Good Morning, Gang . . .

Today looks like an instant replay of yesterday -- sunny and cold -- guess it's going to be one of those years without a Spring and I'll soon be complaining about how hot it is.

Nothing much else is new so far today . . . planning for another good eating kind of day . . . weight is holding steady and blood sugar is a little better.

Hope everybody gets lots of good moving and shaking done today . . .

My doctor's scale said close to what mine did (it's hard to compare digital vs analog), but I'm not ready yet to claim another pound lost. I need to wait another week to make sure. But that made me happy at least!

Looks like rain all day for us here, but that's OK, we needed it.

Tomorrow, um...., it is going to be 101° here.

I went to the grocery today. The main thing I noticed is that they had no whole wheat flour. Not even a place on the shelf for it. It also looks like all the flour companies changed their bag color to brown overnignt - so that we will buy the unbleached, all purpose and not clamor for the WW. What the heck is going on here?

I'm still waiting for the book! argh. If it doesn't come by this weekend, I'm going to ask my mom to call amazon and ask why it has not arrived yet. I am wondering if maybe she chose the option to ship everything she ordered in 1 lump shipment. Sometimes when you do that, it holds up everything just because one item is not available right away.

Ok, so here's my chance to ask for some free volumetrics advice. What are good snacks, if you want to make sure you are getting lots of vegetables and fruits? I have fallen in to a rut of eating 94% fat free popcorn lately. I want to save that for an evening snack that I will have only if I have met my goal for 4-5 servings of veggies and fruits a day. Does the volumetrics book have anything to say about snacks? I'm guessing that popcorn doesn't fit in to the plan?

Edit: Gail, that's really funny about the white flour in the brown bags. Really absurd!

There is nothing wrong with a little popcorn indulgence once in a while . . . plain air-popped popcorn has an ED of 3.8. If it's popped in oil it soars up to 5.0. Obviously not the best thing in the world, but I think those 100 calorie bags are a great snack -- lots of chewing for your calorie money -- and then the added fun of picking it out of your teeth for another hour after you finish it. But . . . no one can argue that you'd be better off with some fruit.

Susan- I find that I usually snack on yogurt or raw veggies dipped in hummus, although you have to control the amount of hummus. I especially like zuchinni sticks that way. If things are really bad, I'll have some almonds (I store them in the freezer). I know they're a high ED, but I don't have very many and they really hold you over while also being good for you.

Good Morning Chickies . . .

Not too much going on for me today -- weather is still too cold for this time of year and today we don't even have the sunshine yet.

My Queen Purrecious is engaged in a little standoff with my friend's toy poodle -- nothing awful; dog barks, cat stares. the other four cats disappeared as soon as the dog came into the house; but 'her majest' does not give ground.

Anyway, better get going to do something useful around the house . . . hope everybody has a great moving and shaking (and volumetrically OP) day.

My short, fat, bobtail Missy Kitty keeps our dogs in line. She puffs up and hisses. She looks like a very large sticker with the fur out and the teeth showing.

What a busy, crazy week! Stepped on the scale this a.m. five times and got 5 different weights. Only one was a happy number - all the others showed a gain. I think it's time for a new scale - digital, p'haps. A little consistancy would be nice. Won't be recording the weight until I have a loss - even a small one - hmph! So there! (stamps foot!)

That is such a pain when your scale does that. I think they all malfunction on occasion.

My dinner - Grilled Rosemary Salmon Spedini http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/ro...mon_kebab.html
I served it over bulgur with asparagus and a garden salad. Finished it off with a cup of decafe and a square of chocolate.

Morning . . . . . . I'm feeling kind of crappy today . . . hopefully not a long-lasting problem, though.

Sorry you don't feel well, Meowee-

Gail- I looked up your recipe and it looks good! We have some salmon left from my son's trip to Alaska, and that would be the perfect way to use it. Do you grill with gas or charcoal?

One of my kitties licked an open spot on her shoulder, so I made a collar for her from a paper plate so she'd leave it alone. She hates it, but it's working well, and for free!
