Premier Nutrition Protein Shake

  • Hi Everyone,

I just joined the board today (been a lurker forever)! I tried searching before posting this question. And while there is alot of questions along these lines, couldn't find anything to answer exactly.

I bought these high protein shakes @ Costco by Premier Nutrition (in chocolate) and they're pretty good. Only problem is I don't know what to count them as/what they replace.

    Here's the nutrition info:
    160 Cal
    3 g fat
    5 g carbs
    3 g dietary fiber
    1 g sugar
    30 g protein

I think they're too high in calories to replace an LA Lite???

Was thinking of using it as an LA SlimDown but those count as 1 protein & 1 starch & I don't feel this shake counts as a starch since the carbs are so low. Guess I could always count it as a SlimDown & eat a starch along w/ it (but not write it down)???

What do you think? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Oh - I'm on plan 4 w/ lites (but use a combo of Lites - bought some, & luna bars).
  • 160 is good. 1 g of sugar is unreal?? Are they soy or whey protein based?
  • The cartons say Milk isolate protein & whey concentrate.

What would you count them as?
  • Whey is the best. If Milk is listed first..then it is mainly milk protein..or if it states milk and whey protein..then maybe it is equal parts of each? But then again...with only 1 gram of sugar...I am thinking maybe it is mostly whey based? Look at the actual ingredients order.
  • Here's the first few ingredients from the carton:
    1. Water
    2. Premier Nutrition Protein Blend: Milk Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate)
    3. Safflower Oil
    4. Cocoa processed w/ Alkali
  • I would count this as a protein only. And if you want to use it as a slim down replacement, yes, I would just eat 1 very lite starch along with it. And welcome We are glad you came out of hiding
  • Thanks for the advice Mama Nicole
