Hi, my name is Michelle. Thanks to your forum, I was able to finally break a plateau that has lasted for several months. I am doing the 5 week Summer Meltdown. I started at 163.2 on Sunday, Apr 3rd. Today, it's April 9th and I am 158.4. Thank you so much for having this site!

marissaann84 04-10-2011 09:49 AM

ok... so i am new to this site but saw alot of helpful information on here. i have done LAWL 2 times before and was able to get to my goal both times. i believe i was on the red plan before. i have seen the layouts on here but don't remember the amounts... i know that 1/2 cup cooked of veggies is correct but i don't remember the oz for the meat. i have been trying to really lose the weight for about 3 weeks now and im getting really discouraged. i have only lost about 5 lbs so i thought that i would go back to LAWL. I am 5'9 and 191.2. Is the red plan right for me, and can i use the 48hr hollywood diet drink instead of the takeoff juice? it seems to be about the same stuff. any help would be great! thanks so much!

Hi new folks...I'm not much help on the program names/colors anymore..it's been so long....but I can tell you that I used to use a Knudsen juice vs the takeoff juice....search for "substitution" on this thread and I bet the options will come up.

Nicole - "I have been kind of down, and I am not sure why." - I read an article that says about this time of year, due to the cold/dark winter months, we are lacking Vitamin D and that causes us to be down...not sure if it's true, but pop some Vitamin D or eat eggs, tunafish, herring, salmon (yuck..i hate salmon), and get some sunshine!

I'm doing WW at Work and tracking my points..suffice it to say that after this weekend, I have managed to use all my extra points...i still have my activity points, but I don't want to use those......not sure what the scale will say on Tuesday....

Boot Camp at 5:30A - off to bed!

The Newbie sticky thread has info on substitutions for bars and juice.

Oh my goodness, the newbie page is so helpful. i have been looking for this stuff for a while. Thank heavens i stumbled upon this website! it is a god send! thanks so much for the info! I work 12hr night shifts 3-4 times a week. i find it had to transition for nights to days with my eating... any suggestions? for example there will be a day where i am up for 36 hours and then another where i am up for maybe 8 before sleeping again... suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

juliemarie 04-11-2011 11:28 AM

Marissa-shifts like that are hard! And when you get tired-your body/brain craves carbs which makes it harder . . .

The only advice I have would be to plan out your meals for several days-not only what you're going to eat but when. Stick to it EXACTLY and see how you feel. It's going to be really hard to not overeat when you're up for 36 hrs. I'm thinking plan a small meal or snack every 3 hours if your job will allow for it.

Hi all!

Hi all! My first post on 3FC and I'm so glad I found this site. Like many here I've done LAWL in the past (3 times!!!). The last time was about 8 yrs ago. I gained all the weight back and then some when I quit smoking for a year. So here I am with a major birthday coming up and I am determined to lose the weight once and for all (yeah-yeah they all say that :)). The difference is that this time, I'm at an age where my health depends on it. My goals are modest: I just want to hit 150lbs (26 lbs to go). I'm beyond impressed with the ladies here who've lost 50-60-100lbs and more, a little intimidated really (if they can do that you should be able to lose 30lbs, you wuss), and truly inspired. A big Thank You to the people who started this thing and to the members who are generous enough to share: I've been reading through the forum for the last few days and can't believe how much info I've gotten here. I'm taking the advice (love-love-love Luna bars), doing the 8 week makeover with gold plan - and I've lost 7lbs in 6 days. I intend to get healthy, look good and feel great, and I know that this place will be a huge part of staying on track.

Newbie question: is it possible to change my name from NewLifeNewMe to NewMe50? Or am I stuck with the long name?

Angie 04-16-2011 08:37 AM

Hi NewLife & Marissa! :WELCOME: This board is not very active any more, but there is a lot of great info here in the stickies up top, as you've already seen, and I think you can search back through all the old posts too.

New life - Sounds like you've done a great job so far! You can ask the admins to change your user-name, but you only ever get to change it once for this site...so choose one you will like for a long time.

Things are moving slowly for me. I gained some momentum at the end of March, then gained during TOM at the beginning of April, and now I just keep bouncing up and down between 216 and 214...BLAH, I'm sick of it. My plan for this week is more protein, more fiber, less fat and less sodium. We'll see how that goes -- today will be a challenge with 2 birthday parties, and then another one tomorrow.

NewLifeNewMe 04-16-2011 12:02 PM

Hi Angie - thanks for the good words. I know that the first week isn't typical and hope to lose a steady 2lbs/week from now on. It's going to be tough because I'm also trying to cut back on a bad cigarette habit, and trying to get myself motivated to take that daily walk... the only times I've kept weight off were when I worked out while eating healthy. The upside with LAWL is that I actually have to force myself to fit all of the food into my day - gotta love THAT problem. Well, ttyl and enjoy-enjoy the birthday parties!!

Angie 04-17-2011 09:28 AM

Up 1lb to 217 today. I was 100 calories over plan yesterday, but I ate 3000 mg of sodium (19g fiber, 71g protein)...so I guess that's the issue. I also put all my weigh ins for April in an Excel spreadsheet along with the nutrient counts for fat/carbs/sodium/fiber and protein. I figure since it's my job to be analytical, observe and make recommendations I should apply those same principles to my weight loss -- so I'm treating myself like a client.

NewLife -- 2lbs a week should be reasonable. I wish you all the best in quitting or slowing down on smoking; I kicked that habit 7 years ago after 20 years of smoking. It's not easy, but you can definitely do it -- good health is yours for the taking. :)

NewLifeNewMe 04-17-2011 09:29 AM

Can anyone help me with portion sizes? I remember that a counselor told me to use Kavli's whole grain crispbread for starch but I don't remember how many = 2 starches.
According to the box:
1 serving=3 pieces=50 cals
total fat 0g
sodium 45mg
dietary fiber 2g
sugars 1g
protein 1g
Also, what's the portion size for veggies on the gold plan? I don't want to mess this up and I'm not sure whether 1 serving= 1/2 cup or 1/4 cup. I've limited myself to spinach, cucumber and celery the past few days but now that I'm craving carrots-peas-corn (hee)....

Thanks in advance to the kind soul who answers :^:

juliemarie 04-18-2011 11:18 AM

pretty sure for veggies-it's 1/2 c for most things. I think for baby carrots-it's 10 carrots. Peas and corn are starches, not veggies. Unless it's sugar-snap peas-than I think that's 1/2 c.

For the crisp bread-not sure. But I'm guessing that the 3 pieces=1 starch. Starches are hard to guess as the calorie range for starches on the program is anywhere from 45-110 calories, depending on the item.
