Okay, so eating yesterday turned crappy too. Three mini hersheys bars at work. Then after my spanish class the instructor unexpectedly took us out to a mexican restaurant, where I ate way too many tortilla chips. Oh, and I couldn't do my run because of class and because it had rained in the morning.

This morning I was lazy and didn't get out of bed to run. It is on my "must do" list for tonight though. Tonight I'm making my thanksgiving traditional dessert, grasshopper pie (it's frozen so it will be fine until thursday). My goal is to avoid the BLT's. I might also prep my yams if I feel up to it. I'm kind of regretting buying fresh yams - I had so much trouble with prepping them last year that I should have just bought a can. Oh well.

Tomorrow we're leaving after work to go out to the country for thanksgiving. I am really hoping that MIL won't cook too much unhealthy stuff during the weekend after the main dinner. I think I'll volunteer to cook a few times and bring my muesli so I can avoid her breakfasts.

We had a bit of a disaster yesterday afternoon when I found bugs in my whole wheat pastry flour! Eeeeeeeeeew! Luckily they hadn't gotten into anything else. It was pretty gross though, I made DH throw it away.

fiberlover 11-25-2008 05:31 PM

Jessica - we got bugs in our cornstarch, ewwww! Luckily we keep our flour in plastic containers. Who knew that they would get into cornstarch?

I was totally OP yesterday. So far so good, if I can get through the evening with the planned snack.

Tomorrow I do a bit of cooking for Tday, and I need to try to stop nibbling. It's my very favorite cornbread stuffing (Alton Brown recipe), and I could eat the whole thing myself!

I have snow tires!

How exciting eh? I feel totally suburban now. I didn't even own a car until I was 40. DH bought a snowblower last week. Next we'll be getting matching recliners (don't hurt me, pleeze!!). Sorry, I've always just been a very urban apartment dweller so this stuff is all a little new to me.

And this does actually relate to eating (how will she segue into this you ask :?:). I had to go pick up my car and then get some groceries for tomorrow night, in case my DH's sister, nephew and BIL show up.

I was sooo tired :faint: and so tempted  to get some cookies, chocolate, etc. to prop me up for a bit. I got a package of breakfast muesli bun thingees (I have a certain way with words, yes?) instead. 200 calories for one, instead of a gazillion :p for the other things I was eyeing.

So I snacked on one and now had my healthy dinner and I'm done for the night.

Thingies is a very useful word. I use it often, LOL. Along with doohickey and whatchmacallit.

2 day tough love cut back worked! Now to maintain that loss

Morning all! I should be studying but I wanted to give you and update on my weight loss after two days of tough love cutting back on food (my program says to eat 6 oz of chicken, 1/2 a cantaloupe and as many non starchy vegs as you want each of the two days).

Last Sunday, I told you that I was going to do my weight loss program's tough love "diet" which I hate (and that's too soft a word even). I did it on Monday and Tuesday. Today is my first day back to "normal" eating--well somewhat normal eating. The two days were wildly successful--I'm down 7.6 lbs this morning.

Now, for the next hard step--I have to maintain that weight loss. I have to stay away from eating out and away from beef at least through the weekend if at all possible. This could be tough especially because I hope to eat out on Friday when I do crazy shopping and watch all the other shoppers out there having fun on Black Friday. Tuesday was a rough day. I started to teach and got light headed--felt like I could pass out. Drank some water and felt like I'd be ok and was. That's never happened before, but neither has an over 7 lb weight loss. I'm going to work hard to keep it off now.

Have a good day and if I don't get back here before Thanksgiving, have a fabulous, blessed day. I'll be counting all of you and your support in my blessings. Make good choices! I'll be thinking of what you all would say with each item I choose--it's bound to go well with that thought :)

Happy Turkey Day!

:thanks1: to all of you Americans

Good Morning,

It's really cold here and that always makes me want something warm. So, it's oatmeal, soup and stews. I have a hard time with salads in the winter time. The weight has started to creap up a bit. I have to get back to planning. If I miss just a few weeks of planning I start to regain. I usually can just "watch" but after awhile I get out of controle. So it's back to planning.

Hi Bobbi, Glad to see you here on Maintenance. You have done so well losing the weight. Once you decide to do something it gets done quickly!! Like me, you tried it on your own and found it doesn't work too well. We need our friends to keep us on tract! It's too hard to lose to regain it back. And besides, I LIKE the clothes I have now, and the way I look now!!! NO going back!

I sneak snacks into the movies all the time. I don't feel bad about it, because they have no healthy stuff there! I have also been know to take my own salad dressing to a restaurant where I know they have a poor selection, or no, low calorie dressing.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have to work tomorrow, 12 hours, so our celebration is on Saturday. DH and DS and DGS are going to a football game. DGS's first professional game, so that will be fun for him and fun for the others seeing his excitement. Wish I could be there for that.

