? Anne.

I amazingly had a good eating weekend over Memorial Day. It really helped that we had not parties and frankly that the weather was lousy! I cooked a whole salmon on Sat and we've been eating it in all possible ways since. I did do a 4 hour training walk on Sat, too.

Lily - glad to hear that DD is feeling better. Hope the specialist can help you.

Robin - Welcome home! Rome sounds wonderful. I have Italy on my vacation list, but DH hasn't added it to his yet, so it'll be a little while. Our Costa Rica tirp in January was guided, and I learned so much that I wouldn't have if we'd done it on our own. Even when we did England on our own, we took a number of small day tours. Much more informative in places.

cbryant - welcome to the up and down world of mainteance! I feel for you trying to find that balance where can stay where you want to be.

Hi everyone. I've been absent for over a week because first my parents came for a 4 day visit and my father always monopolizes my computer, then I was at a 3 day art conference in Ohio as a presenter, then a trip down to the beach for Sunday night and Monday day of the weekend, and finally yesterday was spend working on the art magazine I edit.

My weight's been bouncing around. I was only at 105 for what felt like a minute. Four days later, I stepped on the scale and was back up to 110 where I seemed to stay for a week and a half. Today, I was back down to 107. But physically and clothes wise, I don't feel any different between the five pound range.

I've been off my exercise plan for a week now, but got back on yesterday.

Last week my doctor made another med adjustment to try to minimize the insomnia I've been experiencing. She doubled the 'gain weight med' and kept the 'lose weight med' at the halved level from last month's appointment.

It's been a week since the change and I'm definitely feeling hungry again and also having ideas about eating when I'm not hungry pop into my head. So I'm going to have to be careful about what I eat.

Congrats Anne. When do you think you're due?

Pat, thanks my DD feels much better now. Her appt. with gastroenterologist is Sept. 5th unless they have any cancellations before then.

I finally braved the scale after my disastrous holiday eating last weekend. Better than I expected, I'm up 2 lbs. I think I've finally got my eating back under control now. I'm getting plenty of exercise. I sure find it hard to get back on track once I get off.

I found out last night that my 3 yr. old grandson has MRSA, it started out on a spot that just looked like a mosquito bite. I hope and pray that he is better soon. This is his second time to have MRSA, last time it started on a small spot on his leg. Since I have a poor immune system, I can't be around him until he's well. This makes me sad.

No new grandbabies yet, but expecting them anytime.

DH and DS both start their new jobs next week. I really hope DH likes the change. I'm looking very forward to him having every other week off.

For the last 2 weeks our weather has been warm with intermittent showers. My garden is growing great. I'm going back outside today to plant more marigolds and finish mowing what I started yesterday.

Airregrl, that trip sounds wonderful. My MIL went to Rome last fall and said they walked for hrs. every day. She has been losing weight and indulged a lot in the food there, and still came home showing a wt. loss.

Carolyn, I hope your med. change works good for you.

Sorry to double post. I found out yesterday that my grandson doesn't have MRSA like the paternal GM had reported. We called his Dr. and he just has a mosquito bite. LOL. Again yesterday this same GM took him to the ER for the mosquito bite after refusing to let me and Samantha take him to his appt. with his pediatrician. What an idiot. Things got really nasty as the GM grabbed Samantha's arm and shoved her out of the house when we went to pick the child up. Samantha is 8 months pregnant. Needless to say, we called her attorney and had to file a police report. When will this craziness ever end? BTW, the dad had told us to pick the child up and take him to the Dr., but the dad didn't do anything after this all happened except turn his phone off so he didn't have to deal with it.

Lily, what craziness! It's just one big soap opera, isn't it? Good news about the mosquito bite though because now you don't have to stay away from your GS. Those poor little boys need you in their lives as much as possible.

Yes, Meg it is one big soap opera. I could probably write the soap and makes tons of money with this crazy family. LOL.

I am very glad he doesn't have MRSA. For now the dad and MIL is still letting me and DH take the kids whenever we want. So, I hope this doesn't ever change. But it definitely tore my heart out yesterday when Taylor was screaming and crying to go with me and his mom and she wouldn't let him. I absolutely hate it that the kids were subjected to this. I feel like they are being used as Pawns in this whole nasty situation.

Wow Lily,
it certainly is one thing after another with your family! Glad you can be with GS (including mosquito bite) again. Just keep up keeping up,

The adjustment in my meds has made my appetite come back at odd times during the day. I'm trying to suppress those twinges by drinking water.

Now that DH is up in NYC during the week and I meet him at the beach on the weekends, I no longer have to have peanut butter on hand for him to make a quick sandwich. PB has been a trigger food for me the past two weeks and I've got to get it out of the house. "Can't eat it if it's not here"

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA, I couldn't get to the new forum server until today. Things are crazy here, we are almost moved into our new house. Congrats Anne on the pregnancy! I'd write more but I have to run to acupuncture. See you all next week!

