Thanks Mary, that was sweet!

No exercise yesterday and not a great OP day either since I was pretty restricted about food choices at the tennis center, but not too bad.

Plan to do 40 minutes of cardio after work and then another 3 mile walk through neighborhood with DH tonight.

textjewel 08-18-2005 12:44 PM

Sigh, after many months - -I got on my stepper today. And lasted a whole 12 minutes. I'm aiming for 15(!) tomorrow!

Julie

Star 08-18-2005 01:17 PM

Way to go Julie - 12 minutes is alot for a re-starter...you go girl!

textjewel 08-18-2005 01:57 PM

Thanks, Star, it's a beginning -- I figured I still have about 4 weeks on hold, and I'd really like to get back to where I left . . and a little bit more would be good, too!

Julie

textjewel 08-18-2005 03:52 PM

And I spent half an hour in the yard, too, trying to pull up little trees that are growing where they aren't supposed to. My hands hurt.

Star 08-19-2005 08:04 AM

TGIF - Gym - Circuit Train Wgts.....alittle cardio, abs and buns......
Same ole - same ole......
Weekend workout will consist of taking GB's to the fair. Will try to focus on their fun and avoid the 'fair food' at all costs.......do you think cotton candy is okay for a 20 month old??? lol

textjewel 08-19-2005 02:50 PM

made it to 20 min on the stepper today! think the music may have been too fast yesterday.

oo-rah, as Star says.

Julie

textjewel 08-21-2005 07:56 AM

yesterday, another 20 minutes on the stepper, and a good thirty minutes at least pulling weeds on the patio --

today, hoping to dig out a weight tape. ..

auditgirl 08-22-2005 07:54 AM

Way to go Julie!!! I didn't exercise Friday (was in Cincy watching more tennis) and didn't exercise Saturday (we were out on the lake), I did manage to get in 3.6 miles yesterday. Today I plan at least 45 minutes of cardio and to get back to the gym for strength training. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, so hopefully energy level wise I have enough in me to make it to the gym ;-)

Star 08-22-2005 09:27 AM

Morning Fit Chicks...

:tread: - 45 minutes
:cheer: - Julie

textjewel 08-22-2005 11:10 AM

Did get in 20 min on the stepper yesterday - still no weight tape -- decided to just get in the cardio habit this month, then tackle the weights in September!

Julie

Star 08-22-2005 02:28 PM

Switching my plan this week from weights 3xs per wk and cardio 2
now cardio - 3xs/weights 2.......

textjewel 08-22-2005 03:47 PM

Star, why the change?

Star 08-22-2005 04:29 PM

I have been doing circuit train 3xs a week and cardio 2xs for some time now....I wanted to tone my arms some more.
Now I'm gonna switch every week, just even it out more......

auditgirl 08-23-2005 07:38 AM

Walked 6 miles yesterday...3 miles with co-worker and then another 3 miles with DH around the neighborhood. Planning on going to the gym tonight to start strength training again....though I planned that most of last week too with no luck.

Jen

did 25 min on the stepper today. Missed the past two days, so I'm proud that I got on it again today!

auditgirl 08-25-2005 07:51 AM

Way to go Julie!

Walked 3 miles with co-worker then another 3 miles with DH. Tonight is bowling, so I doubt I'll make it for strength training again...darn....need to get back to that!

textjewel 08-25-2005 08:30 AM

Jen -- I'd consider bowling strength training - lifting those heavy bowling balls!

auditgirl 08-25-2005 09:04 AM

funny....i know that's why my right arm is in so much better shape than my left though ;-)

Star 08-25-2005 09:24 AM

No gym - no workout - took the day off due to being bummed about my blood tests.
Jenn- Bowling is fun exercise.....my right arm is in better shape too. I know this sounds silly, but I have always thought it was partly due to heavy use of the calculator.....?
Julie - you doing great - oh-rah.....

Star 08-26-2005 08:56 AM

Tgif

Home - Abs & Buns
Gym - :tread: - 40 minutes :ebike: - 5 minutes
Thigh machine for good measure
:cheer:

textjewel 08-26-2005 06:20 PM

Kathy Smith step tape. Killer. I only got thru the warm up and the beginner level. And that was with my arms down for some of the moves.

However, definately want to do it again!

Star 08-29-2005 08:28 AM

Gym - Eliptical for 35 minutes
Treadmill - 12 mintues
Abs and Buns at home......
Oh-Rah.....

Star 08-29-2005 09:48 AM

Mary -
The arms, are usually a real problem area. Sometimes the most neglected.

