, LOL.
Megan, we do plan to have a big celebration for Shane when he comes home. I think him being gone on his Bday bothers me more than it does him. He's just concentrating on getting finished over there and that is all that really matters to him right now. The girls were out of school today due to the ice storm. Right now there is lots more sleet and freezing rain coming down. DH went and bought Shelbey a little truck today. It's bright yellow in color and fits her perfectly . (it's a used Ford Edge). She hasn't quit hugging us all evening! |
Hi maintainers,
Just a fly by post to tell you all that I am still hanging in here. Just too busy to respond to all your posts, but I really really like to read them. It is very reassuring that I am not the only one in th world trying to eat better and stay fit. In my opinion I have 10+ punds to loose, but people around me always say that I'm fine. Sure, but my BMI is borderline overweigt, theis is straight overweigt, and I just do not want the health risks involved. Bargoo ..failed to congratulate you on your test reslults befor! Glad the scan came out right Shannon- congrats on your operation! Kery - good to see you back posting Lily - hi!. Glad that shane is coming home in the near future Freda - I've gained again too...all the more reason not to slip further and stay posting here. Hi to all the other maintainers, Rabbit |
Freda, if maintainers was reserved only for people who never regained a few or slipped up with their food, it would be totally empty.
Well, Meg would be here by herself, maybe! |
Ha! I'm so far from perfect it isn't even funny. Count me in with those who slip up and gain a few. Maintenance is one big rollercoaster for me. :dizzy:

Well, we got a call at 4:42 AM (?) that MIL's father passed away. I really don't know why she couldn't wait an hour or so to call. Anyway, it was for the best and at least she got to see him before he died. Funny thing, when I told DS he asked what grandpa had caught--like old age isn't enough on it's own! DH will go up to Idaho for the funeral. I don't particularly want to go and DH is fine with that, but I'm not sure how the in-laws will feel.
In other news, my weight is finally moving downward! Half a pound yesterday and today. Hopefully this trend will continue. I'll go Saturday to a big golf sale and hopefully get my new clubs there. I was hoping DH would go with me, but it might be that he'll be out of town. I'm too excited to buy them, so I may have to do it on my own. Everyone have a great day! |
