I had to get a few of my new pants shortened and I wound up giving most of my larger clothes to the woman who does my alterations so that felt good.
Her daughter is fairly big and can wear them.
My daughters said they would take my too large cashmere sweaters for cosying at home.
I remember last fall I got a really nice lined fall jacket at Marshalls in medium. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to zip it up in the coming months and took it back for a LARGE!!!!!!
Now I take a petite Small at Talbots.
My Talbot bills are pretty high together with my new Gap leather jacket, but I used to never spend much on clothes for me ( the sweaters were secondhand on ebay) so I am letting myself enjoy the wonderful pleasure of getting lovely SMALL clothes.
My husband's son's girl friend will probably take the jackets and the rest will go to the salvation army or a local survival house.
I am totally committed to staying at my current weight and with my weight lifting/ cardio program get even smaller in size. However if I stay a 6 ( after being a 14) I will be more than happy. I did save a few larger jeans for painting the walls of our house but that's it!!!
I am excited that soon I will be at my 7 month maintenance.
It is also just a week or so to go since I started losing weight a year ago.
Really it is a MIRACLE --and when it is hard to get out of bed in the morning I remind myself what a privilege exercise is, and how wonderful to see all my new muscle definition.

Save one fat pair of pants, for that classic picture of you in one leg of them, lol. Save an outfit for work, or for a period or fat day.
Toss the rest, toss, toss, toss!!! (Donate)
That is the healthy thing to do (in my opinion)
Storage/Pack ratting = emotional stress and baggage.
I want to lose weight like everyone else, but it felt great to donate my skinny clothes, because they were nice, and they will benefit someone, and that made me feel like a great person.

I say store if you are planning another pregnancy. Even if you do very well weight wise there will be growth on the way back up and the way back down that it really SUCKS to buy clothes for or be in maternity wear. Otherwise get rid of pronto.

I am very firmly in line with Meg on this one-------- get rid!

If it isn't there then there aren't "fat" pants that I can just easily pull out to wear if I let myself gain 5lbs because then the gain would be easy.
Because I don't have that wiggle room (literally), if I were to gain 5+lbs I would have to go shopping for a bigger size which would eat up time and money and would be embarrassing and angering for me. So hopefully I would think twice about doing any gaining!

There is no room for going back!! :)

I sold or gave away everything that was too big. Even my gym clothes. It felt so good to see all the 20s-14s out of my closets. I have plenty of closet space, but I was more concerned about my head space.

Feeling good

Hi all:

One thing I have learned is I need to feel good about myself no matter what size I am--the old games of wearing any old thing because I am not thin enough to buy a wardrobe is a cop out.

I say tailor or get rid like most. I figure if I gain weight, going to the store, seeing myself in the mirror, paying out money for new clothes will make me confront my current choice to gain weight. Instead of zoning out and trying to hide.

And having some new clothes always makes me feel better and will inspire me to lose again--its a win win!

My vote goes with getting rid of them!

In my quest to figure out maintenance I freak out if anything starts to feel tight and get right back on track. So, for me, not having "fat" clothes around is a motivator.
