I am new to this site. How do you get the scale at the bottom of your messages that shows your progress along?
Thanks for any help.

Star, My prayers are with you!!!!!!

Tina, I can definitely relate to the mood swings. I had a good swing today. I went to the mall and tried on some clothes, and I could definitely tell a difference in my "bod" and size. You can't get too hung up on clothing sizes because you/I may wear one size in a pair of dress pants and two sizes different in jeans, but anyway...........I could feel the difference in trying on clothes, so that made me happy and feel like I'm accomplishing something. The scales moves slowly for me, but if I am consistent this works. I did LAWL before a couple of yrs. ago and since had a baby and backslid for a while. Now I'm doing this on my own (with prayer and the encouragement from reading from the ladies on this board) I have down swings too like when the scales goes up .5 etc., but consistency and not giving up is the key. If you fall "off the wagon" just dust yourself off and climb back on board....Don't beat yourself up about it and continue to eat that way.

Let me tell y'all, the new/current plan has soooooooooooooooo many more options than the old plan I started a couple of yrs. ago. THe carb craver option is a definite plus. I was delighted to see the changes in the new plan.

I have to say, Luna bars are okay, but I really prefer the LA lites. I think I'll order some more off ebay.

WTXchick,
so glad to hear they worked out a plan with you since you don't like the lites. I didn't even know that was an option. I reached my goal on LAWL a couple of years ago (then had a baby etc., so I'm trying to get back to goal) I like the lites, so I ate them, but I never bought or used any other products they offered. I just didn't think they were necessary for my health or for weight loss. In fact, I never ate healthier than LAWL requires with all the fruit and veggies, dairy etc. so I definitely didn't think I needed vitamin supplements. If you stick with it, I'm sure you'll have success.

I bought teacher gifts for Christmas today, but I'm definitely way behind Mary. My children change their minds every day. We have to make a deadline for their Santa letters and then tell them Santa already has their letters. We tell them they can ask for three things (only one big one-not to be greedy) and then Santa likes to give some surprises. I know everyone has their own way of handling that.
Have a great OP weekend every one.

Here's my current mantra.........(I stole it from someone) Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leah AU mom - I guess it's just me. DH tried one today (the chocolate crunch) and he liked it. DD only liked the Honey Nougat. I despised them all!

Mary - why isn't your center more concerned about your weight loss? Have they offered an explanation? I would want one.

We go again tomorrow morning to way in - it feels like we were just there! Oh wait, we were there last night!

Oh, I want DD to show a weight loss so bad I can't stand it. I've been praying all day that she would show a 2 pound drop. She has been eating so carefully according to her plan. But, we've only been on the program for 4 days, so I just don't know. I know the weight loss will happen. There is no way that she won't drop weight on this program.

DH found it wierd when I fixed him a Carb Craver meal and told him to count it as a protien. We all feel like we are doing some kind of wierd science over here with our scales and little booklets all over the kitchen. It has been hilarious. We don't put one bite in our mouths without consulting our own booklet. I'm sure we'll figure it out soon.

Got to go, watching Casablanca tonight!

Andi

Andi,
You will definitely get familiar with the plan soon and you won't have to rely on the "booklet", you'll find what you like eating and you will have a mental journal running. Although the written journal is great for accountability. Who wants to write down cheating????????? If you are very conscious of every bite you take, you are doing exactly what you are suppose to. I gain weight by just eating stuff without even thinking about it.....just popping stuff in my mouth because it's there. The booklet is great for suggestions when you are in a rut, At first I hated having to put so much thought into what I ate, but it will get easier once you familiar with your plan. I just think in my head PPVVVFFFSS. The carb cravers are new and that takes a little more thought, but they are a great addition in my opinion. Like I mentioned, there are so many more options on the updated plan. Before, we couldn't use white or yellow onions, red peppers, bananas, red grapes, peanut butter and many other things that are now on the program.
Stay strong. You'll be glad you did!!!!!!!

