From what I understand The G.I. Diet helps to stabilize blood sugar. Here are a couple of links that may or may not be helpful. http://www.picknpay.co.za/pnp/view/p...6108&sn=detail http://www.gifoundation.com/GI%20Concept.htm TTYL. |

I've been doing this for almost 4 weeks now and have lost 6 lbs. Seems to be going pretty good. Easier than anything else I've ever tried and feels so healthy. You can check out my blog if you like and look at the links (which are not as boring as reading through all my info). I was especially encouraged by "Anna's story". http://lowgi.blogspot.com/ TTYL. |
Hmmm.
Seems I'm posting to a wall here.
So, I guess a guy on this thread makes everyone uncomfortable? Sorry. Thought I'd try it out, but I guess gender is an issue with many. Goodbye. |
Happy November everyone...its been while since I have posted, so lets get up to date with me. I am still at the same lbs as my previous message, more than likely since I am working out a bit more. Its the muscles...why do they have to weigh sooooo much. Anyway :) Still eating low GI and I think I am used to it...(I better be..lol) The biggest success is my daughter, she has lost 16 lbs...WOOW!!! and the funny thing is, its working great for her and not for me, and we EAT THE SAME FOODS..its crazy I know. But she feels sooooooooo much better, she can definately see the difference in her clothes, which at almost age 12, is a BIG DEAL.
Anyway, Hello to all newcomers, and thanks Quincy for the info! I have been taking it easy with NOT exercising too much, but I am doing it, which counts at least. And hey!!! this isnt gender specific, we ALL need to have a place to converse with others during our new LIFEPLANS. I hope you come back! So, I hope everyone is ready for the holiday season...I'm not, I can already smell all of the delicious foods, but you know what...all in moderation, all in moderation. So in the words of Tigger (from Winnie the Pooh) TTFN (Ta Ta For Now!!) GOOOOOO GI!!! |
Hi everyone :) ...seems a little slow..I have been lurking again..and having computer problems so first chance to post and read....I went to library and took out all the GI books I can find (i'm a cheapy lol) I'm understanding the process but find it hard to make up my own menu's etc..plus i need to get rid of all the not so good GI foods in the house and being the cheapy I am don't want to throw out. I was doing pretty good there for a bit on the GI but I have a hard time with the protein I really do need that first thing in the morning and find the Oatmeal doesn't cut it my sugars drop big time before lunch :dizzy: . So I have been having 1-2 poached eggs with 2 slices of turkey bacon or back bacon and 1 slice of wwbread for breaky this seems to work but I don't like eating that many eggs in a week. I was thinking maybe a toasted cheese and bacon sandwich in the morning and really watch the rest of the day ...do you think this will be too high...I only eat whole grain bread. Hoping to get on track again properly....I was doing some walking but alas the yucky weather started today finally got our snow :( (I live in Ontario Canada) so going to have to really get motivated now lol...well looking forward to reading and posting again.
Happy GI'ing :carrot: Chiky |
I am back on track again and I am going to buy the Gi FAmily guide to figure out how to get my kids and for the most part my husband on board to make things easier in the kitchen. He gives me the most resistance and pulls the kids off track. He is a junk food person and loves to snack on junk food HELP.
I try not eat after 7 at night and there he sits with his snacks. I ahve got him trained so far to eat aafter ther kids are in bed but it still makes it challanging for me. But it is an obstacle I will have to over come. I like alot of the recipes in the GI books and find them helpful. I have lost 5 pounds since JAn 7 and hope to continue on track. |
Just wondering how everyone is progressing? I'm just beginning to GI and wondered how you guys were doing?

anyone still on the gi diet???
I went through all twn pages here, lol.. then I realized most of these were from a year ago!
I just ordered my gi diet book from amazon.com and I'm so excited to start this plan and would love a thread of others doing the same. I just had my 4th baby and I'm nursing so I thought this diet would be perfect because it doesn't really limit important things and I can add extra calories of "green" light gi foods to keep my milk supply up and my weight down. After my 3rd baby was born I did weight watchers and got down to my goal weight within 6-7 months... this time i would like to try this diet and see how far it gets me. Anyone want to start a new thread with me? |
sorry, forgot to hit the instant email reply button :) hope others are out there! :) :)

Hi spryng! I am following the French Diet, which is based on the low GI concept. I'm not sure if we are doing the exact same thing, but I'd love to share encouragement and support with you! Check out my post today in the French Diet thread where I explain (in a nutshell) what my eating plan is. Let me know if yours differs from that, and how!
Talk to ya! |
Would love to hear updates and see some more recipes. I started the Zone about 3 weeks ago and am really enjoying it...