Congratulations, Anne. Lily, that sounds like a tough situation, I hope things get better.

I have been missing in action for a little while! I've been around reading, but just haven't gotten into typing for the last week. Things are going ok. The weeks are seeming to fly by.

I think that last time that I was on here, I was talking about how my plan was going to be to stop intentionally overeating on Sunday, and to make an effort to have treats on different days during the week. Previously, would overeat (most recently cornbread or pancakes) on Sunday, the scale would be up 3 pounds the next day, my stomach would be a mess that day and the next, and I would lose the excess weight during the following week -- until the next Sunday!

I guess I have partially achieved my goal. I haven't started eating treats on days besides the weekend. Right now I'm on a muffin kick (hadn't had one in years). I've been buying a couple on the weekend days and having them with some soup for lunch. BTW, I'm very muffin picky -- I gotta have them all natural, and I've found that Wild Oats store has some good all natural organic ones. A couple years ago, I was on a muffin kick, but I bought pumpkin muffin or cornbread muffin mix and made them at home -- talk about a recipe for disaster there.

I've decided I can't make them at home, and buying a limited amount of the most "whole foods" muffins I can find is the way to keep things under control. Last Sunday I almost went back to the store to buy more, but eventually, I realized that I didn't need to eat muffins with lunch and dinner. I had planned to eat a muffin for dessert once or twice during the week, but I don't pass anywhere where I would consider purchasing a muffin on the way home, and I find that I usually prefer just to head home and eat what I have there.

Now, because I'm not 3 pounds heavier on Monday, I do feel a little more relaxed about the food thing. I feel like I can eat a little more on a particular day, and I've found that my mind AND my STOMACH feel much better when these indulgences are smaller. I can be happy with 2 muffins instead of a whole tray -- and they taste good to the end -- not like what happens when you eat way too much at once just because the food is there.

I just wanted to update everyone on how I'm doing. I hope you all had a nice Memorial day weekend. I was sick with a cold, but was feeling better by Saturday, and managed to plant some flowers on my balcony. I'm glad I planted them, they make me feel better than I thought they would, and I can't wait to get home each day to see how much they've grown! Kind of like kids without all the drama and responsibility! Ha, ha!

Hi everyone,

We've had a pretty quiet weekend here. The kids are all getting along well. Yeah. I took Lacy yesterday to the Dr. for more lab work and the results will be sent to her gastroenterologist. She is feeling fine again for now.

My son came in 4th place last night in the Big Talent Quest Karaoke contest, so he is now an alternate. Kinda disappointed, of course I thought he was the best. LOL. He would not have been able to attend the OK City competition anyway because he'll be at summer drill for the Army anyway during that time.

Carolyn, PB is something that I always keep at home. Sometimes it becomes a problem but I have been trying hard to always measure it and stick to the proper amt. What I've mostly had a problem with lately with is a can of mixed nuts. Seems that when I start eating them I can't stop. I won't be buying anymore after these are gone.

Jessica, I hope you are loving your new house.

Tara, wtg on the food challenge with the muffins. I'm glad to see you're happy about planting the flowers. I do the same thing. I usually go out and check on how all my stuff is growing of the morning and again of the evening. It's really exciting to see the changes everyday.

I'm waiting now for DD to finish getting ready so we can go grocery shopping. I'm out of fresh fruit so I feel like I'm out of groceries.

The scale was back down to 105 this morning for no apparent reason. So that's 5 pounds lost in a week to counter 5 pounds gained in 4 days 2 weeks ago. Physically and clothes fit wise I can't tell any difference. Is this 'normal' during maintenance?

Today, we're going to a college graduation party. I expect there will be great food so I'm eating ahead to fill up.

Lily - nuts, especially peanuts and walnuts are big triggers for me. I do have almonds and pinenuts in the pantry for recipes, but they don't trigger me for some reason. Even throw a handful of almonds into my dinner salad last night and it was enough to be satisfied.

Carolyn, I am much better at limiting myself if I stick to just almonds.

Great garden news. Today I finally have little jalapenos' on my plants and little green beans on each plant. I think the green beans have been my hardest thing to grow. DS goes and checks my garden spots everyday and is always excited when he sees new things growing. Now if he'd just grab a hoe and help weed it, I would be super excited. LOL.

I made chicken spaghetti with wheat pasta tonite. I used all low-fat ingredients and it still tasted great. My family loved it and they need'nt know that I used my "diet" ingredients. LOL.

Couldn't resist hopping on the scale this morning to see 105 again and sure enough I've bounced up to 107. And I ate very well yesterday. Time to get back to the weekly weigh in to minimize the normal daily fluctuations.