Hi everyone, just dropping by to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. We had our family Thanksgiving dinners last Saturday and Sunday. I did great with the eating on Sunday, but felt like a pig on Saturday. Now back on plan with my WW meals.

I've had my 1 yr. old grandson, Patrick, since Saturday. He's a real joy and a bundle of energy. He goes home this evening and I did my best to spoil him while he was here. I took him to the mall and had Santa pic's made with him, So Cute! I bought him new jammies, new jeans, new toys while I had him, lol.

DH bought a new truck yesterday. It's shiny and red and brand new. I'm a tad jealous, lol.

My son has been shopping on the internet for Christmas presents for our family. Everyday a new package arrives and I don't have any idea which package is for which person. They all just say from Shane, to Shane. So, should make for an interesting Christmas, lol.

alinnell 11-26-2008 12:03 PM

What a bummer. DH went to pick up the treadmill yesterday and while loading it on the truck, realized he needed to move something in the bed of the truck and left it half hoisted onto the truck and turned his attention away and the treadmill rolled off the truck and fell. Okay, so only the back end technically fell, but that's a 3 foot fall. It apparently jarred something internally so the treadmill won't start. DS called customer service yesterday (a VERY nice guy helped him out) and they determined a connection must have been severed. DS tried to figure it out but couldn't see any broken connection so now they have to send out a technician to fix it in the next few days. Thankfully being brand new it is under warranty. DH might take a look at it this weekend if the tech doesn't call.

Oh, but the good news? According to the website, the MSRP on this treadmill is $4700 (not the $3600 we thought). And we got it for $1000! This is the one we got:

Meanwhile, DH and I are still using the NordicTrak (but I so wanted to use the treadmill this morning).

Looks like a nice treadmill!
Too bad you can't use it right away but thank goodness it is under warranty!!

Megan1982 11-26-2008 01:49 PM

Hi all,

My first Thanksgiving yesterday went pretty well, if I do say so myself. Reasonable portions, avoided the desserts, ate mostly white turkey meat and veggies and allowed myself a small serving of my friend's really good homemade mac & cheese as my indulgence. Everyone else was talking about how their stomachs hurt while I was full and satisfied, but in no pain. It was a good feeling. I followed it up by skipping afternoon snacks and a long workout, stayed at 1900 calories for the day.

Of course I also found out that I have not one but two family dinners to attend w/ BF - Thursday and Saturday - which is one more than I anticipated. I just need to do what I did yesterday two more times. We leave early tomorrow morning and get home Sunday.

"You know...the thing!" is a phrase that passes through my lips all too often, lol.

Allison, it's great that your treadmill is under warranty!

Dagmar, great job having a healthy snack and being satisfied at that! :carrot:

Have a very happy Thanksgiving everyone! And for those not celebrating, have a wonderful few days!

Sheila53 11-26-2008 02:20 PM

That looks like a nice treadmill! Thank goodness it was under warranty.

Sounds like you had a fun time with your little grandson, Lily. It's so much fun to spoil them.

Goal, great job on the "tough love" weight loss.

So I had a strange experience yesterday. I was doing my shelter volunteering, and we stopped for lunch. A couple of the people started talking about fat people, the fattest place in the U.S., how fat people have fat kids, fat people's grocery carts, etc., etc. These are people who knew me 100 lbs. heavier so all I could think was what the heck were they saying behind my back? I pointed out that the fattest area was also the poorest area of the U.S., and said a few other things. It made me rather sad. No wonder I used to put the ice cream at the bottom of the cart and pile veggies on top of it. People really do look at the grocery carts of fat people. All I know is that my opinion of one of the people has dropped considerably--the other person I have a low opinion of anyway. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all you U.S. maintainers! Make it a safe and healthy one.

Meg 11-27-2008 06:15 AM

Happy Thanksgiving, gang! :thanks2: I'm thankful for all of you and your constant support and encouragement. You all are the rock of maintenance (and you rock!! :carrot:)

I'm up early to bake one more pie and get some tidying up done before anyone else is awake. Then the fun begins! My plan for the day is to eat a small amount of anything I want, but remembering that I can't eat nearly as much as I used to be able to, so I need to pace myself. It will be one meal and back to reality (and calorie counting) tomorrow.

If I can find the time, I'll hop on the bike and burn off some calories in advance. Otherwise, I'll hit the gym at 5:30 am tomorrow when everyone else is hitting the mall. Who is crazier?

Have a wonderful day! :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

After a day POP, I'm back to my comfortable maintenance range. Yippee!! I am so thankful for all of you guys who show me what it takes to maintain.

I'm off to the grocery store. Today will be our Turkey Trot, eating brunch out with the family and then cooking for tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow. We're having our Thanksgiving Friday....so I have no excuse to make crazy choices today.

Enjoy the holiday and your families, all!