Mary,
I'm speaking from past experience, but I did hit plateaus especially. I also got in ruts with what I ate, so I would try some new things and #1 not be bored with my food and #2 my weight loss would also kick in. Forget about being OP during Rita, just keep moving forward. You're doing great. Remember the tortoise and the Hare? Stay steady!..........and you'll win this race!!!!!!!! Wow where is all this motivation coming from? I sound like a counselor Ha Ha

I have joined LA awhile ago and have already had to buy additional weeks. Had to pay $12.00 for each additional week. Is that the norm for everybody? I am gonna have to lose quickly or this will break me.

thanks for any info

Diane: After seeing that recipe that you found at LA, it reminded me that I has some Sweet-n-Low Brown sugar at home and I wondered why I haven't used it? This time of year, I usually put sliced apples in the microwave and sprinkle with cinnamon and a touch of Splenda. I don't have any oatmeal at home, but did have a baked apple with the SnL brown sugar last night, and from now on, I'm sticking to Splenda. I do appreciate the recipe. Sometimes they need minor tinkering for your own taste.

Nana: I can't believe you purchased your weeks for $12/week. In this area, the normal price is $7 and $5 when they are on special. Where is your center? Sounds like Donald Trump Tower!

I can believe it because thats what I paid I think.. When I asked about why mine was so high they said because I just walked in, but I did ask about any specials I was told they didn't ever have any that, that was the price...

Andi~ glad to see the new plan is working for you.

Nana~wow i can't belive they are charging that much!

I am in the process of switching centers. I live close to the center in Illinois since I am right on the border, so that is the one I joined. But I work further in the state and there is another center about ten minutes from my job. I go there occasionaly when I am in a crunch and know I can't make it to my center and they are truthfully alot nicer and more courteous.

They gave me the Holiday special thing for coming in 3 x's a week and getting a gift certificate each month earlier this week and when i went back to my center they were like, "we don't do that and they shouldn't have told you about it", so that is what started me to thinking about switching. Then my center they finally takes my blood (almost 1 and a half months later) and tell me I must always be missing the lady who does the blood work. Come to find out it is the same counselor i see at least once a week. (One I am not particually found of, but she is there almost every day I go in!) So I just laugh it off at that point, but I am really frustrated with them. I am tired of getting hollered at for a tenth of a pound gain and when I explain that I weigh myself at home each morning for a more accurate count they tell me "well that's not what we count".

So yesterday I ended up having to go to the center close to my job again and I was talking to her about my weekend and how I was tring to eat everything at home running back and forth before I went to the engagements I had planned so I would stay on plan and she started telling me to just look for things that are about the same calories and giving me actual "counseling", way more than the lecture i get at my center for eating the whole 6" tortilla instead of cutiing out 4" of it. She said it was a good idea to weighmyself at home, because this is a true record of my weight and she was just nice (in fact, even though I only drop in occasionly, they actually know my name and remember things about me, like my son's name and that I wasn't feeling well last week- I think they have less clients)

I know these might seem like small things, but I feel alot more comfortable at the center by my job and I feel like they are more in tune to the fact that we are real people who can not plan every bite we take in life. Although I understand the purpose of drinking the lemon water and everything else, I don't plan on drinking lemon water every day for the rest of my life. Nor do I plan on purging myself of all sodium to loose 3 pounds of water weight. I would much rather loose 3 pounds and have a monitored sodium intake.

OK I am ranting again, so I'll stop
But basically, I am really excited about going to the other center regularly now and I just feel more comfortable at the other center and i can easily go on my lunch hour to weigh-in, plus if I am ever at home, I can still go occassionally to the other center if needed and have them fax my weigh-ins. But she even told me when I said I was doin take-off this weekend that they have a special on it right now, but when I told her I am a struggling broke graduate student, she recommended Knusens or E-bay, and she said that she can look-into finding out why I am on blue and get me on gold if I think that works best (now I can stop cheating in my diary and filling in an extra starch and protein on the way to the center)

I am actually looking forward to going into the Center next week!

