Great job everyone! :carrot:

i got 4.5 miles in today on the treadmill then just .5 with Angie as she walked the dogs home from the vet. My brother and I had a little side job, we caught her before she got home.

Breakfast was Total and OJ again ~ Lunch was homemade soup and turky sandwich...again ~ no snack ~ on 2nd beer ~ I am cooking tonight...whole wheat pasta ~ spinach marinara ~ salad and sourdough bread....I will be easy on the bread!

No snacking last night after dinner :carrot:

MEGAN...KASHI PIZZA?....give that poor guy a break! ;)

Lydia227 05-01-2008 09:09 PM

Wow everyone is doing so well! :yay: I was really hungry this morning an hour after breakfast. Since I was home I was going a little stir crazy and was close to making some really bad choices. I decided to move my mid morning snack up and eat that instead. Wise choice considering the alternatives. By the time lunch came I wasn't hungry and decided to skip it until the next meal time. Overall it seemed that my eating was just moved up an hour or two and then skewed the rest of the day but the choices were okay.

B Oatmeal/cottage cheese/protein powder
S Smoothie mixed with cottage cheese and frozen banana, slice of whole wheat toast
L skipped
S Cottage cheese/yogurt/blueberries/sliced almonds
D LF Turkey sausage with red peppers, berries, oranges, grapes

mandalinn82 05-02-2008 02:05 AM

Today was on plan and I'm off to bed!

Plan, plan, plan for tomorrow, in the meanwhile.

B - Pizza Bagel (alternative bagel, pizza sauce, part skim mozzarella)
S - Apple
L - Leftovers - grilled lemon-thyme chicken, roasted veggie couscous, salad
S - Ry-Krisp Sesame Crackers w/ Laughing Cow
S - Popcorn
D - London Broil, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts
S - NSA Vanilla Ice Cream and Strawberries

E - 55 min elliptical

BlueToBlue 05-02-2008 02:58 AM

WaterRat: The multigrain cereal is a hot cereal; it's pretty close to oatmeal except that it has barley and rye in it too. I stir 1 tbsp non-fat cream cheese into it and it makes the cereal nice and creamy. It's really yummy, second only to stirring peanut butter into the cereal (and the cream cheese adds only 15 calories, whereas the PB adds 80 calories). I wasn't sure if you figured out that it was hot cereal or if you thought I was somehow eating cold cereal with cream cheese (which, I'm sure if I could think of a way to do that, I would consider it). Cream cheese is also really good stirred into oat bran.

Robin: You're welcome for the recipe! I had the salad again tonight; it was fabulous. I suspect cabbage won't be around at the farmers market for much longer, so I've got to eat it now, while it's available.

Today was pretty much on plan, but I did have a few extra ginger cookies at the end of the day. It's okay though, they're pretty low calorie and I've got room for a few extra calories right now.

Here is how my day shaped up:

B: FF plain yogurt with High Fiber Cereal and raspberries
S: High Fiber Cereal and decaf coffee with FF half and half and SF Torani
L: Pork and Tofu stir fry, pickles and pickled mushrooms, four sesame coated walnut pieces
S: Oat bran with FF cream cheese and SF Torani
S: Yogurt chickpea salad, Fiber One muffin with FF cream cheese, small apricot
D: Chinese cabbage salad with tofu and chicken
S: Pumpkin pudding with ginger cookies (and a few extra cookies), tea with FF half and half and SF Torani

Exercise: 20 minutes of intervals with 3 min warm up and 10 min walking cool down, 1 hour circuit training class

Meg 05-02-2008 04:49 AM

Lydia, when I'm really hungry, I'll do what you did -- move up a planned meal or sometimes even combine two into one. It's so much better than trying to white-knuckle it for two or three hours! Then often I can slide right through to the next scheduled meal, like you did. I've learned that I have to avoid that starving feeling at all costs or else I make very bad choices. :p

Yesterday was great food-wise but I didn't do any intentional exercise. I'm debating whether this counts as an excuse or not, but my toe was bleeding whenever I walked on it and my doctor told me not to exercise if it bled. Excuse or legit reason?

Regardless, I'm definitely headed out to the gym this morning!

Robin, we can't wait to hear about your plans for the weekend. :)

rockinrobin 05-02-2008 06:41 AM

Hi ya'll. (I think I would have been a good southerner. Maybe)

Barbara, I'm shocked to hear that you don't have cabbage all year round.

