While we're on the topic of pictures... this guy at work took some pics of me on his motorcycle. I think it looks like it should be MINE, don't you?

motorcyclesm2.jpg motorcyclesm.jpg motorcyclesmile.jpg

Awwww Megan, Meg, Allison, baffled, 4rabbit, and Lisa... thank you for the congrats... and Megan, you are right about plans of action... they make everything better, regardless of what you are trying to accomplish, because if you have a to-do list and a detailed plan, you are less likely to fail since you have mapped it all out.

Rant any time about your roommate! She just does not understand. A lean life is not as easy for some as it is for others, and she probably thinks you're practically "cured" from your overweight life and doesn't understand why you are still so health-conscious when you are now fit, in shape, and far from fat.

baffled - feel better! This is the season of colds, for sure!

Lisa, that's an adorable pic of you and your husband. You are both very attractive.

Meg - all those adjectives are going to make my head blow up like the lady in that commercial... I'm not sure if it was Benadryl, Alka Seltzer plus Cold Medicine, or WHAT, but I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about... right? The lady blows her nose several times until her head expands, then she takes that medicine and it shrinks back to normal size? I swear, I start to get a sinus headache every time I see that commercial But thank you, I could give all those adjectives to you as well, plus sweet and very knowledgable (seriously, you're, like, a fitness guru to me )

Hi everyone,

Sheila your pics are great and you do look much younger.

Shane, WTG on the job situation, I bet you'll get your pick of which one you want most. More money is always a good thing.

Last night my son told me "you shouldn't be lifting weights mom, it will just make you get bigger, you should just do cardio". I really didn't know what to say. My goal is to firm and tone my body not get down to size 00. Basically I wanted to say I didn't ask your advice to lose over 90 lbs., so you just worry about your own body.

Lily, oh no, your son has that common, untrue belief that lifting weights will make you bulk up and gain weight instantly. A lot of women actually avoid weights initially because they're afraid it will make them look like bodybuilders.

I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut if I were you!

Shane -- Congrats on the job(s)! Two opportunities instead of one, and one that is already secured? Well that sounds pretty great. (And great pics as well.)

Megan -- Hah. Isn't that so aggravating. And when people tell you "I couldn't do that", as if your food was a pile of crap, when in fact it's healthy and delicious, filled with veggies, proteins and foods that are certainly not bland/disgusting. But I guess our society has gone down the drain a long time ago regarding that...

Lilybelle -- He should go and tell that to all the men sweating and grunting in the weights room, in their efforts to gain on muscle. I'm sure they will really like hearing about how a woman will "pile it on and becoming huge" just like that when they can't.

LOL, too funny!

Shane, you look good on that bike!

Baffled, it's about once a month that a comment like that comes out of my roommate's mouth. The rest of the time we get along well enough (friends but not best friends). I have lived in this 3 br, 3 bath house for almost 3 years, and I really like it - right across the street form the beach. I had (still have) one roommate, and our rent got raised and we don't make much money, so we decided a 3rd roommate would be a good idea... Anyway, my name's on the lease, so if it ever comes to someone needing to leave it won't be me!

Lol, that's what I thought too. He's pumping iron constantly and drinking tons of yucky protein and creatine stuff and doesn't look like he's gaining weight. Just gotta love it though when someone that has never had an ounce of fat on their body tries to tell me how to lose weight or firm my body.

I had the city come out and set me up one of those huge metal trash dumpsters at the end of my driveway. Now, to just make myself start the overhaul of the house and remodeling projects. Today it is so cold that even walking the dogs seemed very hard.

DH said this morning that he might want to go to the gym with me tonite for the first time. Now he's changed the story to "it depends if there is anything good on TV to watch instead". My bet is he'll keep his happy butt glued to the recliner!

Shane, great pic's ,it does look like the motorcycle should be yours.

I just went to the Dollar Store for some cleaning supplies (which I need to use) and the cashier told me "you look so teriffic, how much weight have you lost?" It sure feels good on the rare occasion now when someone mentions it after me being on maintenance for a while the compliments are fewer and farther between.

Shane - congrats on the jobs!!

Megan - from what you said, it sounds like your roommate is jealous.

People with colds - I hope you feel better soon!

Everyone else - Hi! This thread is moving too fast for me to catch up!

Work is really busy right now. I do software development, and we are having a usability test next week, so right now it's nonstop testing and bug fixing. I thought I was getting sent down to Miami for the test but it turns out they didn't want me to go after all. That's ok with me because at least I won't have to worry about eating at restaurants!!

Who was it who was talking about America's Next Top Model? I used to watch that show religiously -- I think I've seen all of seasons 3 and 4 and most of 1 and 2, plus a few sprinkled episodes after that. It seems like each season they get more *****y girls and Tyra gets wackier and it's just not as good as it used to be. I do watch The Tyra Show while I'm on the elliptical at the gym though!

