Take Off - Cleanse

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Juliann. I'm new to this site as of yesterday. I joined LAWL on 7/7/06. I did the initial "cleanse" and now I've been told I need to do a "cleanse" every 2 weeks. An extra $25 per bottle of juice....ouch! According to them this is optional. What do you guys think? Is a bi-monthly cleanse necessary to weight loss? Has anyone done a cleanse using an alternate to the LA TakeOff Juice?

Thanks!
Juliann

hi, welcome. congrats on your loss so far. I did takeoff (TO) in the beginning and didnt do it again for like 1 1/2 months or even more. Its not necessary, they are just basically trying to get sales. If you do have lots of cravings then the juice will help with that. Many people use canteloupe, oranges and some other juices instead of LAWL TO juice

with canteloupe its 1/2 a on the 1st day and 1/2 on the 2nd day.
with oranges its 4 oranges on the 1st, 1 every 3-4 hours and same on the 2nd day.

there is also the hollywood diet drink that you can find at like CVS, its about $16 a bottle and i think some gals on here use a krudson juice, they will help you out with that 1 because i'm not sure what it is and have never used it.

Goodluck and hope to see you on here more often, you will find lots of great support.

I don't think TO every 2 weeks is a good idea--just my opinion. I think it's beneficial when you first start the plan to kick start the body, then again later if you fall off plan for a while and can't get rid of the carb cravings.

I wouldn't do take off every 2 wks.. i don't think the results would be there everytime. just my .02.

I will tel you that Knudsen Morning blen juice is just as good as their 25.00 juice... don't waste your money on it. Knudsen is like 3-5.00 for 32 oz and works just as well for me!

have a great day... good luck

Take Off

Thanks for the advise!!
I was down another 2 pounds at weigh in today and I'm just starting week no. 3. I feel like I'm on track....so I'm not going to worry about doing a "cleanse" for awhile. I'll look into the Knudsens juice. $25 is ridiculous for a bottle of LA's juice!!

Just curioius

When you use Knudson for TO do you dilute it like you do the LAWL TO juice? Just wondering...

brittyboo07 07-24-2006 03:07 PM

I usually do 4oz of juice and 2 oz water and then my last glass of juice i just use whats left in the bottle and dilute it with the amount of water i think is needed.

Knudsen

Good Question!!
http://www.knudsenjuices.com/product...&productID=255
I might buy one of the overly expensive bottles of LA TO juice to check and compare labels. If it's similar enough in content, I'll dilute as per LA.
Has anyone tried this??

The LAWL juice is a little higher in calories than Knudsens. I usually use 6 oz of Knudsens with 2 oz of water to keep the calories the same. The only 2 things that stand out to me in difference is 1- LAWL juice has a little more fiber, and 2- The LAWL juice has banana puree, and Knudsens does not.

Thanks Katie!

It looks like you are doing great on LAWL. How long have you been on the program?

Thanks Juliann! I have been on LAWL for 11 months. I can certainly say that this has been a life changing experience for me. Welcome to 3FC, by the way.

Welcome Julian - I have used the Knudsen's juice and it worked fine for me. Not sure if it was Britt or Cassi who had the recipe, but I believe it was 25 oz of the Knudsen juice, add 7 oz of water and 4 or 5 tsps of Fiber Sure (powdered fiber mix that really has no taste, but adds 5 grams of fiber per teaspoon). I did the TO again after being on the program for about 3 weeks. I did it in an attempt to curb my carb cravings...it helped when I did the 2 day TO, but after that, I really just go back to craving my carbs! And don't expect much of a weight loss from it the second time around. I think I was down about 3/10th of a pound; honestly it wasn't worth giving up my fruit and starches.
The first time I did TO was the first two days I was on the LAWL program and it was called TO Express. You got unlimited proteins and veggies along with your TO juice. When you do it after you've been on the program, your proteins are limited to 6 oz for the entire day and you get a couple veggies, 2 LA Lites and your juice. I thought it was unlimited proteins and veggies everytime you did TO, but it's not.
Good luck and enjoy the program. I'm starting my 5th week and this truly is becoming a (good) habit!

Hi Joni,
I did the TO "Express" the first 2 days of the program too.....but the TO Juice was included. Hmmmm.....just one of those hidden costs. I'll try the Knudsens, when I'm ready to cleanse/fast... But I think I should wait until I'm at a stale mate...I've been consistantly losing. This morning on my home scale it was down another pound!! Hooray!! I'm glad you mentioned the added fiber, I was wondering about that?!

I know this is kinda gross.....but it helps me keep it all into perspective. Each pound of fat lost is four sticks of butter! So far I'm down approximately 10 pounds, which doesn't seem much yet, but that's 40 sticks of butter!

Hi all,
I know someone said a while back that the LA juice has fibre, and that makes sense to me too. But I double checked that when I was at the centre and there is no fibre in the juice! Maybe the kind they sell here in Canada is different... anyway, I would check that fact.

I've been doing TO with Knudsen's juice, but I can't find the morning blend, so I use one called Mega green, which has the same calorie content plus some greens in it. The LA juice is 100cal for 1/2 cup and you drink that 4 times each day. Knudsen's is 130cal for 1 cup so I usually have 4 cups per day for a total of 520cal instead of 400cal with the LA juice. I have had good success doing it that way, but I suppose I could water it down a but, or at least make sure that I get just 400cal of juice per day.