Meg, LEGITIMATE REASON. Ya hear. Give thyself a break.

Anyway, yesterday was day 4 for me. Great food wise & great exercise wise. Woohoo!!!! Feels good.

Today I have an early day at work. I'm leaving shortly, so I don't have much time to post. I'll post my weekend menus later.

I have no social plans as of yet, that's what messes me up. All right no excuses. But really, many times it's last minute that my friends will popover (AFTER I've eaten my entire calorie allotment) and we wind up going out to eat. Either to a fancy, shmancy place or a diner. Horrible choices there. Even at the diner, for goodness sakes. BUT, this is a NO EXCUSES week and no matter what is thrown at me, I'll handle it. I am completely determined and commited. I want to see my goal weight again. I am looking to lose this week, not maintain. So therefore there will be no spluges whatsoever. Period.

Keep up the great work oh dear teammates. I'll check in - but much, much later.

Mel 05-02-2008 07:28 AM

Meg- Blood all over is not good gym etiquette! That is not an excuse, but sound judgment. You and I have to learn to take the advice that we'd give to out clients ;) or ex-clients. Kudos on keeping the food clean.

Lydia- I do the same thing. Starving=stupidity around food for me.

Yesterday was great. I had a surprise dentist appointment at noon so I couldn't lift (duh- if I looked a week ahead in my appointment book, it wouldn't have been a surprise), but I did a good back and chest workout when I got home.

Food was on, the peanut butter is buried deep in my fridge so I don't see it.

My new goal is pure vanity- to fit into a dress in 7 weeks that is obscenely tight right now :dizzy: Hahaha...how trite! My previous goals were all health or fitness related. I feel like posting "how can I lose 10 pounds in 6 days?" Cut off an arm! Unfortunately it's inches I need to lose, not necessarily pounds and my arms fit into it just fine.

Another day!

Mel

friendlykat4u 05-02-2008 08:19 AM

I want to apologize to all of you, I didn't keep my promise of working out 3 days. :( I guess I should've known better than make promises I can't keep.

I'm not even going to try to justify it. If I had wanted it bad enough I could've found the time to work out, but I didn't, and I'm sorry. :(

I've been OP for 5 days now. I've been tempted with a lot of food lately, but I'm sticking to my plan.

Congrats to everyone for doing a great job! :)

Gary, he is 32 years old. If he wants pizza, HE CAN GO GET SOME HIMSELF. If he depends on me to feed him, he gets whatever I put on the table. And he'd better not complain (for the record, he doesn't, he says thank you). :p

DB pullovers
Seated cable rows
Bent over BB rows (underhand)

Meg 05-02-2008 08:42 AM

Robin, may I suggest that you become a little more assertive about your needs? Could you say to your friends: how about if we stay here instead? And maybe you could have a veggie tray or bowl of fresh fruit as a backup? Could you talk to DH and explain how these spontaneous extra meals throw you completely off-track? He's seen you lose all this weight and I know that he has to be proud and want to support you, right? So don't be shy about letting him know that you need help! I know we all want to be Super Heroes, be tough, and do it all on our own, but sometimes we can't. If you tell everyone that this is important to you and you need their help, I bet you'll get it. :)

EZMONEY 05-02-2008 09:52 AM

Just a quick check in before I head out on a walk with the dogs ~ off work today.

Wanted to post my 1 pound loss :carrot:...down to a solid 177.0! instead of that high 178.

Plus I am pretty sure I just lost another 1/2 pound from being :yikes: YELLED AT :yikes: by MEGAN! :stars:

Megan1982 05-02-2008 10:29 AM

Oh, Gary, I wasn't yelling! Merely pointing out facts. :p

But if it really helps you lose weight, I could yell for real.

Great job on the 1 lb. loss!

alinnell 05-02-2008 11:49 AM

I did pretty good yesterday--I didn't get in a full hour of walking as prescribed, but 40-50 minutes. Food was really good, in fact I was so full most of the day I didn't have my afternoon snack (not that a few carrots would have done me in!). Weight is down 1/2 a pound.

EofAZ 05-02-2008 11:57 AM

I did get my resistance training done yesterday after I got home from work, I kept repeating out loud in the kitchen while I got some veggie soup going, “I can’t let myself sit down, I have to get my workout done.” My husband chuckled and understood my motivation. I think he would rather see me chanting to myself then beating myself up when I don’t follow through. It worked and I completed my resistance training but from now on that is going to be my morning workout because I worked as hard as I could and can feel the muscles this morning but think it could have been a better workout if I wasn’t already feeling tired.

