I just have a policy that dessert is for the weekend. So when I see something like that on Wednesday, I just think, "Oh, well, I'll have something this weekend if I want it." It's not so much a strict rule I force myself to follow - it's more just a new lifestyle, an attitude, and it's actually kinda freeing. I don't have to struggle with sweets during the week. I when I do have something once a week, I'm much more likely to make sure it's something worth having, and I enjoy it a lot more than if I was having sweets all week long.
I do have a square of dark chocolate in the evening if I want it. That doesn't seem to derail me, or tempt me to eat more.
