drinking question

Hey all I have a question. I'm going out tomorow to a concert at a bar and I really want to drink. I have already planned to save my 2 starches and even one fruit towards my night out. Is there any type of alcohol that is least damaging to my plan? I am also going to take my carb blocker before going. I was thinking of just doing shots and forgoing a mixer. Any advice? Oh and I will up my water too of course.

thanks

I think but I am not 100% sure about this but white or preferably red wine are the better alcoholic beverages when you are watching what you eat. But if you don't like wine maybe vodka and orange juice or a diet 7-UP would be another choice, also light beers are good too... Have fun

bacardi rum and diet cola....about 65 calories and 1 carb. you can have 2 or 3 of them! have a great time! and make sure you have a designated driver.

The thing with getting a mixed drink is you don't know how the bartender is "making them". Meaning, a shot of vodka or rum may be so many calories...but in some bars/clubs you may get a drink that is weak...and in another it is so strong that it is pretty much a glass of booze with a "shot" of soda pop in it. You know what I mean.

A shot of rum or vodka with a diet soda is a good choice-but only if you can see how much they put in the glass. (When a bartender pours a shot-a 1 oz. shot can be poured in approx. a "count of 4"-I went to bartending classes in my early twenties. ;) )

If you are out at a concert-you might do best with a light beer or two in a can or bottle-because you can simply "know" that the calories are correct. Michelob Ultra is I think 90 calories a bottle if they have that. There are also a few other bottled drinks as well that are "light" that you can find the info on.

Wine is always good-and it is easier to look at the cup and guestimate "is this 4 oz/half a cup) than it is to guess how much liquor they put in your diet soda. You could end up with 2-3 shots in there instead of one, if the bartender doesn't really "care". (Or thinks you're cute. ;) )

Jamie,

Two good drinks if you like vodka:

Crystal Light lemonade and vodka. I bring the Crystal Light and order a shot of vodka and a tall glass of water and mix it myself.

Also, Diet Coke and vodka, or even Vanilla Vodka. Again, I order a tall glass of Diet Coke and a shot of vodka. That way I know what the portion of alcohol is, and the tall glass makes it last longer.

Good luck and have fun.

Good idea for ordering the "shot" separate. Very good idea...I have had drinks before where I KNOW they put 2-3 in there. :faint:

Stay away from the frozen drinks!

I am sure you already knew, but definitely stay away from frozen drinks like margaritas, pina coladas, etc.

I finally lost the 3 lbs I was up after being on maintenance for a while, but darn it, I drank at Bunko last week and went right back up :( No more margaritas for me for a while, not worth it!!

Sheila

Hey al thanks ofor all the input, I think my plan is going to be either bring a flask from home or just buy my alcohol by the shot. I took a bartending class recently so I know how much peoples pouring can vary. SO I'll probably sick with Vodka and either diet coke or water.:D

Good for you!
***sometimes my "drinking weight" takes a day or two to come on. Just stay POP and you'll probably be okay.

I am doing the same thing on Friday. Have been in Graduate classes the entire month of July (am a teacher and love my summers off) so my friend in my class and I are celebrating on Friday. Lots of water for me the day of and the next day.