I’ve been spot on with my eating, traded my apple and string cheese last night for 2 more ounces of the roasted elk, it came out so good so I’m pleased as can be.

Now for no excuses, as of yesterday we decided to make a quick trip to California over the weekend. DH’s son is an over the road trucker and he is going to be in CA for a few days, just 30 miles from DH’s daughter. So we are going to go visit and have a little family reunion type day at a Lake. It should be great fun. Sooooo, this morning I jumped out of bed, packed for the trip while chanting “How can I fit in my exercise today” so I could come to work early and justify cutting out a little early. DH has a suv so when we travel we typically rent a smaller vehicle for the trip so during lunch I’m going to pick up the car and walk to the airport to get it, if I take the long way it will give me a 2 mile walk. Soooo, there you have it, I may not get the whole 3 miles I typically would strive for but I’ll also not have just skipped. My plan was for just cardio today so I’ll be on plan and still be able to hit the road right after work and if I walk back from the airport on Monday I’ll actually end up a little ahead of the game.

Food, I’m packing it. The hotel has a refrig & microwave so when we go out to eat I’ll stick to salads, fruits & veggies, etc. at restaurants and supplement my meals with what I’ve packed. With us being at a lake all day Saturday it will be a snap to get in plenty of walking for exercise and I’ll schedule my resistance training for M/W/F next week.

Now, I’m very good at sticking to my plans when I’m on a trip like this, I plan things out and follow my plan. I ALWAYS fall down when I get back and the “event” is over with, it is like my guard slips to far down so fortunately for me to make 7 days with no excuses I will need to keep going until Wednesday thank goodness.

I may not get to check back in until Monday but now that I've documented my plans it will just be a matter of thumbs up when I get back.

Have a good weekend everyone.

BlueToBlue 05-02-2008 01:25 PM

Robin: I'm sure I could get cabbage year round at the grocery store, but I try to buy all my produce at the farmers' market. Cabbage must be a winter crop because I wasn't able to find it at the market last summer. The cabbage sold at my grocery store during the summer must be coming from very far away, probably another country. I feel very strongly about buying as much locally grown produce as possible; not only is the produce noticeably fresher and tastier, I really believe that it is important to support the local economy and independent farmers. I'm blessed with some great farmers' markets and I feel that it is important to support them. I end up making a few exceptions, but I really try to keep them to a minimum. So that means no cabbage over the summer (unless last summer was just a fluke).

That is so true! The other day I was going out for dinner for friends and had forgotten to mention it to my SO before I did the weekly grocery run. Normally I make dinner for the two of us, but when I go out he has to fend for himself. When I mentioned it to him (at least 24 hours in advance), for a minute there he got a little snippy, asking what he was going to eat. This from a man who is over 40, has a car and a driver's license, knows where the grocery store and our favorite take-out restaurants are (never mind that our cupboards and fridge are plenty well-stocked--there's plenty of food to eat around here), and lived on his own and successfully fed himself for several years. I said I didn't know what he would eat but that he is an adult and I was sure he was capable of figuring out something, even on short notice.

WaterRat 05-02-2008 04:25 PM

Oh gosh, I hear that all the time - what will I eat?? Um, there's always cereal or soup! When I decided years ago that I was not going to be responsible for packing DH's lunch (and having him complain about what was in it!) he sulked for a week. Now if I offer to make him a lunch he's very grateful!

Barbara, cabbage is a cool weather veggies, and it doesn't surprise me at all that it isn't grown in a CA summer. We grow it in the summer, but it's nowhere near as hot here. And thanks for explaining on the cream cheese - I may have to try that.

Evangeline - what a great plan! I may find myself chanting more....

Yesterday was spot on. On to today.

B - 1.5 scrambled eggs, 1/2 kiwi, few strawberries (what was left), 1/4 cup yogurt, toast with whipped cream cheese, :coffee:
S - latte
L - rueben on toast (vs. grilled), fruit cup (I always have Fri lunch out with my girlfriends, so this is a "planned" meal)
S - cottage cheese with berries
D - leftover chicken stirfry, brown rice
S - we're going to a Cinco de Mayo party - I'm bringing cut fruit! Note to self: salsa may be a good option, chips are not! :)

rockinrobin 05-02-2008 04:27 PM

Barbara, I understand completely. Thanks for clearing it up. That makes a lot more sense to me now.

