My Daily Weight Fluctuations

  • Does anyone else weigh much less first thing in the morning? Haha. I know this is "normal", because as the day progresses you retain some water weight from either consuming high amounts of sodium or from not drinking enough water. I also take into account the amount of time that's gone by since the last meal, but my weight will still fluctuate as much as 6lbs. So I've stopped weighing myself at night, any only step on the scale in the am, and only once every few days.

I think my problem is that I normally don't drink much unless I'm eating, or if I'm about to exercise (and usually after a vigorous workout).

My question is, if I eat more watery fruits (Can do! I love water mellon!) will that help? Or will it not be enough to make a significant difference? And is a fluctuation (anywhere from 1-6lbs) completely normal as I'm told it is?

    Thanks!
  • If you replace higher-cal, higher-sodium foods with watery fruits and veggies - yes! You will see a difference. I fluxuate 3-5 lbs during the day, and have resolved to only weigh myself once a week. I think you are pretty normal =)
  • BTW, I'm tall too! Not quite as tall, but hey, I can almost relate. Rock the heals anyway when you can, honey. It's fun!
  • hey, I think it's normal... I fluctuate about 2 to 4 lbs throughout the day. It's sorta funny though. I set my "official" weigh in on tuesdays at 5:15pm ---so I've eaten and drank all day. It just seems more "real" to me than weighing myself right away in the AM...I mean, I hardly keep that weight throughout the day.

But yea, it's normal It's hard to know what you really weigh lol.
