Losing weight too rapidly.
While I know it'sstill a bit early for me to be concerned about this, I figured I would ask anyway.
I started my little weight loss journey this past Friday. On Thursday, I weighed myself and I was 172.5lbs. I figured I might have been retaining some water (that well...I just gained weight), so I decided to start to drink a lot more water and cut calories/exercise, etc. The next day (Friday), I weighed myself and I was 170lbs. I assumed the 2.5lbs I lost was due to water retention, as I drank a lot of water on Thursday and peed it all out. Well, it's now Wendsday, and I weighed myself today--164.5lbs. My question is am I really doubting the power of water weight or am I going a bit too extreme with counting calories and exercise? I take in about 1250 calories everyday (usually slightly less), drinking about 50-70oz of water a day, and I've been doing Tae Bo for 20 minutes for the past 4 days. I didn't think I was retaining THAT much water because it is not TOM for me, I don't have any problems with swelling, and I have low blood pressure. Thank you =) |
1- It's normal to lose a lot initially (partly from water weight, partly from radical change in diet). It will likely slow down as you go on.
2- Make sure you are weighing yourself at the same time of day under the same conditions (ie- empty stomach v. full stomach, pre-bathroom v. post-bathroom). That way you get the most accurate results |
I don't count calories but from what I've heard 1200 is the reccomended minimum for a female. You may want to up your calories a bit so you have more wiggle room when it comes to lowering them more later

Thank you for the speedy responses!
I probably should have added that I do plan on adding more calories on the days that I work out. I usually weigh myself as soon as I wake up, right after I use the restroom =) |
wow, I wish I had THAT problem! sounds like you're off to a good start : )

Think of it as a blessing- it will slow down, my first week of dieting I lost 8 lbs one week!