Meg, your point is well taken and I thank you for mentioning it and I will most definitely keep it in mind. One time I actually DID insist that we stay here in my home and I served a bunch of salads and stuff and lo and behold - it was a big hit.

Would you believe that there are times we wound up going out at 11:30 at night? How crazy is that? I've got it planned that IF we do wind up going out, no plans as of yet, I don't give a darn. Depending on the time, I will have a diet soda and some cantalope (if we go to a diner). If we go to a "fancier" restaurant - I'm screwed. Just kidding, well not really, but I'll come up with something. I am not willing to ruin my "NO EXCUSES" week. Which by the way, I would like to repeat again NEXT week. I hope you're all up for it. I have found this VERY beneficial.

All right, today is almost in the books, well not quite. The day so far as been super. The rest of the day looks like this:

-Cucumber, tomato, red onion salad
-Roasted chicken breast with roasted string beans, asparagus, brussel sprouts, onions and fresh chopped garlic.
-SF Jello with fresh sliced strawberries and fresh pineapple

Saturday:

-FF/SF yogurt with Fiber One Cereal
-sliced gala apple
-Roasted chicken breast (left over from Friday), veggie platter (grape tomatoes, baby carrots, mini peppers, raw string beans with salsa. Cabbage salad
-Morning Star Farms Chick Pattie with lots and I do mean lots, of cauliflower and carrots cooked in a bit of chicken consomme
-cucumber salad
-FF/SF yogurt with Fiber One Cereal
-sliced gala apple
-cabbage salad
-SF jello
-leaving a little wiggle room for unexpected plans.

I'll post Sunday's menu Sunday morning.

Forge ahead troops. Forge ahead. It's all good. :smug:

traveling michele 05-02-2008 04:35 PM

I knew today would be my challenge day and it has already been!
Once a month we have birthday lunches for all of my co-workers and today it is make your own sundaes with all the toppings! I managed to stay away!
But the rest of the day may be more of a challenge. I have a school event tonight with lots of bad food choices (we are having a carnival with food booths!). I will eat a snack before I go and hope I can avoid the booths or at the worst, make a good choice.
Tonight is also the night I can't fit in the gym and I've come to grips with that. I can have a day off and not feel TOO guilty.
I was excited to get on the scale this morning though-- I was almost 136-- I was 137.2 so it is close.
I hope I don't mess it up this weekend-- the family wants a Cinco De Mayo meal-- we'll see how that one goes!!

Mexican is one of the easiest meals to stay on plan with and still satisfy your family's desires. Everyone can do their own thing. You could do fajitas or tacos--everyone gets the same meat (could be chicken, lean ground beef, lean ground turkey, or even fish). I make my meat with onions and bell peppers and fajita seasoning. Or Trader Joe's sells Pollo Asada, which is pre-seasoned chicken and only 120 calories per 4-oz serving. We just had it last week and it was excellent (I still added fresh onions and peppers). It is in the fresh meat area.

Then you just make a variety of toppings and everyone picks their own. You stick with the low cal stuff, like salsa, cilantro, lettuce, nonfat sour cream (or I just use NF Greek yogurt), and maybe a little guacamole (it is good for you) and they can have the higher calorie stuff like cheese. You can have a salad on the side and they can have tortilla chips. Or you could serve FF refried beans. You could get corn tortillas or low carb tortillas for yourself and regular flour tortillas for your family. Or you can just have your meat and toppings over lettuce (a taco salad) and they can have tortillas. Or I sometime have my meat and toppings over polenta (you can get it pre-cooked in tubes), which is only 85 calories per serving.

I also have a recipe for Tamale Pie that comes in at 265 calories per serving, and the servings are very generous. I'm guessing that tacos or fajitas are the way to go for Cinco de Mayo, but if you want the Tamale Pie recipe, let me know.

mandalinn82 05-02-2008 05:29 PM

Barbara - Tamale Pie Please!!!

I'm up for doing this next week. Only problem is, there will be at least 3-4 situations where I have no control over my food (business meetings where you can't bring your own in, and one dinner at a coworker's house). I can make a plan to "do my best", but that seems awfully loose, especially considering I have to go to a reduced/modified exercise plan during that week due to time constraints.

Still, I can commit to doing SOME rules, and I will stick to those, no excuses.

