Anyone eating 5-6 small meals/day to lose weight???
I came across an article in an old Woman's World magazine (January/2008 I think) It was about a woman who 'did what the skinny girls did' and started eating 5-6 small meals/day to lose weight and I think she ultimately lost 50lbs I think.
But is anyone doing this or has anyone tried this?
Yep. I took my daily calories and divided them by 4 and then took one of those figures and divided it by 2
1600 / 4 = 400
400 / 2 = 200
So every 3 hours I eat -- 1 meal / 1 snack / 1 meal/ 1 snack / one meal -- the meals have 400 calories and the snacks have 200.
Yes, it does work. I try to eat something about every 3 hours. I do the meal. snack, meal, snack, etc. I have more calories in the meals and keep snacks at about 100 calories. This will keep you from being ravenous at meal times.
Yes, I did it to lose 70 lbs and I've been doing it to keep it off for 3 years. Basically, I don't like being hungry. When I'm hungry, sometimes I get dizzy and I make really really bad, terrible food decisions. So, I plan a meal/small snack every 2-3 hours. This always ensures I have something healthy on hand all the time, which helps me tackle temptations (why would I eat cake in the breakroom when I have a nice orange right here - for example).
Yes - meal, snack, meal snack, meal, snack for me.
I calorie count so it works very well. I also try to balance each eating occasion with a 40/30/30 carb/protein/fat balance if I can. It really helps me stay full in-between.
The key is keeping healthy snacks within reach. I keep them in my drawer at work, my purse, my briefcase, my car, etc.

My husband and I have been doing this and it works great, as long as we remember that the meals have to be small, more glorified better-planned snacks.
We like having at least at least one meal that is bigger (or "real" as my husband calls it) during the week, so on those days we have to fit the bigger meal into a plan (and when we don't, it backfires, and we don't lose as well).
This is the only way I can make my calories/carbs work on the diabetic diet I am on. It helps a lot, but for me it takes a little longer for planning ahead. Unfortunately, anything online is loaded for dinner instead of during the day when you are active. I guess I finally realized that that makes no sense, after 18 months of struggling with re-arranging everything every day. Jorge Cruz's 3Hour Diet is set up for the 5-6 times a day, and I am checking it out tonight as I plan for my lunch box to go to work in the am. But I am interested in how you are doing it and how it is going. I can let you know whether or not it might be worthwhile.
