If you're going to allow the scale to tell you whether you're "good" or "bad," or if you allow it to provide (or deny you) your motivation - throw the darned thing away.
Whether you weight daily or weekly, the scale shouldn't have that kind of power over you. Use it in the way that is most useful to you (for me, that's daily). |
i usually weigh twice a week, but this past week I skipped because I want to see if I can have a significant weight change this week. I think once a week works for me because I like to see a higher number than .4oz or so, I guess it depends on the person. When I get close to goal I am going to by a good scale for maintance. This week my boys had spring football practice and were told to gain weight. I have never been told to gain in my entire life.

I weigh every day. It has helped me to understand my body's little fluctuations better.

I weigh myself every morning. If I don't, I've given up and am avoiding the scale. I've realized I am a bit obsessive but this is my third time with WW and my third time being successful. ( Three kids, went back after each). I'm only 5 pounds from my ww goal but about 18 pounds from my personal goal. If I fall of the wagon I tend to avoid the scale, but have learned that it doesn't help in the end. This week I got rid of all my clothes that are too big now. I'm down 6O pounds since last March...there's no turning back now!

I tend to check my weight everyday. I like to see the number slowly go down every day. I have been walking/running 4 times a week - sometimes it seems like the weight is melting off.
Having said that, I was soooo disappointed today that I'm up over a pound. I went crazy and had some pizza this weekend. Then I had a Footlong Club from Subway (the lowfat, Jared menu one). I thought, crap, I blew my diet already. But the scale was good to me. I had maintained over the weekend, not gained. Then I went for my walk yesterday. Burned 1200 calories according to my iPod + Nike. I weighed myself today. Up. Over a pound. As I said, I was disappointed, to say the least. I came on here for some inspiration. Then I read in a thread about TOM (which should start tomorrow). I didn't realize that you can "gain" 1 to 8 pound in fluid retention. Thank God I read this when I did. I have a workout planned for today and I felt like saying - screw it, I'm killing myself and I'm still gaining. Now, I have my iPod charged and hope to burn 1400 cals today in my 2 hour workout. |
I thought I had posted here before, but it must have been another thread. I weigh every day or every other day. I know this goes against all of the "diet rules", but it helps me. I am a slave to the scale in the way of if I go to "WW" or somewhere and I have tried all week and I see a +2 or something, I go in a tail spin.....
Weighing daily or every other day helps me from keeping that 1 pound from being 5, 10, 15, 20..... and so on. This works for me...... but bottom line, you have to do what works for you. If we all were the same, one diet would work for everyone. Have a great St. Paddy's Day. Tammy |
I have recently made the decision to return to a daily weigh in. I count only Sunday morning as my actually count. But I found only checking in once a week did not keep me on plan.
I find I stay on plan better when I follow a routine. Wake up, eliminate, weigh in, shower, dress and have breakfast. It helps several ways. As by the time I get myself & the kids ready I am ready to eat. I use to skip breakfast. But now this routine sets me up for a successful day! I completely stalled when I went to the scales once a week. I have been up and down on the same 5 lbs for 2 months. |
I like to weigh myself everyday. I found that when I was only doing it once a week I would allow myself to have a little bit of this or a little bit of that because I knew that by Saturday I would have probably lost it. Basically if I was down 1lb I considered that a success which it is, but it would prbly have been higher if I left out the little treats.