EZMONEY 05-02-2008 06:07 PM

Hi Gals ~ I had the day off so I took the dogs to the duck pond and trails for a little over 3 miles, then jumped on the treadmill for another 3.5 when I got home.

I didn't eat breakfast before I went and due to running into an old friend at the pond and doing the treadmill, I was ready for lunch which was the same 'ol turkey sandwich on wheat and the last of the (not-frozen) homemade soup. Tonight we meet my son and his wife for her birthday at a new Italian restaraunt that they like...Angie and I already know we will split the meal....you already know this if you checked out my FRIDAY NIGHT SPLITS thread :)

BARBARA ~ Speaking of Mexican food and adding the onions and peppers to things...Costco has a carnitas pack in the refridgerated section by the meat...we throw that in the microwave for 4 minutes as we saute some onions and peppers, throw those in the carnitas and a real quick tasty meal...I am sure the calories are not that good...but...if you like quick and easy carnitas I recommend it.

See you all tomorrow ~ HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!

EZMONEY 05-02-2008 06:09 PM

MEGAN...he better make YOU dinner from time to time! ;)

and yours too BARB!

Meg 05-02-2008 06:18 PM

I'm totally up for next week too. This "no excuses" week took off spontaneously last weekend and it's turned out to be the best thing for my maintenance in a long time. :) I feel totally back in the food groove and it feels SOOO good! :broc: It's like once I get past the first three days, I'm back on track. But there's always been something about that third day that gets me.

I've strayed from my planned menu today but it will all end up fine, calorie-wise. I've been helping DS move into his own apartment all afternoon and didn't have a chance to eat what was planned, so I ended up gnawing on the stump of a protein bar in my purse. When I got home, I was craving protein in the worst way so made an omelet loaded with veggies and a little cheese and lean ham. So it will end up as another good day. :D

Great planning, Robin! I know you can do it and I can't wait to log on tomorrow morning and read all about your success.

Barbara, I'm seconding the request for your Tamale Pie recipe. :T

Yes!! It's been a great maintenance "tactic", so to speak. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped myself from a little nibble here and a little nibble there (all healthy & low cal, but nevertheless) directly because of this here very thread.

And yes, I too feel totally back in my groove and it feels MARVELOUS. Heavy Duty RELIEF. 3 days. All it takes. Don't want to sound too cocky just yet though. Cautious optimisim.

Mandalinn, it DOES sound like you've got quite the challenging week ahead of you. But you have proven time and time again that you are up for the challenge!! I still haven't forgotten how you managed when you were out of commission there for awhile.

Barbara, I'm thirding the request for your Tamale Pie recipe. :T

mandalinn82 05-02-2008 07:39 PM

OK, I'm mulling over commitments that I CAN make, regardless of my challenges. It's a lot better than "Do my best", and gives me solid goals to be accountable for that still will let me get through.

1. Go to the grocery store on the first day. Get breakfast stuff. Eat breakfast every day before meetings start, so I can avoid pastries/etc that are brought in. Morning eating at the meeting to be restricted to coffee, as well as fruit if it is provided.

2. On same grocery store visit, get healthy, portable snacks. Keep in my bag or work fridge at all times, and eat in favor of less-healthy snacks, cookies, etc. served at the meeting.

3. When I eat out, which I know I will have to, order lean protein and veggie-based dishes, avoid starches. Limit to 1 glass of wine, and only if it would be socially awkward from a business meeting perspective not to.

4. When I can't control what I'm eating (catered in business lunches and at least one dinner), take mostly veggies and fruit if provided. Take small portions of things that are higher calorie, and rely on snacks I'll have with me if still hungry.

5. At least 30 minutes of physical activity every day (except Monday, when I'll be flying). I'm bringing exercise wear, my resistance bands, and my headphones. My in-laws live in the Hollywood Hills, so cardio will be hill-walking. I'll do strength training at least 1 day. In addition, I will do 20 minutes of yoga before bed at least 1 night (in addition to the 30 min in the morning), with a goal of 2-3 nights.

6. Keep water intake at least 4 L per day.

There's my no excuses commitment for next week.

Devandra 05-02-2008 07:55 PM

AMANDA...You will be just fine Kiddo!...Hugs...and have a wonderful business week!

WaterRat 05-02-2008 08:42 PM

Amanda, great plan! And keeping it to one glass of wine isn't as hard for me when I look at the cost of it in a restaurant! :) I'm assuming that your work doesn't reimburse for alcohol; mine doesn't.

