Question about clothing sizes
Hello!
I have not bought woman jeans in a long time.. I have been buying mens jeans since I have been over weight. I was wondering if you could tell me what weight you are, meansurements, and what size jeans you wear? I am 5'6", 213, and the last time my waist was measured 4 weeks ago it was 39:. I am going in to get measured this friday. |
Candice - Try a 16 or 18 for starters. Have fun and good luck!
|
Thanks!
|
When I was at your weight, I wore size 16's.
|
This is a really tricky one. Everyone's body is just so different. I wore a 14 at 188 (5'6). But you will find people on here that weigh the same, same height and different size. I'm a 10 at 160 and there are others in 6 & 8 at close to the same weight. The best thing (and most FUN!) is to go to a store you like and just start trying them on. There is also a big difference in brands. One thing for sure--you can't compare yourself to anyone else (I did and it made me crazy!) because everyone likes a different fit. I have a friend that likes her clothes super tight--I do not. I am of the mindset that just because you can pour yourself into something doesn't necessarily mean you should!!
Good Luck and have fun shopping. |
Well said Lea Ann!
And Evette was a 16 at your weight, and I'm 210 and an 18. Have fun finding something smaller and don't worry about the number! |
I'm at 212 and I have a new pair of 14 jeans but at 222 I was a 16 so it depends on shape and where you carry your weight.
Candice - try Old Navy - they have a jean called a low rise, straight leg or boot cut, try the ones with stretch! they start at 20's. Those are the ones I tend to wear even at my heaviest I could still fit in some. |

I would vote with Cassie and say at 16 or 18? Get a cheap pair because the weight will keep falling off and you'll need some slimmer ones real soon!

I carry almost all my weight in my big fat belly and hips. When I was 204 (I'm 5'5") I had to wear a 1X in most clothes. Now at 167 I am a 14. It really does depend on body shape.
|
Thanks!!!
I was thinking of trying Old Navy. I will try to get there next week. :D |

Candice, I'm your same weight, waist size is 35", hips are 47" and I wear a size 18W pants at most stores.
|
When I was at 215, I was in a size 18 pair of jeans.
|
I LOVE lane bryant jeans. Especially their veranesi line.
|
Thanks! When I go to old navy i will try size 18 first :D
You gals area always sooo much help :D |
To me the Old Navy jeans tend to run small but that just may be my shape. I am at 206 and can wear an Old Navy denim skirt in a 16 that is actually a little big but can't even breathe in a pair of size 18 old navy low rise stretch jeans. I even tried an Old Navy size 20 when I was getting into an 18 in other brands and couldn't get the button to meet.

Whos jeans should I Try in Vancouver?
|
good luck on ur jean hunt.
I am 254 and I wear a size 18 comfortable. I carry most my weight in my thighs and stomach area.It also depends on the style or brand. Old navy runs small. I can't even fit in there 20. There jeans also tend to be low rise and stretch. I love Lane Bryant.
Hope that kinda helped. |
I'm 215, 5'8" and in a 16-18, but depending on brand, sometimes in a 16W. My waist is 37"
|
At 203 I was in a size 16.
Now at 164 i'm in a size 12. It all depends on brand of jeans, I think. Some places I can wear a 10, others its a 14. |
Gosh, Cassy, you are doing so well! I don't know why, but I still remember when you hit onderland and now look how far you've come :carrot: . I hope you are doing well and keep up the good work with your weightloss, you'll be at your goal in no time!

I have been frequenting thrift stores lately. There is always a variety of brands and availability of sizes, and they are cheap. That way I don't feel as bad ( in the pocketbook) when I need a new pair because they don't fit. Not that I have needed any lately but I am sure that by the end of November I will.
|
It is amazing the different sizes we take for the same weight. I am size 20 and 5'5" ,weight 215.
|
Candice--thank you! This was a great thread. I think it's important for people to see how very different our body types are when it comes to weight and sizes. I personally know how frustrating it is to see someone who weighs more and is shorter in smaller clothes (fortunately I have gotten over it!). So it's great for everyone to see that they (we) can't compare ourselves to anyone else--just strive to be the healthiest, fittest that WE can be.
So, have you been shopping?? Was it fun?? |
I started at 204 in a 16, pushing an 18. I'm now at 153 wearing a 7/8 in one pair and a 10/12 in another.
|
No I have not been shopping yet. I might be able to go tomorrow to the mall since I have to go to Costco anyhow and they are close to each other :D Will let you know how it goes if I go shopping :)
Thanks again for all that answered! Ohhh and my weight now is 209.2 :D Don't know my measurments though, I will get those on Friday. |
