Any tips on losing the last 20 or so?

Who better to ask then all of you fabulous ladies who have "been there, done that"?

Anyway, after dropping over 130 lbs, I am down to my last 20 (or so). I know it's going to get harder and harder. I am looking to avoid the inevitable plateau. I guess I want to know is it really inevitable? Is there anyway to avoid it? I'm sure it varies greatly. Maybe some of you can share your experiences with me (all of us really) and let me (us) know how it was getting off those last pounds. Thank you. :smug:

First of all, CONGRATS on your progress so far!!! :woohoo:

For me the last 10 were the hard ones. Personally I just kept on doing what I'd been doing all along -- it took a lot of patience though. It took me a bit over three months to lose them (as you can see from my sig). I kind of went from a pound a week to a pound every two weeks, then every three weeks, etc. I was actually kind of surprised when I finally saw my goal weight on the scale! I even lost about three more pounds after hitting goal before I settled into maintenance.

Robin, you have had such wonderful success. Congrat's. I found that for me those last 10 lbs. or so were very slow to come off. I was only losing a lb. every couple weeks there toward my goal. But, it does come off albeit slowly. Just have patience and persist with what you are doing and you will meet your goal.

Robin you have lost the weight so incredibly quickly that I can't imagine that the last 20 will even end up being a problem for you!! :)

My body loses weight slowly at a rate of 1 pound every two weeks. There seems to be no way for me to speed it up. Losing the last 10 pounds seemed to take forever because I was so anxious to get to my goal, but it really was no different than the first year and a quarter of weight loss.

Here's wishing you won't hit a plateau and will be at the weight you want to be in no time. It's amazing that your so close to 'half your weight' goal!

I'm not so sure plateaus are inevitable. It just becomes harder and harder to create a calorie deficit when you weigh less because your calorie needs are less. :)

I didn't change anything for the last 20 pounds or so because I was already around 1200 calories and 2 hours of exercise a day. So I just kept up the same old, same old and lost about 7 pounds each month at the end.

Robin, obviously what you're doing now works exceptionally well for you and I'm reluctant to have you change a thing! I know your calories are pretty low already so the only thing left to tweak for you would be exercise. If you wanted to, you could either add a little more OR make what you're doing already a little more intense. More time or more intensity. :D

But honestly, you may sail into goal just as smoothly as it's been going so far. So my advice is to just keep on doing what you've doing so well.