BlueToBlue 05-02-2008 08:51 PM

Honestly, I don't want my SO to make dinner for me. I prefer in control the food that I eat. It's not that I can't trust him (when he cooks, he's very exact about ingredients), but his specialties tend to be a little higher in calories than mine. He's on his own for breakfast and lunch; I don't mind letting him share whatever I make for my dinner.

Gary: If the calories aren't good on the carnitas, they are off the table for me. I can't see any reason for the food I make myself to not fit within my calorie limit, even the quick and easy stuff. That just seems crazy . I have lots of great, quick and easy options that are also low calorie. Plus, whenever I cook, I always make enough for two nights, so there's usually always leftovers in the fridge if we want quick and easy.

mandalinn82: Those sound like reasonable rules. That's how I try to attack business conferences, etc. Just make the best choices I can given the circumstances and do at least 30 min of exercise per day. I also allow myself unlimited fruit and decaf coffee (whereas when I'm home, even that stuff is strictly rationed) in exchange for sticking to my rules.

The other thing I do is pack all my meals and snacks for the flight out. If I don't have to eat dinner with colleagues or friends when I arrive, I'll back both lunch and dinner (usually sandwiches since they are the easiest thing to pack), plus snacks. So that's one more day that I am fully on plan. Last time I traveled, I had to check my suitcase because I was packing so much food I needed an extra carry-on for it. :D

Here's the Tamale Pie recipe:

Tamale Pie
  • 1 lb 95% lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced red pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 8 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup frozen corn (or 1/2 can cream-style corn) (I've allotted 150 calories for this ingredient which according to my notes is 6 oz of the frozen corn I get from Trader Joe's. Depending on the corn product you are using, you might need to adjust the quantity of corn you are adding accordingly.)
  • 1-2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tube pre-cooked polenta
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat cheese (I've alotted 70 calories per ounce for this ingredient--if your cheese is 80 calories per ounce, which is common for reduced-fat cheese, the end result will be around 370 calories per serving.)

Brown the ground beef in a medium-sized skillet with the onion, red pepper, and garlic. Drain fat if necessary. Add tomato sauce, salsa, corn, cumin, and chili powder. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until most of the liquid is cooked out.

In the meantime, thinly slice the polenta. You want to get about 36 slices out of it. If you have a wire cheese slicer, it works really well for this task.

Coat a 8 or 9-in square casserole dish (with 3-in high sides) with cooking spray. Spoon in 1/4th of the meat mixture and top with 1/3 of the polenta. Continue layering until you used all of the polenta and meat (finish with the meat mixture, so you'll have four layers of meat and 3 layers of polenta).

Cover and bake at 350 for 35 or 40 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle with cheese and pop back in the oven until the cheese is melted.

Makes six generous servings at 265 calories each. Seriously, the first time I made it, we divided it into only four servings and neither my SO or I could finish our portions (and I tend to eat large portions). In addition to giving a really tamale feel, the polenta really bulks it up. I suspect that this would also be good with 99% lean ground turkey, which would drop the calories to 245 per serving (not that the calories really need to be any lower, it's hard to beat 265 calories for a meal).

I fly out Monday morning - I'll pack something for breakfast day of and then the rules begin. I'm hoping I can get to the store on the way in, before our meetings start...all depends on the lovely LA traffic.

My company DOES reimburse alcohol, and its a drinking-favorable business culture (to say the least!) so it does become an issue pretty easily.

Barbara- That looks good! I've never had it, and may try it.

Another good day in the bag. Calories came in at just under 1350 and I'm full from my last snack of yogurt and strawberries. Ratios were real close to where I want them at 46P/28C/26F (and most of that from salmon and olive oil). 45 minutes of cardio this morning and half and hour of arm and core workout.

Next week I will commit through Tuesday. Wednesday we drive all day and I'll pack food, but once I get to Columbus, I'll be lucky to see a gym once and food will be "best choices" with one or two real treat meals  Sunday, we drive again. Then back POP!

Ugh...well, arrived at my work conference yesterday afternoon and I have been offplan dinner, breakfast and lunch. I'm so weird, I still stick to my "absolute no's" no chips no pastries, for example, but I have a lot of wiggle room with stuff like bagels with date cream cheese and dark chocolate covered nut clusters.

