Chocolate
Throughout my days of losing weight and now at maintenance, I've eaten chocolate most days, but in moderation. Each evening as a part of my nighttime relaxation ritual, I have some tea with one of the following:
1-2 squares dark chocolate (my favorite brand is Endangered Species). I buy the bags of individually wrapped squares, each 50 calories. I don't buy the whole bar version because it would be too tempting to eat through the whole thing in one setting. Slim-A-Bear Ice Cream Sandwich, No Sugar Added, 100 calories No-Sugar Added Fudgsicle, 40 calories Nonni Biscotti (all the flavors are good), 110 calories Chocolate or Cinnamon Teddy Grahams (portion out into individual sandwich bags) Slow-Churned Ice Cream (90-120 calories per half-cup) I've heard Vita-Tops Double Chocolate Muffins are good (I think about 100 calories), but I haven't had them, so can't say for sure. I guess I'd say for me the key is to buy individually-wrapped items and to not completely deny myself (this tends to cause cravings/binges). Also, having these with tea prolongs the experience, so even though I'm eating a small amount, the taste lasts awhile. I find I am satisfied when I'm done and don't feel the need to return for more. When I'm really craving sweets, I know the dark chocolate squares will be the best to eat because they tend to curb the cravings the best. If you're really having a craving for chocolate/sweets, I'd suggest slowly eating one square, letting each bite melt in your mouth, and then when you're done, wait about 10-15 minutes to see if the craving is gone. |
I adore the following cookies:
1 sleeve of Fiber one cereal 1 bag of semisweet chocolate chips a teaspoon vanilla Melt the chocolate and vanilla in pot. When melted, stir in the cereal until it's well coated. Drop small spoonfuls onto wax paper and let the cookies cool in the fridge. The recipe I got it from said the cookies were one point apiece. I adore chocolate, and only one cookie fills the craving. |
To goalsuccess, I mailed the chocolate angel food cake recipe to you directly, (I think and hope, if not, let me know, I'm new to that feature here) but if anyone else wants it, speak up and I'll put it here!
To the world, I tried the chocolate oatmeal dish and I LOVE IT. Instead of sugar substitute, I had some of that coffee syrup stuff, sugar free chocolate, and I tried that. I like its taste better than Splenda, just personally. It works too. Thanks! |
NSA fudgesicles are yummy, but they don't always satisfy and I want more. I like to eat a square of dark chocolate too. Trader Joe's has 100-calorie dark chocolate bars, yum. Sometimes I melt the dark chocolate and dip strawberries, or dip apricots in the chocolate and then into chopped pistachios and let cool. This can make a little chocolate go a long way!
I also like NSA hot chocolate, and I like to make bean brownies. They are chocolatey, and because of the fiber and protein also very filling. I experimented with 100 calories worth of peanut M&Ms, since they are fairly low glycemic because of the peanuts, but they were too easy to overdo.:( Hope you don't mind me barging in on the maintainers thread, but I can't resist a chocolate post anywhere. As you can see, I have spent lots of time thinking about it. |
I love dark chocolate too it satisfies my craving...
I also like the cocoa in oatmeal I've done that and it helps the craving... I add cocoa to a whey protein shake and that nips the craving in the bud too... |
