I am never buying store brand yogurt again
OMG - I just had to share. I've been having store brand plain fat free yogurt and adding fruit to it in an attempt to cut down on aspartame and other chemicals. Then I read the ingredients. It has carageenan and guar gum. Eeewww!
In keeping with being good to my body, I bought some of the Stonyfield Farm fat free plain yogurt, which has 80 calories for 6 oz compared to 150 for 8oz of the store brand stuff. I tasted the yogurt before I added the fruit and was amazed at the difference. The texture and natural taste were wonderful. It's funny how you get used to something - like yogurt with chemicals and additives - and you just think it's normal until you taste what it should be like. The Stonyfieldfarms.com website has coupons. Get them. Use them. It is worth the few extra pennies! |
The best yogurt by far is this greek brand called FAGE - they sell it at Whole Foods and it is truly amazing. It has like 4 NATURAL ingredients and it is so smooth and cremy. It has about 6 grams of sugar per suerving and something like 13 grams of protein per serving. I HIGLY recommend it.

I do the chemical-filled light yogurts (typically Yoplait or Dannon since there are only a couple flavors I like), but may have to try these healthier versions. Thanks for sharing.
