Yes, it can really help if you are retaining water. It does do a sort of a purification on your system. Especially good if you let the lemon rind brew in the hot water for a time too, as it puts some of the oil from the rind in there.
Also good if you are retaining water is eating asparagus. I had one counselor say some people even drink the water that it boils in, but the closest I've gotten to that is to eat soup that the asparagus has cooked in.
Another good thing is green tea. You can have unlimited amounts of it on plan, and starbucks makes a nice unsweetened green iced tea, so when I go to starbucks I order that instead of the more fattening options.
I like hot water with a slice of lemon in it but ,man, my teeth hurt the next day. My dentist advises against lemon water because it is hard on your teeth enamel so I make sure to brush right away after drinking my 2 "lemon teas" a day.
My LAWL counselor says hot water with lemon is a natural diuretic.

I googled this lemon water stuff, maybe lemon oil or something. Got a government looking page that came up listing the toxins associated with it due to pesticides.
I hadn't thought about that. But I guess as with any fruit or veg that's what we're getting....
I'll be buying organic lemons if I can find them. That information was scarry.

Your post was so helpful. I was wondering why my teeth became so sensitive lately and it must be from all the lemon water I've been drinking. I will defnitely consider brushing my teeth right after. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I am also going to buy lemons today and thanks for letting us know about brushing our teeth afterwards (for those of us with sensitive teeth). Have a great day everyone.
