Default hot lemon water advice

how do you lovely ladies (and gentlemen?) get down the lemon water? I absolutely skieve lemon and I don't drink tea either. I do like the idea of something flushing away a few of the mistakes I tend to make.

anywho, someone gave me a box of candy today and I indulged. I am happy that I was able to throw the box out after a while, that's something that I usually do not do. I am going to my COD tomorrow morning, I tend to do better when I face the scale :/

Nikki - Honestly, I just don't like it, but one of my (not listed) intentions was to drink it anyway! So, I use my hot shot, 1 cup water add 2T of thawed lemon juice (= juice of one med. lemon) and I add splenda. It still gives me a sore throat so I just have it right before my morning coffee and the warm coffee seems to soothe the throat. All I know is I was having to tinkle every 30-45 minutes yesterday! (whew!)
I'm believing that the more I drink it, the less I'll despise it! For now, I look at is in the same way I look at cough syrup.

I have a 16oz cappucino mug that I fill with water and 1/4 lemon wedge squeezed. I microwave it for 2:30 and drink up.

Pearl - Maybe your lemon water is too strong? Maybe a weaker water would give you a more pleasant taste?

I think I get the same effect when I add my lemon to my crystal lite lemonade--it's really good heated, too.

The instructions from my COD said to squeeze the lemon into the water, throw the whole wedge into the water and then micro for 30 seconds. Odd, I know.

Hot or cold Nance I think it has the same affect. I learned to like the hot as it's winter here but have cold usually with meals etc.. or just suck on entire lemons after indulging in wine!

Nance-If the water is warm (not too hot!)-the lemon is absorbed by the stomach better . . .that's all. Just more efficient that way.

Well, I had my first experience with lemon water this morning. That is certainly an aquired taste. If it helps though, I will keep drinking it.

Am I missing something? What exactly is the lemon water supposed to do?

Dan, there is a great post here somewhere on the affects of lemon water...
here is my brief (and simple) explanation - it acts as an astringent in your "pipes" to clean out the "gunk". Sort of like liquid drano... if you'll excuse the expression!
I know that when I drink it, I "tinkle" a LOT more.
Maybe someone here can help find that post on the benefits for you and pass on the link. (someone on DSL rather than dial up like me!)
Blessings,

P.S. I took Cassi's advice and changed the amount of lemon juice to 1 1/2 tsp per cup. Seems to be much easier for me to drink and it doesn't irritate my throat!
Thanks Cassi!

Dan-it's supposed to help get rid of excess water weight-especially due to sodium. I don't know if it pulls out the sodium and therefore the water or what. It does seem to work though. Some folks say it helps with regularity also.
