A little bit of a depressing day...

  • So, I've been doing well on LA - lost 10 lbs so far, and in general the trend is downward. I'm not really *seeing* any changes in my body so far, but I'm sure it will take awhile to see things.
However, today I unpacked a box (we're in the middle of a move) that had some of my old "fat" jeans in it. I haven't seen these jeans since May of this year. And...

They don't fit. And I don't mean in a good way. They are too tight.

This means that when I gained all that weight (in the space of 3 months) I really did get to...well...huge.

The fact that my fat jeans are too small...just depresses me.

On the bright side, it's a TO weekend, so I'm hoping to post a good loss and be in the 160s on Tuesday when I go to WI.

    *sigh*
  • I know that it can be really frustrating, and that sometimes the truth really hurts. Sorry you are having a tough day. Keep the faith, things will brighten up!
  • Dragonfly: Forget about those old jeans. If you weren't in the process of doing something about it you would have the right to feel blah, but girl, you are on the way down. You're headed in the right direction. Put those jeans away and try them on again on Christmas morning. That'll be the best present you can give yourself. Even wrap them up!!!!!!! Have a great TO. You can do this. We are all here for you. Check back in later. Chin up!!!
  • just reading these posts helps...I also got kinda cocky and went shopping and tried on this cute shirt in XL....RIGHT!!!! did not fit around the stomach..oh well...the truth does hurt...but important to keep us on track..SOmetimes I look in the mirror and see changes..other times no..probably just my frame of mind. I am determined however...BC
  • Dragonfly - YOU may not see a difference, but others will see it before you do. I remember 20+ years ago, I had lost close to 100# (yeah, I gained it all back over the years plus some!) but I still shopped for the fat person I used to be. Finally a friend - a REALLY TRUE FRIEND - took me shopping and made me "model" everything for her before letting me purchase anything. Well, I purchased fitting dresses, taylored pants, taylored blouses... all things I thought while on rack, were way too small for me.
So, I say all that to say this. Those jeans may be too small right now, but it won't be long...they'll be too large!
Like RedDeb said, you're on the right track. Let those jeans serve as a reminder of what you are trying to accomplish - a smaller, healthier you! You didn't gain it overnight and you won't lose it overnight - but you WILL lose it if you stay with it!
How bad do you want it?!? Look at those jeans and let them empower to every day until they are too small and then look at the ones you're in now. Sounds like a great tool for motivation to me!!!
We're all here for you and I know you can do this!
You deserve this and so does your family and friends! A healthier you!!!
    Hugs,
