Oh, my Glory - buffets! I need to run screaming when I see one. It's the ultimate test of my self-control.....

Self control was tested and I didn't do too well. But, I'm not going to beat myself up too much, the important thing is getting back on track immediately. So far, today is as good day!

paperclippy 08-07-2007 09:26 AM

Glory, how's the post-buffet eating going?

Monday:
B - multigrain cheerios (135) w/blueberries (8) and skim milk (85)
S - plum (30)
L - tortilla pie (423)
S - banana (105), peach (60), OJ (15)
D - 1.5 ears corn (125), 4-5 small golden potatoes, steamed (180), 4 cooking light zucchini muffins (600) :o

Total: 1766
Exercise: none, I didn't want to go the gym since I had a rash on my face

I am so confused about the calories in potatoes. The calorie count websites tell me there are 100 calories in one small red potato, and 220 in a large baked potato. I ate 4-5 small new potatoes, which by their count would be 400 calories, but based on the size, the potatoes I ate would only make up about half of a regular large baked potato, so how could they be more calories?

Oy vey, here I am, here I am. I went to the gym yesterday and did a good weightlifting session. I definitely need to diversify my weightlifting. I do the same old routine 1-2x a week. I think I need to split it up and add more lower body and core, and do it several days a week in addition to cardio. I found a bunch of ab exercises in Self mag yesterday at the gym.

Food for today:
B - Fiber one (60), sk milk (90), sm banana (95), coffee w/ 1 T h&H (30)
L - Turkey on wh wheat (160), carrots & celery (70), spinach & feta dip (120)
S - Light yogurt (100), pineapple & kiwi (115)
D - ??? perhaps WW recipe chicken cacciatore if I'm eating alone, or lean steak and salad if eating w/ bf

My problem this week has been baked goods at the office (thank goodness none are here today to test me) and nighttime snacking. Maybe more snacking urges b/c it's TOM? I'm going to focus on not eating when not hungry...

Hi ladies, mind if I join in? I stepped on the scale this morning and my wt. is back up. I was holding steady at 143-145 lbs. But, this morning, I was shocked to see 148 again on the darn scale. I feel fat and bloated. I feel like I definitely have "muffin top" going on today.

Last night we had tacos for dinner and I skipped the beans and rice. I wonder if those shells were salty? My hands and feet are swollen pretty bad. I didn't measure my cheese, so I'm sure I ate more than I should have.

My exercise has been pretty nil lately. I haven't been outside for my walks, but I have worked some in my garden.

I've been so busy with writing my book, that I've spent way too much time with my butt planted in this chair. I'm now logging every bite in Fitday again. (I had skipped logging it for several days). I guess I thought I was getting away with something, but alas it caught up with me.

Todays plan: walk on treadmill (it's too hot and humid to walk outside)
drink my water
eat on plan, maximum of 1500 calories
log every single bite

BF: a banana and a cup of coffee

paperclippy 08-09-2007 11:57 AM

Lily, taco shells definitely have a lot of salt in them. Did you put taco seasoning on your meat too? Taco seasoning is also packed with salt, and cheese can be salty too.

WaterRat 08-09-2007 03:08 PM

Well, having gone back to WW to give me some real life support (in addition to you guys - who are great! :) ) has proved to be a good thing. I'm down 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks! Yay! :carrot: I still have a ways to go, so I still need the accountability.

B - cheerios w/1% milk, 1/2 ww (whole wheat in this case) eng muffin w/1 TBSP PB
S - FF latte, 1/2 banana
L - large salad: lettuce, tomato, 1/4 avocado, 1/2 cup refried beans, dressing of ff sour cream/salsa, ww tortilla
S - peach, turkey slices (not together  )
D - salmon, broccoli, some sort of starch

Meg 08-09-2007 03:19 PM

Congratulations, Pat! :high: I know you've had a lot of success with WW in the past, so this sounds like a great move. :)

paperclippy 08-10-2007 08:51 AM

Great job Pat!!

Thursday:
B - multigrain cheerios (135) w/blueberries (8) and skim milk (85)

L - tuna noodle casserole (389)
S - plum (30), 1/2 C chai milkshake :o (175?), apple (105)
D - pasta (300) w/meat sauce: < 1/4 lb extra lean ground beef (130?), pasta sauce (80), 1/4 C frozen green beans (30), 1/4 C frozen peas (30), 4 grape tomatoes (10), some fresh basil (5), 2 Tbsp parmesan cheese (44)
S - milk (40), OJ (30), multigrain cheerios (60)

paperclippy 08-10-2007 08:51 AM

Today's official weigh-in at home - 132. Too bad, it was 131 yesterday, I want to count that one!

Megan1982 08-10-2007 10:36 AM

Hi all,

Ran 3 good miles (and walked 3 for warm-up & cool-down) at the gym yesterday. It felt good, that's what I need to make sure I do as cardio 3x a week. My chest is really sore from my chest flies on Wednesday, too - obviously haven't been working those muscles enough!

I ate...fewer snacks last night. Agh, it was slightly better, but not great by any means. I had lean steak and a big salad for dinner, but I also had chocolate animal crackers, 2 slices of bread with "Move Over Butter", and a few crackers that I didn't need. Today:

B - Kashi To Good Friends, skim milk, coffee w/ h&h
S - small banana
L - turkey on whole wheat with hummus and alfalfa sprouts, carrots & celery
S - ff yogurt or string cheese, mango
post-gym/pre-sushi/girls night S - ff yogurt or string cheese, kiwi
D - girls night sushi night at my friend's house
My challenge for dinner: Try to eat off a plate, keep an actual count of how much sushi I put in my mouth. I'll try to keep rolling as much as I can to keep my hands busy.

Pat, congrats! That's great news.

Lily, like Jessica said, taco shells (anything tortilla, really - chips too), cheese, and taco seasoning have a lot of salt. Anytime I eat Mexican - even just a handful of tortilla chips - I retain water like there's no tomorrow.

Jessica, thanks for that zucchini chip recipe. I printed it out and will definitely try it, it looks good.

I found jicama at the grocery store - never seen it in my little store before - so I looked up some recipes and found one for roasted corn, jicama, and mango salad. It's got a citrus vinagrette and red onions in it, too. I think I'll make that tomorrow night.
