Default I want make better choices. Please help me.

(sorry I messed up on my title. That should be "I want to make better choices.)

I feel gross. My addictions to crappy food (sugar, caffeine, chocolate, salt, ect.) is catching up to me big time. My ticker says I lost 15 lbs, well, that's all gained back. I feel so out of control and sick to my stomach most of the time. I need help.

I'm trying to make a list of foods that I should eat. I have to avoid the crappy foods so I can start to feel better. If I lose weight, that's good too. Please help me. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, and I don't think I can do this on my own. My will is strong, but the mind games in my head are stronger. The addictions are overpowering me. Please help.

Heidi

YOU are responsible for what you eat. Yes, YOU choose what goes in your mouth. YOU can do this!

You have to find what works for you, but I will share what works for me. I try to journal everyday, listing my exercise, water intake, supplements, food and then just free journaling about my day. It has really helped.

I also try to tell myself to feel my feelings, not eat them. That is the most difficult and rewarding thing I do. It hurts a lot, but I have learned so much about myself through this and wouldn't go back to having the pain of the original feeling PLUS the guilt of eating a box of cookies too.

Keep trying new things, something will click, promise!

YES, YES, YES! Quadruple YES for the 2nd paragraph! That is powerful.

Try baby steps. Choose just one small thing you can change. Once you have that under control choose another one. For instance if you are having too much caffiene decide what is acceptable and work on cutting down to that level. If you have three cups a day try two for a week then one the next week.

This is THE hardest part for me. My anxiety level hits the roof when I deny myself something to eat to ease my nerves. The analogy I use is feeling like I am underwater. It's burst out of the water for air (eat what I am craving) or stay underwater and drown. You hit the nail on the head...it hurts. And it hurts like h*ll.

Yes, you are right it is the HARDEST PART. But I promise you can survive and not drown. At first I thought I would cry forever when I allowed the feelings to overwhelm me instead of stuffing them down. I am in no way saying I succeed every time, but succeed once, even if you are lying on the floor in a puddle of tears and you will then KNOW you can succeed again.

Keep me posted, I am counting the days until you can report a victory!