Have a great OP weekend everyone

Hi All!
I've been AWOL for days. I had to take a spur of the moment trip to Las Vegas. My DH's step brother Tony was killed in a car accident earlier in the week. We had only met him a couple of times, so we had planned on sending flowers, but not making the trip. On Thursday we found out that two of Tony's other siblings were not going to be able to get to Vegas for the funeral, and they were devastated. We ended up canceling our weekend plans and putting those kids in the car Friday afternoon. We got to Vegas about 2:00 am. The funeral was Saturday morning. After the luncheon, everyone else was very busy getting drunk, and since I am not drinking at all while on plan, and DH hates alcohol, we excused ourselves and hit the strip. Between the 2 of us we won about 300.00 bucks on slots and blackjack....To bad we gave it all back. Even though we were in town for a sad occasion, it was a nice break from reality! We drove all day, and got home about 8:00 tonight. I am sooo proud of myself, because I managed to stay OP all weekend, even with all of the fast food and casino food. Too much protein, probably, at the buffet, but other than that.....Well, I think occasionally it should be okay to substitute coconut cream pie for a starch. I missed WI on Friday because I was gone, but I will definitely go tomorrow. Hope for a loss, but my hands and feet are still pretty swollen from all of the car riding. We'll see what happens!
Star- How was the colonoscopy? I had one about a year ago. As I remember it, the cleanse was much worse than the procedure. Wish you a speedy recovery!
Have a great Monday everybody! Katie

Morning ladies: I'm taking a vacation day today. The golf final that was scheduled in Aug due to rain was postponed to Columbus Day - today. Guess what, it's raining again and about 55 degees is suppose to be the high today. I should have just went to work because I could care less about golfing in this weather. DH says to go because I'll have a good time. Hope he's right.

Shennie: I'm happy that you have 2 centers so close to each other that you get to pick. I don't blame you for switching. When I started at my center everyone was doom and gloom and never smiled. I complained to my sisters who go to a different center - and others must have complained as well. Shortly after my unofficial complaints a new group showed up at my COD. All were from Corporate, and the ladies I spoke with that day - I told them that I was glad that some other ladies that seem to enjoy their jobs and smiled once in a while were working and was a nice change from what I have experienced here so far. Well, my center has done a complete turn around and they are all very nice and supportive.

Mary: WTG on the NSV! Next time you get 1 of those coupons you will have to give it away because you won't be shopping at Lane Bryant anymore. WooHoo!!!

Star: How did the test go?

Hey chicks!

Happy Columbus Day.

I'm back from a weekend conference, and EEEEEKKK, the scale is way up today -- so I'm trying to really push the water -- really stay POP -- the water isn't easy since it's cloudy and cool here, and it's always tougher to drink water on days like this - when what I really want is something hot.

I am thinking of making soup today - it's a perfect day for that - just not sure which type to make!

Andi - I really enjoy seeing your posts and how your whole family is getting on board -- your poor DH with the starches - we all go thru that -- and eventually you figure out how to work in some of your favorite stuff, and some of the new stuff becomes your favorites (does this make any sense?) I really hope your DD had a loss this weekend. (BTW, I LOVE Casablanca - I catch something different everytime I see it)

Shennie - WTG on shifting your center - I'm liking the people at the center now, much better than before -they all seem much more happy and not so pushy.

Katie - I know what you mean about Vegas - I was in Reno just a couple of months ago -- there's a reason they stay in business.

Star, hope all is well with you!

Leah - I find the Knudsen's juice in the natural food section of my grocery.

Mary - you go girl! I do a lot of shopping in Dress Barns - don't know if they are in other parts of the country - but they have both Misses and Women's clothes -- and I get coupons, too .. . About the spurts - do you (or can you) mix up what you eat? I do think that our bodies can get used to certain foods at the same time, and that shaking things up will keep your body confused, and keep losing. But, I do tend to lose weight in spurts, too -- it's just the way my body works. And can you try to add some of the higher calorie proteins - such as beef once in a while?

Nana - I think the weekly price is different depending on the center - is there another center close to you? call them and ask them what their price is?

Hugs to all,
Julie

sy, I heard that there is a new brown sugar splenda now. You may want to try that. I haven't tried the sugar twin brown sugar yet, but I haven't heard anything good about it. How do you cook/bake the apple in the microwave?