I guess it's just one bad day and I am trying to recommit for tomorrow. I'm ordering a seared ahi salad from room service for dinner. I can do this! Only 6 more days. :\

mandalinn82 05-03-2008 01:55 AM

Glory - good luck for tomorrow!

My plan for tomorrow -

B - Alternative bagel w/ laughing cow
S - Greek yogurt w/ strawberries
L - Leftovers - London broil, sweet potato spears, brussels sprouts
S - Ry-Krisp crackers, laughing cow
S - Popcorn
D - Pork tenderloin stirfry over brown and wild rice
S - NSA Vanilla Ice Cream, strawberries

E - I plan to run 5 miles - might be a bit short, since my knee is a little tentative tonight. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

WaterRat 05-03-2008 01:57 AM

Glory, you can do it!! Take it one meal at a time. Don't break all the dishes. :)

Barbara - I'm  over the tamale pie here at 10 pm - I'm not even hungry!! Thanks.

I made it through today completely on plan. I did swap out my leftover chicken stir fry for leftover chili, as there was only enough chicken for one of us and DH prefers it to the chili. No sweat as the calories are close enough. Had exactly NOTHING to eat at the party. :D Drank lots of water, danced and visited. On to the weekend.

Tonight got a little out of hand. =/

Tomorrow's a new day though. And at least I got a work out in.

Gotta hang in there...

Hope you're all doing well

Well, I was hungry all day today but still managed to come pretty much on plan. I think the extra ginger cookies yesterday screwed with my blood sugar because it was that shakey sort of hunger.

Here's how the day worked out:
B: FF plain Greek yogurt with High Fiber Cereal and raspberries
S: Decaf coffee with FF half and half and SF Torani
L: Pork and tofu stir fry, pickles, pickled mushrooms
S: egg beater omelet with Alouette lite spreadable cheese and spinach
S: Oat bran with NF cream cheese and SF Torani
S: La Tortilla Factory wrap, spicy ranchero egg white salad, spinach, Fiber One muffin, FF cream cheese, small apricot
S: Fiber One cereal
D: Light pasta in a sauce of FF cream cheese, Alouette lite garlic and herb spreadable cheese, and lemon juice, mixed with spinach, chard, and scallions, and topped with broiled apricots and smoked salmon; green salad with low cal dressing
S: pumpkin pudding with ginger cookies

Exercise: 1 hour with trainer

The whole day came in at about 1650 calories.

Glory: Cream cheese with dates and dark chocolate nut clusters would be pretty hard to resist! At least you stuck to your "absolute no's"; that's something.

just popping in... haven't read all the posts since my last visit...

yesterday wasn't perfectly OP, went over my points but had saved ones in my 'bank', didn't exercise. Not feeling it at the moment either, but hanging in there...

Glory, will be thinking of you. Hang tough.

Velveteen, today is a new day and it sounds as if the old one wasn't so bad really.

Barbara, pumpking pudding with ginger cookies? That sounds really good.

nineteen, yes dear, DO hang in there. Today most certainly IS a new day.

Yesterday turned out excellent for me. I was a bit concerned. Friday night is one on the rare nights I'm actually home at a normal hour and the family all eats dinner together. I make the same thing every single Friday night. Roasted chicken. I make it in a black enamel covered pan with tons of spices and onions and I cook it to death and it is the tastiest, moistest thing you can imagine. It just falls right off the bone. Well, I make a whole chicken and lots of thighs. I am the only one who eats the breast. I eat one 1/2 Friday night and the other on Saturday. No problem there. No overeating. BUT, and it's a biggie, lately, Friday night after Friday night I've been shoving upwards of 2 EXTRA, UNPLANNED for thighs in my mouth. But not last night!!! It felt great.

Still haven't been on the scale. Boy do I miss that. But I can absolutely see a difference.

I do have a challenge this morning that I completely forgot about. One of my very good friends is making a buffet brunch today at about 11:30. She is a splendid cook and I know she will have a H U G E spread out there. Great foods, salads, fruits and incredible desserts. *sigh* Well, it's something I only have to stay a 1/2 hour or so for. Hmmm.... what to do? what to do? Well, I don't want to give up my planned lunch, the 1/2 chicken breast. I think I will just have me some diet soda or seltzer and a few pieces of fruit. Not even sure if I should have ANY fruit as that may get me out of control mode. We shall see. I will report back later.

Have a great on plan/no excuses day everyone.