Our gym membership expires in the middle of next month. I was planning on renewing it but I'm worried about it considering that we are planning to get a dog in a few months. It's not that I think if I have a dog I won't want to go to the gym, it's more that when we go to the gym, we go right after work, so we leave the house at 8am and come back at 7pm. I'm a little concerned about leaving a dog alone for so long! If we don't go to the gym we get home at 5:30 or so. What do you think?

Jessica~at least at the first I'm sure your dog would appreciate you coming home earlier. You could walk him/her when you get home, too, so it wouldn't be like you weren't getting at least some exercise (heck, all I do is walk or run with my dogs). I sometimes feel a tad bit guilty when I have to leave the poor beasts alone longer than usual, but they seem to get over it! We've had days where we leave at 7:30, pop home for 5 minutes (long enough to feed them) and then leave again until close to midnight. I know they sleep most of the time we're gone, and you'd think they wouldn't want to go to bed when we get home, but they don't care. They sleep all night after having been sleeping all day. Oh, what a life it would be!!

Aidyn - congrats on the job offer, good luck on the other one. Maybe you can get them into a bidding war over you, but saying "This one offered me X, what can you do?" to get the job you really want at the salary you want.

Whew, my weight's down to just a pound over ticker, so only two to get back to goal. Monday's shock of 5 lbs over goal is still on my mind. Trying to eat good choices and only when I'm hungry. Tonight's dinner is Ahi Tuna, Rice Pilaf, and salad.

DH is laying in a vinyl stone tile floor in the kitchen today. Now that his collarbone is healed enough (it will be another 10 months before it's completely done - if he doesn't do anything stupid again) he's been doing home improvement projects like crazy.

The snow has finally caught up to us here in South Jersey. It's coming down as big, wet flakes and is actually sticking. But it won't last for long. Tomorrow it will be back to the upper 40's.

Afternoon all.

Shane, congrats on one job for sure! And great pics! The cycle should be yours

Sheila - nice to put a face with posts! You certainly have changed, and you look sooo happy in the Maui photo.

Baffled - I much prefer the owl to the nose!

I spent the whole morning in meetings mostly about personnel issues. Ick, ick, ick. And of course, I came out with yet more work to do..... And tonight I have a church council meeting (I'm the VP, so at least I don't have a lot to do outside of the meetings ) that will go one at least an hour longer than it should.... Oh well, tomorrow's Friday, and I get the first check with my new pay raise!

Sheila, you look fabulous!

Megan, you are very patient.

Hello everybody!

I'm tired today. My series of long meeting are over and I have tomorrow off. Not quite a snow day, but hey.

Zzzzzzzzzzz.........

Oh, yeah, baff, miss the nose...

I didn't make it to the gym tonite for my UBWO and cardio. I started feeling nauseous and took a 2 hr. nap late this evening. After dinner I felt a little better and forced myself to walk 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I'm hoping that tomorrow I will feel fine and make it to the gym.

Feel better, Lily! There's an amazing amount of sickness going around. I still can't shake my cold or whatever, which has now turned into a cough. Sleeping didn't work out so well last night. I may break down and hit the NyQuil tonight.

Carolyn, believe it or not, the kitty cardiologist is very busy (she takes care of dogs too). The next closest animal heart specialist is in Columbus, Ohio at OSU, a three hour drive away. The good news is that despite lung disease caused by an old heartworm infection and massive congenital heart defects, our kitty is doing very well. She's taking two people medicines now - for blood clots and a diuretic - and we're adding a beta blocker. I always feel silly going to my pharmacy to pick up prescriptions for "Aurora" and hope that no one thinks that I would name my child that!

I'm ridiculously excited because we got 13 brand new ellipticals at my gym. The old ones were ancient Precors and these are the latest model, with HR monitors in the handles and everything! The footbed seems a lot shorter and they feel more inclined on "10" (which is supposed to be level) but I'm sure I'll get used to them. They're as smooth as silk!

But -- the calories burned are way different! We talk a lot in the Exercise forum about how the calories burned on the machines are way, way off and this is the perfect example. I did my usual workout on the new Precor and it said that I burned 110 fewer calories than the old machines would say. Same person, same workout, same brand of machine. So obviously they've changed the formula that determines calories burned per minute. It's STILL too high, according to my HR monitor, but at least it's a little more in line with reality. Interesting!

It's going to be a snowy, very cold weekend here. Got to visit my MIL on Saturday and I plan to hibernate on Sunday. What's everyone got planned?

Meg- I had the same depressing numbers when I got my new elliptical. The calories burned calculation is probably a lot more accurate on my new, very expensive Life Fitness elliptical, but I'm still disappointed every morning that I can't burn off the 400 calories that my cranky old Nordic Track thought I was using

Lily- I hope you ignore your son!

Carolyn- Our snow melted already. The schoold even stared on time!

Everyone!