You have to really concentrate to correct this problem. I do 3 sets of becep curls, 12 reps each.... I use 5,6 & 8 pound weights.
The tricep is alittle harder to improve, but tricept push backs work well - same 3 sets, 12 reps. Also the tricep overhead drop down, where you hold the weight above your head with elbows in by ears and drop the weight behind you head down to your upper back......again 3 sets, 12 reps......
To see progress you should do 2 different exercises for both bi's and tri's.......and the results don't show overnight.....but it will happen......oh-rah.....

auditgirl 08-29-2005 02:13 PM

Hi ladies,

I walked 3.6 miles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I forced my 16 year old son to go along with me Friday and Sunday (one because he has really been a bum this summer and it's starting to show and two because I was angry with him and decided to try my own version of boot camp). Anyway, he could barely keep up...that made me feel pretty good ;-) He said, "you do this everyday? This is hard"...I told him it was harder being the fat girl....

Star 08-29-2005 02:26 PM

Jen - Good for you - that is called creative punishment.......

Star 08-30-2005 09:21 AM

Well skipped working out this a.m. - I felt like I needed this to be my weekly day off....
On those days, I take my time getting ready, drink coffee and watch tv before I leave for work - life of leisure.......
Last night I went and signed up for 8 weeks of Jazzercise, it's on M-W& T nights at 6pm.....I'm really looking forward to start it tomorrow night. I did it in the 80's and remember it as being totally fun and good exercise......I'll keep you posted.

textjewel 08-30-2005 11:12 AM

Kathy Smith March to Fitness tape. Sweat buckets. It's an oldie but goodie -- had to just march in place at the end. ..

Julie

Star 08-31-2005 04:40 PM

Wed -

Gym this a.m. - :strong: circuit train.....
First Jazzercise class tonight at 6pm - kinda excited, thinking of pulling out the leotard (full body) and the leg warmers, and ofcourse the headband.....take me back to the 80's..... ;) the other jazzy chicks will think they entered a time warp.....

Star 09-01-2005 10:02 AM

:tread: This a.m. Gym

last night - first Jazzercise class, only it was Body Sculpting with bands, light weifhts and ball. Good class, not too hard, but not easy....

One chick fell off the exercise ball - the instuctor said "it happens all the time"

textjewel 09-01-2005 12:05 PM

And yet another Kathy Smith tape - this one started off with weights for upper body, so got in some aerobics and circuit training --

Star - I thought Jazzercise was all dance! Shows you what I know!

Julie

Star 09-01-2005 12:37 PM

Julie - Back in the day of leg warmers, it was all dance. To keep up with the more complicated variety of exercises it has added new phases. So to me that means - it's not all fun anymore....lol This is the new schedule:
Modnay - Cardio Quick
Wed. - Body Sculpting
Thrus - JAzzercise (the old fun kind)

lol....

auditgirl 09-02-2005 09:19 AM

Star-I've never been coordinated enough to do the dance class thing or step aerobics, I usually just wind up feeling like a fool and quitting. It looks like a lot of fun, but for others ;-) I did like water aerobics though, there was the uncomfortable bathing suit part, but you feel weightless in water and that's a great feeling!

Yesterday I walked 3 miles and bowled last night. Unfortunately, I went to a luncheon yesteray and wasn't in control of my menu, so I wound up with BBQ pulled pork, canned green beans and a salad...not bad choices, but I can feel the sodium and scale was up 1.2lbs this morning at home ;-( I'm drinking tons of water this morning to flush it out!

Star 09-02-2005 10:10 AM

Jen - About the class thing, you aren't the same 'big' girl anymore. It's easier to be the 'skinny' uncoordinated chick in the front of the class than the 'big' uncoordinted chick in the back of the class. You know why? It's becuz you feel so much better about yourself - try new things with the 'new' you! Sermon over...lol

Today - Gym - cardio.....

MetalChic 09-02-2005 10:14 AM

I'm always uncoordinated and clumbsy! I hate to let someone see me exercise.

auditgirl 09-02-2005 10:14 AM

Star-Good point...I might need to get myself some sexy gear and give it a whirl! I know my gym has several classes and one of the women that teaches is as big as I was when i started LAWL!

Star 09-02-2005 10:22 AM

Okay - excuse me Metal and Jen, I don't get it you two have made it to goal, lost a ton of weight and are afraid of alittle silly dancy exercise class? Come on - strut your stuff....you deserve it......If I were you two I would get my own exercise show on tv......lol
Don't make me go off on you........
